The NCAA only mandates minimum ticket prices for NCAA Tournament events.  Schools are free to charge whatever price they want as long as they don't go lower than the minimum.

This is correct.

When they are having trouble drawing students, why do you suppose they would charge higher than the minimum to students who are used to getting free admission with a valid student ID? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I don't know Bobo. Seems like student demand for tickets is pretty inelastic. Seems like at a school with 10,000 students that you could get at least 1,000 to come to every game. But it doesn't happen even with free tickets. You could probably pay them $5 each and still not get a significant increase in attendance.  In the playoffs it is even worse. The first couple of games usually draw poorly. Next week will have the worst student attendance because of Thanksgiving.

Maybe there is an over supply of seating. If you had a stadium with only 5,000 seats then there might be some urgency in buying tickets. UWW has one of the best products to offer in DIII football. Just not sure how to increase the demand for the product. Maybe the Warhawks will always not be "big time" enough for students that prefer to stay home and watch the Badgers on TV.  However, as an alumni I love the "small time" nature of DIII football. Just guys that like to play football.

Badgers on TV? Now that sounds like a real waste of time to me! ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

That's a venue by venue minimum determined by capacity isn't it. I seem to recall $10 for sectionals when Lawrence hosted in basketball a few years ago.

Then that is what Lawrence elected to charge you.

I believe students are in still school now..so there should be a decent size crowd there tomorrow. Plus the weather looks like it'll cooperate (50's and sunny) However, starting next weekend the crowds should really diminish with thanksgiving and x-mas winter break.

I agree it's a shame, it's only $10 to watch the most successful college football team in the state of Wisconsin......

Go 'Hawks!!

BoBo

See where Warhawk first game 2009 opponent Dickinson State is in the NAIA playoffs this weekend, playing at NAIA #2 Carroll (MT). DSU finished #17 in NAIA.  They also had 12 on their all-conference first team. Their coach was also named COY. Midland Lutheran lost 3 of their last 4 games to finish 6-5.

I shudder to think what student attendance will be starting next year when a team you beat 52-0 on their field comes to Perk.  I would think the conference powers-that-be took that into consideration.

The records I cited were in response only to the remark about Lakeland being 6 - 4. The history comment was in reference to consecutive seasons without a losing record. 70% is a fine record. You know I would never intentionally take a shot at UWW ;D

To expand on the High School Championship, it was close for about 1 1/2 quarters. Bigfoot has (had) a fine running back, Michael Walker who had about 255 yards on the ground, another 55 or so in receiving yards and scored 5 TD's. Don't know if he's D I worthy, but will play somewhere in college, maybe at DB. Good crowd for two relatively small towns and schools.

I'll do the best option...be at the Perk and listen to Tom and Gary call the game! That is, if I can hear them over that incredibly loud rap music that is blasted  >:(
