Payback time for IWU beating the Warhawks in basketball in the playoffs  ;)...seriously, IWU travels very well for basketball, do they travel that well for football?

The Muskies had a pretty decent crowd today - from what I could tell from the video.

Wonder if Jack Sikma will be in the Perk(dome) next week? Do you think a guy like that still follows the alma mater?

The pickem standings and next week schedule will be ready by the time you all get up for breakfast on Monday am.  I have a few things, church and what have you, to do for the rest of the day.  I'll get to it later.

EDIT: Nearly forgot,  Warhawk Jeff Schebler, a senior and three time All-American and 2009 Fred Mitchell Award finalist, became the all-time kick scoring leader in NCAA football --- any division --- with his ten points today.  Schebler has accumulated 437 points at UW-W.  With the UW-W, WIAC and Division III records already in hand, Schebler passed Art Carmody (Louisville, 2004-2007) as the leading kick scorer in NCAA history.  Great career.

They may be a, "basketball school,"  but they were a football school in the early 2000's.  They had an unfortunate situation in 2005 with a player dying at practice from heat stroke and it took an understandable toll on everyone involved. They had a few tough years after that but they have shown this year that they are back and can play some ball.  Any team that has a 9-1 record in the CCIW, (D3 ranked it 4th stongest conference this year,) is a team not to be overlooked.  Will they challenge the Warhawks?  Probably not for 4 quarters but make no mistake, this is not a cupcake we are meeting this round.

Is there room on the Warhawk Bandwagon for one more? :-\

Whether they are a bonified threat to the Warhawks 5th run to Salem I don't know.....I assume they are an excellent team considering their record and conference. I will say after attending CCIW games for the last four years that Illinois Wesleyan is a basketball school.....In no way do I suggest they will be overlooked.....my family lived that experience for 5 years at UWW and never took a playoff game for granted......Pound the Rock boys and beat the basketball school......

Yes...Great career......so far  ;). Still lots of football to play, hopefully....

Lakeland did have a good size crowd. I saw a lot of blue and yellow while tailgating in the perking lot. They had little to cheer about, except for the first half of the first quarter when they put together a TD drive to tie the game up.

Other than that, it was what everyone expected. Backups started coming in at the second quarter and played thoughout the second half, receiving some valuable game-time experience.

I have a fealing UWW's starters will have to play a little longer next week against IWU... :P. IWU is having a great season.

As a Titan alum, I will readily acknowledge that IWU has always been a basketball school (the CCIW is even higher ranked in bball than fball, yet IWU has more conference titles than the next two schools combined).  But we like to think we can play BOTH sports pretty well. ;)

The 2005 death was totally devastating; though we did tie for the title in 2007, IMO we were only the third best team (the Wheaton team we beat in the last game probably would have won by 3 TDs if even half-way healthy).  This is the first year I felt like we were really back.  We have SO many senior starters, that there is kind of a 'now or never' attitude; which could make them dangerous.

We all know we are heavy underdogs, but you won't see fear.  The Titans may lose (heck, will probably lose), but they won't be one of those teams that has already lost before the coin toss.

First post! But I've been lurking here since 2006 when I began attending UWW. Now it's my Senior year and boy what a great 4 years its been to sit in the stands! :)

Notes from the Lakeland game: As has already been said they had a good fanbase and we were almost surrounded by some of them tailgating. They were really loud too and rather obnoxious cheering for getting a few yards and a first down like they won the game. By the second quarter they were out of it though.

Thoughts on IWU: It should be like the other WIAC games imo. They'll play us hard but I don't think they'll put up too much of a fight in the end. Prediction: 42-14.

Not much to say about that one 70-7.  Hope the Lakeland LB is ok with that bad leg break. Who do we play next? Can't see the score page...this site is really slow today.

warhawk78 - I'm in Seoul.

Illinois Wesleyan

Great BP, we do pretty well against Titans!!  ;) :D ;D

BTW, good showing in the OAC pickem - looks like a couple of Whitewater guys are positioned for a good playoff season (you know I did co-win the regular season OAC pickem last year - but who remembers that?  :o  ::))

Yep, if UWW wins the Stagg and we go 1,2 in the OAC pick em, it will be a GREAT year! But then again, if just the first happens, it will be a GREAT year!  :D

+k...welcome to the board. As far as their fans cheering for a few yards, I think everyone knew going into this game how the game would turn out.. They were probably looking for something to cheer for against the goliath that is UWW. I don't blame them for that, they got in the playoffs by the skin of their teeth so anything positive that happen against us made their day for them..I don't think they were that bad. there have been worse fans then Lakeland's over the past few seasons in the perking lot.  ;D

Who can pick out the oops in this article by the Journal Times? :-\

I'm not sure that winning in 2007(?) still qualifies UWW as 'defending champion'! ;D

Being the Journal Times, I quit reading at that (blessedly early) point! :D
