Absolutely...however, it does, afterall, take two to tango.

Sorry to have misrepresented your comments.  After going back to review them, I see that I was careless to twist your words around the way I did.

All I am saying is they maybe the most talented .....that does not mean they will go all the way but it sure gives them a leg up....for the last 5 years there have been some really talented teams that just came up short in the last game because of great Mount Union teams and a sub par performance in some areas by our guys.....hopefully the 2009 edition can replicate 2007.......

Should I? or shouldn't I? Nah I'll wait. ;D

The Warhawks look very good so far this season, and have a great chance to be back in Salem again. The question what team is out there this season
that can derail their Salem visit in the post-season?
Is it Linfield, Mary Hardin Baylor or someone else. Mount Union's test is more predictable given the teams from the North, East and South that the Raiders have seen on several occasions.

Yes, UWW has looked very good so far this season. And yes, the ONLY competition to either UWW or Mount comes in the form of other WIAC teams, Linfield, MHB, and perhaps Hardin Simmons. If St. John's or Central puts together one of their special teams they could be a threat. Other than that nothing.  Sorry fans of EVERY TEAM in the North and the East! But it's the truth. In other words. Mount Union will again play NOBODY until the Stagg Bowl. They will continue to be there every year until someone in the NORTH or EAST steps up and does something about it by building a National Level program. Until then it will be Mount 55 whothehellcares 7. Every week until the Stagg. Mount has been very successful in winning their one game a year. It would have been interesting to see how healthy and how eliminated they may have been had they had to play through the WEST AND SOUTH just once!
Yup that sums it up pretty well.  UWW has looked great so far but as many of us have pointed out repeatedly, they haven't played anyone of substance yet.   Now, Central has played an upper tier WIAC team and come away with a W and that is a start in the the measuring department.  That is why I referred to them as a, "team on the comeback trail."  But it doesn't do as much when looked at in the reverse.  I think the result says more about Central than where UW-STP will be this year.  That will take a few more games.

And Dutch, of course, the Whitewater fans want to take it one day at a time and dominate rather than just survive but this is the WIAC and the West Region, afterall.  That fact comes with a certain reality.  BTW, of the 4 Warhawk Stagg Bowl teams,  the 05 team came the closest to dominating their opponents by outscoring them 617-245.  (06 was a close second.)  Guess which team outscored their opponents by the least?  Yup, the 07 team!  ;)

Come on, BoBo, don't pull out the, "dead horse," trophy yet.  The board has been fun the last few days.   ;D

He's right you know, Bobo.  Your glasses do have a very, very light shade of lilac at times, just kidding  (but don't we all.)   ;) Hope the daughter is feeling better.
Or maybe not since it seems to get you more time on the boards.   ;D

Ya, I figured but JF spends all his time on the MIAC board.  He always has plenty of entertainment.   ;D

Oh, btw, this was interesting, as first seen on warhawkfootball.com.  Seems Derek Stanley, WR and PR for the Rams and former Warhawk is now "Professor" Stanley, as he is part of a group of Rams players conducting Football University for the Ladies.  For $60 students get all the ins and outs of football presented by their favorite Rams players.  Here he is on the early morning  Fox2 St. Louis Televsion show being interview about the program.  I guess this is his 2nd year being part of this program. There's a lot of men who need a program like this as well, but that doesn't seem to be offered.

The Rams also just signed former Packer WR Ruvell Martin to the team.

Anytime you can beat a WIAC team, it is a good win. I think the Pointers lofty ranking, prior to playing a game, helped flame the enthusiasm of a couple Dutch posters. Last year they won 4 games by one point and beat UWP 3-0. Then they lose at home to Wartburg and now lose to Central on the road. No disrespect to the Pointers, I know they are a good team and had a great year last year. But the odds of them being 6-4 or 5-5 is probably better than the odds of them being a top ten team. Central fans don't want to hear it, but I think they could lose a couple games this year too. Which would make the comparisons to past championship teams just a little bit silly.

Bears do a similiar program called, Football 101.  Usually the low players on the totem pole get roped into doing it.  Derek fits the bill and I am sure the ladies love him.   ;)

Well said!!  Finally someone who did their homework.  Well done Thunderbolt +k

The gal interviewing seemed to have a warm spot for him, too.

After the performance last Sunday night, I think the Bears should be declared academically ineligible - sorry couldn't resist the set up!!  ;)

Taking a second glance, I guess I would change one thing.  Would switch St. Johns and Hardin-Simmons. The Johnnies long and storied history of winning gives them the nod over HS, IMHO.

Some interesting discussion.  Whether Point won all their games by one point or fifty points doesn't really matter.  The fact remains they won them and they beat us.  Beckwith and Jenkins gave us fits last year.  Both return and there is no reason to think they won't be a load to handle again this year.  Not to mention every other WIAC program who all look to be improved.

It would be a foolish mistake to look past any of our opponents WIAC and/or otherwise.  Fortunately the staff is well aware of this and keeps the team focused.

Dutch if WSP was as talented as the 2005 UWW team as you surmised they would have won Saturday.......

.....and as I remember that 2005 game, the Pointers would have won saturday in a rout - it wasn't a Wesley type of rout (only 34-14), but a rout nevertheless.  I think we need to call for a foot in mouth surgeon for Dutchfan2004!!  ;)

Yes it was a three score game and the Warhawks deserved the win.  But if the luck part of that game happened I think the Dutch could have had the W.  The dropped 2 passes in the endzone which is 14 and if you didn't get the pick six the Dutch would have tied won by one.  I am not crying sour grapes by any stretch.  The Warhawks won and deservedly so.  You seem to dismiss my judgement on the UWSP team.  I think they have some talent and they just might get the Warhawks if the get the breaks is all I was trying to say.  Good luck to your conference in the upcoming season.

I'm not soley dismissing your appraisal of the Pointers based on the 1 game you witnessed involving a WIAC school in the last 5 years.  I said earlier I agree they are a good team, very unpredictable recently, but talented. If I am dismissing your opinion it's based on the fact that every year there seems to be some drive by coming on here telling the WIAC board that this is the year the Warhawks get knocked off their perch w/o any solid evidence to back it up. With basically the entire team returning from their 4th consecutive Stagg Bowl appearance, there is a mountain of evidence to counter anything you might dream up. I think we can we agree that key injuries or "luck," as you cited as your evidence, cannot be fully anticipated in any venture, let alone during the football season.  So, using that angle as your rationale doesn't pass the common sense test with me. To turn a phrase around, I would rather be good than lucky.  02 Warhawk said it best.

Let me make it clear I never said that the Warhawks were not going to win the WIAC.  All I was saying is that UWSP may have something to say about that.  I don't pretend to know the WIAC better than you.  Until someone does knock of UWW they should be expected to be the front runner.  I merely was stating that it won't be an easy road.
