Sorry for the repitition there Bobo.

Of course Id rather not go through Alliance before Salem. Given the choice Id take going to UWW and liking our odds better there. Not a slam by any means to the Warhawks, great team that handled us pretty easily in 05, but that was 4 years ago. Id like another shot ;)

Definitely going to be interested in the outcome of UWSP vs UWW this weekend.

Actually this might be the year you might want to try Alliance. Warhawks look pretty unbeatable with all they brought back. The Raiders are not as strong as in years past. However it is a tough place to get a win. It will be interesting to see how all this works out. One game at a time.  ;)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I usually enjoy the playoff dialogue but the Point game is upon us.....seems a little premature. I agree the Warhawks could be better than ever but they still have to beat Point which they have not been great at since we became Warhawk supporters 7 years ago. Pound the Rock boys ......

Ah, yes, but this year we have the, "revenge factor," .............. something this team has only had against the Mount for the last 4 years!   ;) :D ;D

They've been a thorn in the warhawks talons for many years before your time Sakman!!

BoBo - I'm not sure why you think that the West Region would be the lowest seeded division. I think they would be above the South. Again, that presumes that Mount is sent east, and UWW North.

Way too much playoff/seeding talk for me to feel comfortable.   We still have three tough conference opponents to beat.  We could lose anyone of those if we don't bring our A game.

It's likely that our guys will have a little additional motivation to avenge our loss to Point last year.  Unfortunately, with one exception, it hasn't helped us much with Mount Union.

retagent, it's nothing more than a hunch - I'm not one of those number crunchers that can rattle off the OWP OOWP or whatever it is - if MUC and UWW are sent packing to the east and north, respectively, I just think the committee will make the South with Wesley as #1 seed there, the #3 overall seeded region leaving the west as #4 ~ whether it's SJU or Linfield as #1 seed. No specific data to back it up except the instinct of my gut.  ;)

Last year's mishap will have to wait fbf413...we're still taking revenge for the 60-30 pasting in 2003.  BTW, I, too, hope we're better at settling the score with Point then we have been with Mount!!  ;)

I don't mean to take the discussion away from the Point/WW matchup (and from playoff pontification) but HERE is a story from the Stevent Point Journal about the 2011 conference-opponents-as-non-conference-games situation...

It's interesting to see coach Miech's take on it.  By and large, we saw this as a negative... but his quote seems to have it being a positive in terms of the work he's doing as the head coach.

Also,  HERE are the UWW/UWSP game notes for the game this Saturday.  A couple of interesting things to note...

-UWW has outscored opponents 69-0 in the first quarter and 159-12 in the first half.  Point has only allowed 9 first quarter points all season.  Looks like whoever strikes first may be in good shape on Saturday.

-Both teams have won a combined 17 stright WIAC games (Point with 10 straight, WW with 7).

-Point's defense leads the league in sacks with 3 per game.  UWW has only allowed 2 sacks all season.

-The Warhawks have almost doubled Point in terms of scoring for the year (287-154) and the Pointers have allowed more than 3 times as many points as the Warhawks (132-44).

Statistically, it looks like the Warhawks more more than a few... but that's why they play the game!

I think these coaches have been warned by their AD's not to put ones foot in ones mouth regarding the comments they make about the schedule policy. Rather than trying to stir up the hornets nest with a comment with how they really feel, and maybe getting a foot kicked into a different orifice as a result, they are all being good soldiers by following the company line and saying what a great thing it will be. I don't buy it.  Oops, I forgot the horse was dead...

Bobo, why aren't you busting PointSpecial's chops about the dates listed in his signature line.  At least mine didn't go back farther than 20 years!!!

Would any one on here know if the WIAC considered dropping the 10th game to save money?

Perhaps deference based on conference allegiance?  It was brought up though...

Note to football fans:

When the video playing in your signature line is from 1.5 years ago you may want to update your profile.  ;)

Additional note to football fans:

When the years listed on your signature line go back 29 years or more  ::) (especially when announcing to the world a conference championship), it's completely authorized, appropriate & acceptable for anyone to show a :10 video clip of one the best annihilations of a defensive back from a running back at the end of a 60 yard run in Stagg Bowl championship game history, ...oh from 1.5 years ago.   ;)   ;D

Hmm... how about 91 years?  Wrong sport, right conference... btw, I'm running out of characters in my sig... if Point BBall wins more championships or goes to the tournament, then I'll have to figure something else out...

PS - no trouble at all - I could save you 58 characters w/o even trying that doesn't change the message at all...I should go into business as a consultant...right, PS, for a fee I can tell you how to save 58 characters w/o changing your message at all...!!   ;)

02 Warhawk

Found an interesting stat while reviewing this week's WIAC press release. I was looking at the WIAC Coaching Records and only three coaches have winning records in the WIAC.

Leipold (UWW) 17-1
Terry (UWL) 44-23
Miech (UWSP) 98-56-1

P'Grady (UWRF) is right at .500, while Glaser (UWEC) is one game under

02 Warhawk,

What is the consensus on the UWW vs. UWSP game this week? Will it be
a blow-out or a closer game than many expect? Is this UWW's last test
before the playoffs?
