I'm not a big Pam Ward fan, but I think she was made even worse by having to pair with Chris Spielman. I did think they were better than Curry and his counterpart.

Good luck to the Warhawks as they defend their National Title in Salem.....should be an amazing game....Warhawks will fly under the radar yet again and stun the Purple Raiders 31-28, solidifying a new Division 3 football dynasty.....

I agree with everything you said in your post, especially the stuff you said about Pam Ward, but I had to take issue with one point on here.  I agree that the game will be close (although I do disagree about who will come out on top, but what kind of fan would I be if I thought Mount would lose?) but if Whitewater wins, let's not get ahead of ourselves on this whole dynasty thing yet.  Back to back champions is great, but not a dynasty.  Case in point, are the Houston Rockets a NBA dynasty?  They won back to back championships in the 1990s.  I do believe that Whitewater looks like they will be a power for some time to come, but it's not time to crown the new king yet.  The Machine is still up and running, and still the dynasty in DIII.  Whitewater could be on the verge of creating a dynasty if they knock Mount off in consecutive years, but not solidifying one.
They should have practiced harder.

Pam Ward once called our fullback a "butterball" in the '04 Stagg Bowl as he broke a 15 yard run.  I'm still not sure if that is a technical term in football, but I've never heard it since.   ;)

I actually need to thank her for it because I still make fun of him to this day! :D
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

In reading WillieWarhawk's post and rf1983's response, it started me wondering if having a good football  team for a few years in dIII is enough to perpetuate a dynasty. Being a St John's alum, I think that the football program and John G, are not the only reason to attend that school. It is unique and special for many reasons. I think my fellow Johnnies would agree with me.

Is there anything about UWW that makes it different from other schools of the UW system. Surely Whitewater isn't a city that draws better than La Crosse, Oshkosh or Eau Claire.  I'm interesred in what else draws high school grads to UW Whitewater over the others. If any MUC fans want to put in their $.02, feel free.

We need something other than the usual bragging and taunting to fill up some time before the big game.

And she also said TWICE that Mount runs a 5-2-5 defense.  No wonder they've won so much, noone noticed 12 guys on the defense before?  I can't stand listening to Pam Wad.

And yes, I left off the "e" on purpose

My favorite broadcaster of previous Staggs was Bill Curry.  He truly enjoys and knows small school football.   The rest of the ESPN hacks look at Salem and D3 as not worthy of their attention or time.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I agree with hscoach I like Bill Curry even though he said my son's stance reminded him of a grasshopper.....actually I don't mind Pam Ward but it could be worse. As for Retagent aren't we all sick of hearing about the Johnnie dynasty and what a great school it is. I went to St.Thomas, a similar school to St. Johns, only not in the middle of the woods and certainly not as good in football. St. Thomas a good liberal arts school just like St. Johns....I believe no one would argue against that Whitewater has a very good Accounting/Business program;as well as, an excellent education program. As for Whitewaters athletic facilities they are simply terrific. I could have received a very good education at UWW just like I received as a Tommie/Johnnie....I am certain you won't agree and that is your right. There are many reasons to attend UWW not just athletics but if you are an athlete I don'y think the Johnnies compare except in hockey.....Certainly they no longer compare in football.....

That's because Flash imagines her NAKED as he listens.   :P

That's how Flash rolls........

Soooo........what is one of "the best" microbrews in WI at this time, and can we get some down at the tailgate?

I will be happy to exchange a Lake Erie (actually Great Lakes but I wanted to make sure you knew from which lake the water originated  ;D) Christmas Ale for a taste.....

They actually sell Great Lakes beers in Racine, WI.  Elliot Ness and Fitzgerald (I think  ???)  Isn't it brewed in Cleveland?
We don't rebuild.  We reload.  Finish the mission.

Is there a Warhawk fans shindig at the team hotel Friday night?

Maybe for next year, we could petition ESPN to sign Pat to a one-game contract.

It is.  Elliot Ness is an amber lager.  Edmund Fitzgerald is a porter.  I'd be willing to bet they also sell Dortmunder Gold Lager up there, that's the standard brew.  If you can find it, I'd recommend either Burning River Pale Ale or Commodore Perry IPA.

If you ever have reason to be in Cleveland proper, I'd suggest you make a trip to their brewpub in Ohio City (one of Cleveland's historic neighborhoods).  They really do brew great beer, and they are growing in distribution and sales very quickly.  They've been around since the early nineties.

Sorry to hijack your board, but as a Clevelander I jump at the chance to pump up my city.

Gee sakman, :o Don't get your dress up over your head. I was asking because I only went to one school and therefore have no other experience to compare it to.

St John's being in "the middle of the woods" is one of its charms. St Thomas, being in the city might be an allure to someone who found being in the middle of the woods a little to focusing. I'm not trying to denegrate any other school, just trying to educate myself.

I would hold off on burying SJU as a football power. It was a down year, and losing in the first round of the playoffs is not something I want to get used to. However, MAKING the playoffs 20 of the last 32 years is something most schools would be proud of. Many of those years were before there were 32 teams in the playoffs.

Now, is there anyone who wants to address this without being bilious and defensive?

We educate a lot of teachers, accountants and business people.  I came to WHITEWATER because my girlfriend and another close friend did.  lol  I also prefer smaller communities and it was close to Madison and Milwaukee when I wanted to go there.

As an aside I just want to confirm that you are picking Mount Union, right?

I was wondering if the MIAC had an automatic bid during those years in which there weren't 32 teams in the playoffs.

I can live with Pam though I wish someone better were doing it.  But you get what you get and I'm just glad we aren't getting Tony Kornheiser or however you spell it.

Pam Ward is not the worst one out there ... but she's not on the top shelf by any means.  We could do better, but we could also do worse.

I thought Ray Bentley did a pretty good job last year.  He correctly called for the reversal of the Kmic non-touchdown right away, and was fairly steady.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Ya, go easy on retagent, Sak.  Hell, he's practically one of us these days!   ;) ;D

Pam is the worst, IMHO.  Mentioned twice in 06 that MUC ran a 5-2-5 defense.   I tried to find an e-mail address for her after last years Stagg but couldn't find one to explain very courteously to her that her comment about, "none of these players were offered scholarships to play at a higher level," is not necessarily true.  Probably a good thing I couldn't find it.   ;D  Thought Bentley did a fine job, however.
