Classic. List 75 REASONS why you lose, then say NO EXCUSES. Come back when you got something. Right now, you've got WW beating you 3 times in a row to deal with. Only one way to deal with that. Win one. Till then, no one is interested in how good you are.

UWW knows something of dealing with injuries to significant players. In 06 you had to play most of the season without Beaver. I am sure there were times during the 06 season that "what if Beaver were playing" crossed the minds and even the lips of Warhawk fans.

Not really...UWW won all five games with Beaver on the sidelines by an average score of 42.4 to 11.4, including the game Oct 28 right in your backyard.  The only thing that crossed my mind is that Beaver might have rushed for 3,000 yards had he not gotten injuried.  Probably would have set the all-time record and made things a little more difficult for that other guy wearing purple in Ohio.

No doubt, UWW is a monkey on the back of UMHB. I hope the CRU is able to take care of business this Saturday. If UWW wins, you won't hear me make excuses.

Read the post again. Injuries are a reality for every team. The CRU was injured for most of the season. Were the injuries an excuse for the SOU loss, not at all. At the time, I said if the CRU does not get healthy or some players step up, their playoff run could well be one and done. No excuses, just reality. UMHB has bounced back from that loss, gotten healthy and here we are facing UWW in the semis. Win or lose on Saturday, I am proud of what the CRU has accomplished this seasosn.

Reading the stories out of Belton this week, I would say that monkey has grown into a gorilla.   ;)   :D   ;D

the articles during the playoffs in the telegram are always somewhat...different.

How is this for reasons about SOU.  UMHB played horribly; SOU played well and took advantage of every mistake.  I suffered through that game with one thought.  No one else get hurt.  not adding to the MASH list was a big plus.  losing kind of sucked but at least it wasn't a d3 game.

UMHB 24  -  UWW 20.

Since my predictions are so spot on,  ;D, I would think that the Warhawk fans would be ecstatic.

I feel young again...I just did my first backflip in 25 years!!

It's about as good as written in stone now!!   ;)

The CRU must take 2-5 Southern Oregon seriously. There schedule reflects playing up:

Loss to D3 #16 Willamette
Loss to 1 D2
Loss to 1 D1AA

I don't disagree, but i'd rather see them leave Oregon healthy.  If this one slips by, no damage done in d3 world.  this is one of the few times I've been glad there's not a conference game in late october.

...excuses, excuses!!     ;)

It is not our intention to make excuses.  The great part about all the banter is that we will get to see it unfold tomorrow at high noon.  (Has quite a ring to it!)   ;)

No excuses, just respect.

Weather should be a non-factor. Weather.com reports that it should be 60 degrees and windy.  (We call that Cru-like conditions, still very nice in December even for Texas).

Either way it should be good for both teams.

Safe travels UWW to Belton.  Enjoy our hospitality, and a great game.

Humble, but hungry!  Go Cru!

Guess I will wade in with my $.02 on the game.  We all agree that this will be a very hard, tough, physical game for both teams and I am with BW, very nervous about the outcome for several reasons such as, (speaking of injuries,) the Hawks are a little banged up.  Now, almost all teams are who are playing at this time of year but apparently, the Cru is in top shelf shape.   :)  Secondly, sure wish this game was being played at the PERK!  I witnessed first hand the defensive stalemate in 06 and the atmosphere in Belton.  I am very relieved that being a NCAA play-off game the, "drums," will not be present as they produced one of the loudest environments that I have watched a D3 game be played in.  Regarding the SOU loss, doesn't mean a thing to me.  We lost a game we never should have either and while we can't hang our hat on the ole' injury excuse, I would say that we may have forgotten that just putting on a uniform and taking the field at the PERK did not secure an auto win.  It resulted in a gut-check for the young WARHAWKS that paid dividends as the season went on.  STP was good but I felt we played flat and without that stumble, the Cru would very possibly be eating breakfast in Wisconsin this morning.  Now to the matchup.  I get that this is not the same Cru that we have played that last 3 games.  Looks like they have more weapons and our offense, while getting it done every week has hardly been on auto-pilot.  I am expecting a defensive struggle of massive proportions tomorrow but there is nothing that gives me more comfort than to know that we will need our DEFENSE to come up big.  I stated earlier this week on the Pick em's board that if the WARHAWKS DEFENSE can play tough, I expect they will, than our offense can do enough to get the win.  Our DEFENSE has held the Cru to 3 TD's and 1 FG in three meetings and this years WARHAWK DEFENSE, is as solid as any of those past teams in most respects. Our front 7, as a unit, is as good as the 07 team and with Borland being very familiar with the CRU, he will have the boys prepared.  And, yes, many players agreed that the Cru's defense was the toughest they played last year and I don't expect anything less this year.  In other words, I highly doubt that they are any better than the 06, 07 version and we won against them.  To the UMHB poster who said, "you haven't played a team as good as this one yet this year," I would just say, DITTO.  In reading the boards this week, I have loved the level of respect both program's posters have shown for each other.  Wish I was in Belton enjoying that 60-70 degree weather and the great Texas hospitality. Fans were great and had some of the best BBQ I ever ate at a place just south of Belton.  Can't remember the name but might know it if I read it.   Glad to see the boys flew charter, the travel delays in 06 made it a brutal road trip.  I am so proud of the young WARHAWKS for making it this far!  With the graduation of the 23 seniors, 17 of them starters, it was a huge hill to climb but they have exceeded many expectations and tomorrow is just one more day to play.  Good luck to both teams, hoping for no injuries and safe travels to all.

Ah, the Couch Cru. We sure love to the beat the cans.  Garabage cans, tin drums, and the like. What a Cru tradition often emulated, but never perfected.   :D

footballfan413,

Many BBQ places and good Mexican food.  (Maybe Shoepf's or Clem's) I am glad that your trip was pleasant and memorable. The '06 game established this level of respect and rivalry.  The Cru have benefitted from playing the Warhawks.  I hope the same is true.  Wishing the Warhawks a great game, and I for one will tip my hat to the winner, and for them to represent and win the Stagg Bowl!

Good luck Warhawks...represent the WEST!!

Its just one more step onto another showdown with the Raiders.

Sounds familiar.  You walk in and get your BBQ staight off the grill, (dirt floors, I believe,) and then go inside where you carry your plate down the line getting your sides buffet style?  True Texas BBQ!  We loved it.  Hated those cans though, especially when our QB was trying to call out the snap count!   ;)
