Just kidding, but all jokes aside what do you Warhawk fans think the game is going to come down to?

It sounds to me like it may be another defensive battle like last year and could be determined by only 3 or 4 plays during the ballgame.  Turnovers like always could very well decide the game along with which team makes the most "big plays" when they get their chance.

GO CRU!!!!!!!

Yes, turnovers will be very important. Also, it seems that this game will be strength on strength....the Cru run game against the Hawks run defense....if the Hawks can contain the Cru run game, then they should be in good shape....judging from last year's games with Whitewater and this year's stats...the Cru doesn't have a strong pass game (why would they, given the way they run the ball?) and can actually get in trouble when they are forced to throw the ball (witness the interceptions by the Hawks in the first game last year). If the Cru has their normal success in running the ball then it will be a long day for the Hawks.

The Cru has a strong rush defense again but I think the Hawks will have enough of a passing game to put up enough points to win.

same can be said of Whitewater...a lot of dropped passes it seemed like last game, and Donovan was sacked six times i believe.

Barber Greene,

Your statements about UMHB's passing game are true, but this year is a little different.  The QB Seanz is very capable of running the option, but is also a strong passer when he gets his feet set.  If he has to scramble, he is less accurate.  When UMHB needed plays to beat Hardin-Simmons, they went to the air and converted.   I played with last years QB Josh Welch and watched him throughout his career and I believe Seanz is a better thrower without a doubt.  He is also better at running the option.

The UMHB offense has opened up a lot compared to last year and I think you will see more passing out of them due to that fact and also because they will probably not be able to rely completely on the run to control the game vs. a stout UWW defense.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

to add to CruAlum39's statements, kyle noack, the number 2 qb is a good passer and also runs the offense well.  He has seen plenty of time on field this year, even starting over Saenz in a few games late in the season.  The Cru passing game is very different this year than in years past. it will be interesting to see how the cru utilizes it.

I agree, our passing game has to improve tremendously if we are to get past the Cru. I hope it was just a bad game or it was because of the weather. I do know that we'll be in for a long day if MHB can put 8-9 people in the box to stop the run and we can't answer that with an effective passing attack.

Working on pregame notes for this Saturday's UWW at Mary Hardin-Baylor game in Belton.
I'm also watching on my office TV A & Es Criminal Justice Program. The episode I'm watching?  The notorious Belton, Texas case of Kenneth McDuff, the most infamous sexual predator in Texas history, who was sent to death row for three murders, released because of prison overcrowding, and then raped and killed two more women.

YIKES!!!!  >:(

Toby Taff

Released because of Prison over crowding and a Supreme Court decision that commuted his death sentence to life in prison.  IF Texas had been able to handle its business McDuff would never have been out of prison.  Death Row in Texas means you die at the hands of the state not waiting in some long line.

I think Donovan needs to throw the ball away instead of taking the sack....also, the receivers dropped some balls (Slupski dropped a couple I think)

I will definitely agree to the fact that Donovan needs to throw the ball away... and yeah, Slupski had at least two balls in his stomach that he dropped...

Plus, throw to the running backs. What happened to throwing to the full back? Rueland caught a bunch.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Whoa, totally agree!   He holds on to the ball WAY too long at times.  Got to throw it away and save his butt once and awhile .  And, yes, several dropped passes.  TE muffed two that I could have caught!   ;)  But that ball had to be hard as a rock!  Weather in Belton will be much more conducive to both teams passing game.

Yes, using the running back as a check down receiver would give Jeff D another option when pressured

Looking at some of the Defensive statistics for both teams, I would not be one bit suprised if this game looked like the 2006 edition played in Belton.  For those of you with short memories, UWW's Neil Mrkvica returned the opening kick-off for the Warhawk's only score.  The Cru's Line Backers could flat out fly.  I was very impressed with that LB core.  MHB was able to hit a field goal when given good field position by a UWW turnover.  There were a couple of near scores when UWW missed a field goal and an opportunity to sack the MHB QB in the endzone (that kid was tought to tackle, much respect).  MHB missed out on a few scoring chances with a very tall WR going against a very short CB (sorry, Gabe).  However, Gabe Schultz played a monster game against a very talented WR with a great size advantage.  The final was 7-3.  In any event, I expect a very low scoring game with a fair amount of rushing yards by both teams, but minimal passing yards (again, by both teams).

GO 'HAWKS!

I would like to go to Salem next weekend.
We don't rebuild.  We reload.  Finish the mission.

That was a great game.  I hope this weekend is as good.

"So when it was announced near the end of the Crusaders' romp Saturday that Whitewater had defeated Wartburg (Iowa) 34-17 and would be traveling to Belton for the semifinals, UMHB's players and fans clapped, cheered and hollered."-Temple Daily Telegram

"And we can't wait to play them. It's like a present for our senior class to get to play them again."- Josh Littlejohn

I know no one needs any more motivation this weekend than they will already have. I don't have any illusions that posts on this board could affect the outcome of a game. Sounds like Josh is assuming some triple revenge here. I guess we will find out how sweet this gift is by late Saturday afternoon. Maybe I'll bring some wrapping paper into the Hawks locker room as  a visual for them. As hard as they've worked since last year's Stagg Bowl, they didn't realize they were working hard so they could be fodder to make UMHB's run to the Stagg Bowl this year all the sweeter. Interesting that UMHB actually prefers to play UWW to Wartburg. Well, they got their wish!

This is a quote from the American Southwest Conference Board:

"Not sure if you knew it our not CRU96, but UMHB is actually throwing a "Not In Our House" pep rally on Friday night and giving away free t-shirts to 500 students. Not sure if I like the idea though considering the last time they made customized shirts for a game that I can recall was the 2004 HSU game that said "Your House, Our House, doesn't really matter" and the Cowboys destroyed the Cru. I realized I am just being superstitious but that is too close for comfort for me."

ANYONE WANT TO MAKE SOME T-SHIRTS??  ;D

Ah yes the Cru in 04-- That has a ring to it
