Linfield HAS to play UPS -- it's a conference thing.  Question is -- why did Whitewater play them?

And the answer is....

Because they are one of the few DIII in region teams that were willing to schedule WHITEWATER.  The contract called for home and home meetings so it's over now and I doubt you'll see them on our schedule anytime soon.  Plus travel restrictions placed on WIAC programs may also have an impact on our ability to schedule them in the future.

I give them credit because they're interested in taking their program to anothe level and scheduled an opponent like WHITEWATER to get an idea of what it was going to take.   Much like WHITEWATER did when we scheduled Mount Union a few years back.

I'm guessing that slap at Linfield will not go unnoticed, or unpunished.

If you don't quite get it (being a WIAC alum ;D) The UPS yearly game against Linfield, does not give them a look at what it means to be on "another level?" UWW is soooo vastly superior to ALL OTHER D III programs, that a game against Linfield, St John's, UMHB or Central just won't do the trick? The arrogance of it all. :o

Easy there cowboy....BW was just praising UPS on not shying away from scheduling tougher nonconference opponents...not limited to Whitewater. Don't think he was bashing linfield in anyway.

got to be careful how we word things around here i guess.... ::)    ;D   ;). Non WIAC folk are waiting to pounce on every word.

What? Playing Willamette, Whitworth and LINFIELD every year does not?

I do give them credit as well.

QuoteIf St. Johns or Linfield feels strongly about wanting homefield in the playoffs, they should schedule Whitewater during the REGULAR season so they can have a head to head win for seeding purposes.

Ummm, let's see UWW's phone records to see if they have been trying to fill their dance card by calling McMinnville.  I have no proof either way, but we could get it. I'll try if you'll try.
I would think after the wonderful D3 experience in 2005 they have tried but dates were wrong.

They had home and home scheduled, but St. Johns didn't come to WW. Gags didn't want to make that long a trip, and Brez let them out as they were friends. St. Johns has the balls, but Gags just doesn't like the travel when it's not necessary. Playing RF and EC is good enough.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I guess playing Hardin Simmons and then playing at Oxy in a one and done deal isn't good enough DIII non-conference competition.

It not like Linfield is playing Lakeland *cough* Central *cough*

Unlike the NWC board, very few of the posts, including the one you responded to has ANYTHING to do with Linfield.

But I'm interested in the whole punishment thing. How exactly will the punishment be implement? By lots of unwarranted shots on the message board with the tired and inaccurate allusions to the "WIAC Alum"?

Because there certainly won't be any Linfield punishment leveled against UWW on the football field anytime soon.

You might want to have a doctor check out that cough, if you're gonna include 9-0 Central! :D

Wildcat,

I see from your Avatar you found Linfield's defense! Where was it hiding Saturday when it didn't show up giving up 36 points to Puget Sound?

The defense was hiding in one DLK's rundown apartments in Whitewater.  They did try to hide out in the UWW weight room but they didn't have their ID cards.

What were they doing, praying that UWW gets moved to the North Region?

It's amazing to me what some of you read into people's comments.  I had absolutely no intention of implying we are vastly superior to anyone nor did I intend to come off arrogant or in any manner, shape or form intend to belittle Linfield, Williamette or anyone else.  He asked why we were playing UPS and I answered and gave them credit.  That doesn't mean I don't think Linfield, Williamette or anyone else isn't playing at another level.  And to my knowledge UPS hasn't played UMHB, Central or St Johns.

Actually I have a lot of respect for both Linfield and Williamette.   Our games against them were some of the best ones we had.   The Linfield/WARHAWK matchup is a classic.

What the hell is wrong with you, retagent?  ???
Trust me if I want to belittle anyone it will be considerably more obvious.
