Newspaper article out of Temple, Texas showing still photos of the 2nd half kick-off hitting at the 41 and going backwards before being touched at the 24.  Also has quote from UMHB Head Coach saying he doesn't want to cry over it, but does anyway (sound familiar?) - now calls it a blown call by the SCIAC officials - and wants the NCAA to have instant replay at significant games like this (good luck with that  ;) )

Good luck with that is right. I just don't see it happening as it would cost way too much money. Besides, you start looking at the teams throughout d3 and how many of them have the infrastructure to add this? I would say St. Norbert, no (long shot to make, it I know, but still, and example of a perennial playoff team that I know). But once again the bottom line is the NCAA won't spend the money on it, IMO.

I hope I don't get killed for this, but from these pics it looks like UWW got away with one. Coach Fedenburg is right though, you can't really put too much blame on the officials, maybe if it hit the 45, but it's pretty close.

Get ready for the barrage of excuses from Texas.

I just got back to these boards after a few days of being out of town and would just like to reply to Jane.  Other than one guy on the Daily Dose, I am proud of the way the Cru fans handled this hugely disappointing loss to the warhawks.  I think this quote now appears to be way out of line!  Perhaps a retraction or acknowledgement of error would be appropriate.

Good luck to the Warhawks!  You always want to be able to say you lost to the Champions!  See you at the Stag Bowl and Stone Station!!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Consider it retracted. True sportsmen all, you Texans.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Uhh, perhaps I am wrong, but I don't recall Coach Fred ever crying about something before.  He has been a great coach and has given props to those who have beaten us, so don't go hatin on 'em cause he cries foul this time, come on!

When it came down to it, you are right, we should have marched down into the wind and scored on the next drive.  That would have put us back in contention, but we didn't.  WW had the same wind we had and they worked it well.  We didn't and we are staying home.  Nuff said.

Good luck!  Take it and sale that mount Warhawks!  I'll be cheering you on!  ;D
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Instant replay is not the easiest way to correct what happened in Texas last week... UMHB coming out and driving down for a touchdown on their next drive would've worked just fine.

I agree.  Great teams take the momentum back after a bad break and with the Warhawks out scoring the Cru 27 to 3 in the second half, seems like it, ultimately, had very little to do with the outcome.

I see on WarhawkFootball.com that they are having a party for milwaukee alums to watch the title game.  Any Chicago area fans interested in getting together to watch the game?  Go Hawks!!!

I really hate, hate, hate instant replay.

Players make mistakes, coaches make mistakes and so do the officials. They are just part and parcel of the game. However, bad calls do tend to even out over the course of a game and a season.

The 2nd half kickoff of the UMHB vs UWW game, while weird, did not significantly impact the outcome of the game.

By the way, did I say that I really hate, hate, hate instant replay?

Play well against Mount, Warhawks... leave no doubt.

Small but Slow

For the past three or four years the NCAA has used instant replay at the Stagg Bowl.  I imagine they will utilize the ESPN technology again this year.

From ESPN's TMQ:

QuoteDouble Bonus Obscure College Score: Mount Union 45, Wheaton of Illinois 24 (Division III semifinal). Mount Union's Nate Kmic became the all-time NCAA leading rusher at 7,986 career yards, surpassing -- surely you know! -- Danny Woodhead. Woodhead, who played for Chadron State, broke the record previously held by -- surely you know! -- R.J. Bowers. Woodhead went undrafted, had a tryout with the Jets and was waived. Bowers, who played for Grove City College, spent a year on the Steelers' practice squad, then carried seven times for Pittsburgh in a late-season game. Kmic has one more appearance, next weekend's Division III championship versus Wisconsin-Whitewater, in which to extend his record. The Division III championship is called -- surely you know! -- the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. Not to be confused with Wheaton College of Massachusetts, Wheaton College of Illinois, located in Wheaton, Ill., held its annual Christmas Festival three weeks before Christmas.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

What has happened to warhawkfootball.com?  Anyone else not able to view the page?  If the voice is nearby any updates coming for championship weekend?  Looking forward to Saturday.

KitchenSink

I haven't been able to get on it either.

Tough timing - with UWW football at a fever pitch!

I'm sure voice will get it back up asap.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

GBMAN

This may be a foolish question, but is there a line on this game?

1_For_27

GBMAN,

I was in vegas the week of the wartburg game and talked to people at several different sports books and they told me that they don't remember ever having a line on the d3 final.  I could have got someone new but that was the info i was told... Go Hawks +10

Well good for you but us Warhawks fans most certainly appreciated instant replay in last years Stagg Bowl. Especially for us who were there and couldn't see TV feeds.  ;)
I respectfully disagree that last weeks missed call on the second half kick off didn't have an impact on the outcome. You come out planning on D first. But not from your own side of the feild on a kickoff let alone the kick  ::) Holding UWW to a feild goal or nothing would have been a bit of a morale boost. But one play and bam, that had to hurt the confidence big time. Not saying that it was the end of the game there and then but man I'd think that few teams in D3 have the firepower to over come that swing very often.

The OAC Pick 'em board has MUC favored by 9.5.
