I think that Mount Union should be moved to Divsion II.

MUC runs that many JV games because:

--they are allowed through the League
--the majority of games are close-proximity due to the number of Div. II/III schools in Ohio
--having over 200 on the roster (and typically 130+ frosh.) keeps them involved and looking forward to competition
--it's a great opportunity for the coaches to see players in actual game situations vs. practice

Obviously, having the opportunity to schedule that many games is a definite advantage for Mount Union.  However, the majority of the schools in the OAC will run a similar JV schedule.  It is always interesting when MUC plays Div.II Ashland in JV...the last few years the non-scholarship kids have come out on top!

Very interesting and helps to explain their constant ability to reload every season.  It maybe somewhat even within the conference but what about outside?  Considering  that the WIAC mandates a 100 man roster limit, it makes for a unlevel playing field, IMHO. I'd take twice the recruited players to develop over our big, bad, public school, student enrollment advantage any day.   ;) ;D

Doesn't UWW just "Cut" players that aren't going to contribute immediately, to allow them to keep their eligibility and thus play a year or two longer than the normal 4-5 year academic program.  ;)

Normally the Mount Union JV teams play a 10 game schedule. In the past ten years it has varied from 8-10 games. I think it is significant that during those past ten years, they have only lost a few games during that span with a period of a 5 year stretch having not lost at all. The statistics are not very accessible like those of the varsity.

Cmon on now.  Pubic schools do not have the advantage.

Private schools end up being cheaper, there standards are higher until a good player cant reach them then they are brought down and they can keep as many players as they want.  What are the disadvantages there?

I will say that UWW isnt like every public school.  They have great alumni but that is because of there own success and loyalty.  They can only keep 99 players and tuition for out of state is high limiting there recruiting.

That's certainly the state school spin on the matter. Not sure that either side is accurate when it tries to paint the other as having more advantages, though. Isn't anyone tired of this argument yet?

Is there a question in there somewhere?   ;)

I was thinking the same thing myself...then it occured to me that #1 UWW/WIAC basher, OxyBob, hadn't signed in with a comment yet...by law, that would have to happen to make it totally tiresome & ridiculous!!   ;)

I guess my private school education didn't equip me to make myself more understandable to public college grads. The whole point of my post was to say exactly that the arguments about who has the advantage are pointless.  Thus the comment about each school having advantages and disadvantages. It's sort of like golf, the bad breaks and good breaks never seem to even out because it's much easier to reemember your bad breaks. In actuality it usually does even out.

Still not sure what the advantages are for the public schools.  But I would love to stop this debate.

Here is one for you.  Is anyone going to be able to derail the L TRAIN Coppage?

To all you WIAC/UWW whiners.
Maybe a little less condescending when you make your points would help all the stupid, public college grads like myself understand your points better.

Any WW posters coming up for the game Saturday?

Chances are good that I'll be in Menomonie for Saturday's game
