All I am saying is they maybe the most talented .....that does not mean they will go all the way but it sure gives them a leg up....for the last 5 years there have been some really talented teams that just came up short in the last game because of great Mount Union teams and a sub par performance in some areas by our guys.....hopefully the 2009 edition can replicate 2007.......

Should I? or shouldn't I? Nah I'll wait. ;D

The Warhawks look very good so far this season, and have a great chance to be back in Salem again. The question what team is out there this season
that can derail their Salem visit in the post-season?
Is it Linfield, Mary Hardin Baylor or someone else. Mount Union's test is more predictable given the teams from the North, East and South that the Raiders have seen on several occasions.

Yes, UWW has looked very good so far this season. And yes, the ONLY competition to either UWW or Mount comes in the form of other WIAC teams, Linfield, MHB, and perhaps Hardin Simmons. If St. John's or Central puts together one of their special teams they could be a threat. Other than that nothing.  Sorry fans of EVERY TEAM in the North and the East! But it's the truth. In other words. Mount Union will again play NOBODY until the Stagg Bowl. They will continue to be there every year until someone in the NORTH or EAST steps up and does something about it by building a National Level program. Until then it will be Mount 55 whothehellcares 7. Every week until the Stagg. Mount has been very successful in winning their one game a year. It would have been interesting to see how healthy and how eliminated they may have been had they had to play through the WEST AND SOUTH just once!

Bleedpurple, ( I do too)

Well you know the Raiders face the OAC every year which is rated the second best conference in D3 to start with. The OAC consistantly has a second team in the playoffs and those teams consistantly continue to advance in the playoffs until they have to return to Alliance for the rematch. There is always at least one other and sometimes two OAC schools ranked in the top 25 every year even though it may be different teams in different years. I hardly think the Raiders are only playing "ONE"  game a year and think if you want to re-evaluate your statement the results would be quite the same. UWW chose to pick up the Raiders for a home and home in "02 & '03 and didn't fare too well but certainly learned from it.

A little memory lane here. In 2008 MOUNT  who "plays only one game a year" defeated the #2 UWW, #5 Wheaton, #6 Cortland State, #17 Hobart and #19 Otterbein to win it all.
UWW played #1 MUC, #3 MHB,#4 Willamette, #10 Wartburg and non ranked SJU squad. The Raiders played six ranked teams to get to the championship...hardly a one game season.

In 2007 Mount beat # 4 Bethel (from the west) 62-14 ahem, #7 St John Fisher, #15New Jersey, #21 Ithaca and #13 Capital in the regular season. WW played Mount, #3 MHB, #10 Wabash, #11 NC, and #13 Capital. Head to head on Capital was MUC win 37-0 and UWW win 34-14. Pretty equal.

IN 2006 The Raiders faced UWW, #3 Capital, #4 SJF, #16 Wheaton, and Hope that ended up not rated. UWW faced#5 St Johns, #6 La Crosse, #7 Wesley (tough south team?)and St Norbert  which was not rated at the years ened.

In 2005 Mount #2WW, #4 Rowan, #5 Capital, #13 Augustana and Mt Saint Joseph wihich was not rated at year end.
UWW played MUC, #3 Linfield, #7 St Johns, #10 Wesley, #16 Central.

I would say there are some pretty equal paths to the Stagg for both of us. I assume you will claim those victories over Wesley one of those power house south teams you refer to.

Hardly a one game season IMHO. When you get to the Stagg it is assumed it is best of the best would you not agree? So it is that one game series for all the marbles. Since 93  the Raiders are 10W, 2L and four semi final losses in our one game seasons. I realize at 1-3 in the Stagg  & 1-5 OA vs Mount maybe WW could get up for at least that "one" game a year you refer to.  ;)

One of your own has stepped up to the plate the next two years so what can be said about that? We'll play anybody just call.

Next I hope to see Central give LK a call for '12 & '13. I can get them the number.

Bottom line...Mount vs South, East, North or West the stats would be virtually the same, I think they have sufficiently proved that over the last 25 years.

Lets call it how it is:

Today in D3 football there are 2 power houses.  After that the teams drop off.  I know what you will say Point beat UWW.  But after that they choked in the first round of the playoffs.

We all know that is going to come down to MU and UWW this year and the next to follow.

I can't believe I am agreeing with you but......there is still that game where a team is waiting in the weeds to knock you off. The Raiders have that team this week with ONU who has already beat #4 North Central. Then they will face a ranked Otterbein team later in the year. BW, John Carrol and Capital all have the ability to jump up and bite you in the a$$ too if you are not ready so any talk of MUC playing soft for the one game is ridiculous. It is true they would much rather have some more meaningful challenges during the season because it only makes you better for the playoffs. I think UWW would agee. ;)

I will give you ONU and Capital but John Carrol and Otterbein those are 25 pts wins easy.  ONU and Captial are good teams.

All I am saying is when playoff time rolls around MU and UWW will prevail regardless the situation.

At least you can always count on Goo to make these type of comments.

I am not saying those are not the two top teams, but the WIAC has definitely started to catch back up with UWW.  The Warhawks were dangerously close to not being in the playoffs last season.  You cannot make Salem if you are not in the playoffs.

+ K to goo for keeping it real and speaking the facts...

DBG : who has caught uww??? outside of point getting one from them last year the league has and will continue to owned by the warhawks.  The best rivalry of my time in the WIAC UWWvsUWLAX has been lacking the past few years. I wish the league was wide open every year but it just isn't the case.  Kids coming out of h.s. in WI know that if they want to play for a big program that doesn't wear red they have to go 45 mins southeast.  And as long as they continue to get quality flatlander talent they program will thrive.

Go HAWKS!!!

I will admit there were some close games last year 2008: EC, Stout and the loss to Point.  But the rest of the games they won by 25 points. Close to not making the playoffs now that is just funny.

Eau Claire was 6-4 and Stout 5-5 that is not catching up and we shall see was Point brings to the table this year.

So far this years team sounds like they will runaway with it.  They are killing NAIA teams and all their players arent even 100%

Just be realistic and stop hoping someone is going to knock them of.  Cause its just not going to happen.
The WIAC is catching up HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Devil Badger Gopher

Goo,
You made my point for me.  Eau Claire and Stout both were close and a loss to either of the two would have taken them out of the playoffs.  I mean going from dominating the WIAC with the undefeated streak and only three nail-bitters to losing a conference game and cutting it close on two others.  We are talking about 1/2 of the WIAC in this conversation and not even the chief rival, UWL.  To me, that is catching up.

Best to all from the land of Stealth. Nice 2 win start to the season for the Warhawks. Nice that Danny Jones has stayed on another year to support the QB squad. Of course you knew that FB413 ;) The passing game looks great. Thank you.
I ask that all of the enlightened ones who have seen the end of the year in thier magic globes please send me via Fed EX the Power Ball numbers. I promise to drop in from time to time with reports from around the globe on how I am spending the fortune. Bobo roll out the kim chee.

Sorry for the grammer... all of you loser MIAC grads but I have a feeling that UWW is going to the Stagg again.  I know you guys hate this since 2005... but of well.  I really don't care.  Yes I am a former warhawk (kubiack)  and I am very proud of what they have done in the past 5+ years and I would put them up against any team in NAIA or DII. I have not been to a game since 2005 (Weasley) and enjoyed my self running into old teamates from the late 80's / early 90's  Janseville I know you got my back  thats all I have right now, Just finished a bottle of Jack... dont get liquor that often, you got a smart ass remark,  give me an adress and I'm sune that I can be at your adress within the next 9 weeks and we can talk about it, I have lots of time during my vacations :)

Wow, only one bottle? I have a feeling you're going to be a hurting unit in a couple hours. Hang in there, hope to see you at a game this year.

Bobo,
Kim Chee is a fine young lass who has some mad kimchi skills,  ;D Figured I could look her up when I come see you on my world tour spending spree. Hope all is well with you and I am keeping a close eye on the boards for the boys. The new S&R team has been assembled in case they are called to arms.
