How does a match-up between two conference champs put anything MIAC/WIAC to rest.  Most anyone will admit that the WIAC is stronger top-to-bottom.  It doesn't really matter what teams #2 through last place could do in whatever conference, does it?  Put it on the field, if you win, all that says is UWW was better than SJU on the 26th.  If SJU wins, it means SJU was better on the 26th.  I could care less what Bethel, Platteville, River Falls, St. Olaf and the rest of the conferences are doing right now.

I have to agree with most of what Duffman has to say here.  This game will prove who is the better team on one day, not which conference is better.  "Which comference is better," depends on what constitutes, "better," and that is open to many different interpretations.

BW--would love to be at Perkins, but have to pick my wife up from 6:00 a.m. flight so to turn around and head down to WW from Mpls. area doesn't have a lot of appeal right now. But it's an outside possibility.

My previous post was a response to one which compared the bottom feeders on SJU schedule to their counterparts in the WIAC. I know the kind of response this will get, but if you want to go back to the last MIAC team to schedule RF, UST in the mid-90's, you'll find four lopsided UST losses and a refusal to renew the series.

Now, here's another opinion with no possible proof: Gags is a great coach, no doubt, but his record would not be nearly as impressive had he coached most of his career in the WIAC instead of the MIAC. If I were he, I'd have made the same decision he made when he had the chance to move to another school a few years back--stay at SJU. Let me make this clear: I'm not dissing Coach Gagliardi.

HAVE AT IT!

See Kilted's post a few pages back!!!  Then go buy some FreBreeze   ;D

I think that's an assinine statement.  A great coach is going to be a great coach whether it is in the MIAC or WIAC.  I have no doubt that he would have won just as many in the WIAC.  What's next? Larry Kehres wouldn't win as much in the WIAC?  Great coaches do what it takes to get it done.

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24
National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

But Duff,

RF rollled on the St. Thomas at the time they were terrible.  Just goes to prove that the last place team in the WIAC is a 2nd tier team in the WIAC.

Imagine giving Gagliardi the power to recruit "Phy. Ed" and "Genral Studies" students from Wisconsin------ ;D

Hey all you SJU fans,

As a complete WIAC guy, I have to admit that right here next to my PC is one of the best books I have ever read.

My autographed copy of "The Sweet Season" is one of my prized possesions.

Coach Gagliardi was gracious enough to personalize the book for me, and he is obviously one hell of a coach.  :)

ritz72,

No problem on the joke. I read the book in 2 sittings in 1 day.

I am actually heading into Johnny country for Thanksgiving as my spousal unit hails from near Little Falls.  ;)

Then try to get her to make the detour out to campus.  Especially if you have never been there before.  Best place on earth.  Even with the students not being around it still retains the great presence.
I didn't do it....yet.

Actually Carleton dubs themselves the "Harvard of the Midwest"----and yes, there are some easy classes at all colleges,  but seriously....A "General Studies" major????  I love that one!

I was on the St. Benny's campus a couple years ago when the BlueDevil women played the Blazers in the NCAA hoops tourney.

Otherwise, yes I have been on the SJU campus back in High School when I looked at going there. I didn't have the grades or the bucks.

It is a beautiful place.
