WIAC Athletes of the week:  http://www.wiacsports.com/football/athweek.htm

Congrats to Jeff Donovan and the others

Voice has some nice info about Jeff's play over the last six games...http://www.warhawkfootball.com/newswire.asp

"Through UWW's last six games, dating back to the Hawks' 2008 NCAA Division III playoff opener vs. St Johns (Minn), Donovan has been on an absolute tear.
Including Saturday's victory over Dickinson State, Donovan has completed 101 of 154 passes for 1,313 yards, 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. That is a .656 percent completion average.

His last two games (2008 Stagg Bowl & 2009 season opener), Donovan is 51 of 70 (.728 completion average) for 606 yards."

Early last season he was throwing the ball down field into coverage. I think he has learned that he doesn't have to do that with the Hawks' defense and running game.

Passing         Att-Cmp-Int Yds TD Long Sack

Jeff Donovan      38-28-1    257  0   18    2

He did throw one int! :o
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Congrats to all for a WIAC sweep this weekend.   With the fight RF put up against the Johnnies and the decisive win by Oshkosh over Ripon, parity is alive and well in the conference and we showed, once again, that we deserve our, "toughest conference in D3," title!

I'm a little late with this but I was just wondering what the definition of "sweep" is in this context. (Congrats to all for a WIAC sweep this weekend.)  ???

Do ya just have to get close? ::)

Opps!  My very bad!  Forgot about U-RF.  Maybe I was subconsciously congratulating myself on my "sweep," in the Pick em's!  You, too, of course.   ;)

With your seal of approval, fbf413, I'm going to consider my 5 of 6 result (Ripon over Oshkosh the lone hiccup) on the week 1 pickem's a sweep. I'm in need of a morale boost   ;D  :D  ;) .

You sure don't need my approval, BoBo, but since you asked, you got it.  Honestly, a sweep the first week is nothing more than a nice start anyway.  Besides, it will probably be a whole different story after tomorrow.   ;)

Feature story from the Fremont (NE) Tribune on Khalid Waters, sophomore running back from LaMesa CA for Midland Lutheran, in Whitewater to take on the Warhawks today.

"This will be our hardest test coming up this week," Waters said.

UWW scored at will today against MLC today in a laugher. the game was over by the first quarter. They didn't punt till the fourth quarter after the first team offense only played two quarters. After two games Donovan continues to impress by tying a UWW record with 5 TD's thrown today.....accomplishing it in only one half!!! 8) So far JD has thrown 7 TD's on 521 yards passing. in two (1.5) games this year. With two 1000 yard rushers returning this year, UWW has come out slinging the ball all over the the field....air out the rock!!!

Their defense gave little time for the QB to get settled in the pocket today, causing all sorts of troubles. They forced 4 turnovers and yeilded only 92 yards. Not bad, gave up roughly 200 yards in two games against a pair of scholarship offering schools.

Keep up the strong play!!

UWW scored at will today against MLC Puget Sound today in a laugher. the game was over by the first quarter.

02, did a little editing of your comments to make it easily reprintable in 2 weeks. It will be déjà vu all over again against the Loggers.  Lightly regarded Pomona beat them today in OT.  The way Donovan is in sync w/his receivers, I gotta think the single game TD record could be in jeopardy if Leipold allows him.  Only time will tell.  Anderson got a banged up ankle today and someone on the defense had an arm in a sling (not to be confused with JD slinging it) after the first half.  Any idea who?  Voice wouldn't say over the air.  Good to have a couple weeks to rest up.

Lane Olson. I don't know exactly what it was though. Great win by the Hawks though. Glad to see everyone in the Perk.......No comment on MLC. I had enough of those already today.

Thanks Warhawk 96. Let's hope his injury is not serious.  He's a valuable part of that Warhawk 'D.'

Couple other notables:

3 penalties/13 yds for Whitewater - home cooking?

Field judge named  G. Jagodzinski - any relation?

St. John's - 35  UW-EC - 27 .... Johnnies got some bounces (5 fumbles, only one lost), but moved the ball very well all day long. 'Golds pulled a great strategic move in the final minute ... letting St. John's score with :55 left ...caught Gagliardi and company by surprise.... EC then drove to the 9, but missed on two chances in the final 6 seconds.

Great atmosphere as always at Clemens ... but a tough loss for EC ... last chance for Sartorelli and Paulson to beat the Johnnies.

coco

Maybe today's score indicates why some of us hadn't heard of Midland Lutheran.
What a beatdown. Sheesh!

I hope UPS puts up a little more respectable showing against you guys.

Congratulations to Eau Claire on a tough loss today.  Game could have gone either way.

Funny thing coco, last year UWW/UPS had nearly the same result.  Everyone would certainly like a respectable showing by UPS this year.  However, I have no expectations for one.  Stranger things have happened, though.

I believe that is Jeff Jagodzinski's brother!

I have to say the WIAC win of the week has to go to P'ville. way to go into zweifel land and steal a W, after an impressive win a week ago for Dubuque.. I was very pleased with that.
