Trony cover someone please because Linfield just put a huge target on your jersey.

Linfield - YES please throw at the target on No. 7's back!!!  Despite the back-to-back miscues in 1st half vs Wittenberg, Troney has played with all-american numbers this season.  Far and away led the WIAC in pass break-ups this season and is among the top tackling cornerbacks in the country.  I HOPE Linfield challenges Toney all day long.

GO HAWKS!
I'm assuming that our QB will be throwing at the targets on our own players...if we start throwing at targets on WW guys then we'll be in big, big trouble....  ;)  RUmor is that we're changing our entire offense for this game--look for our big TEs to be inserted into the wishbone offense that the Cats have been working on all season :)
Go Cats!

Wildcat'64

I think we might as well stay home since Stealth has pronounced that the Cats are wasting their time coming to Whitewater.  Might as well stay at the Catdome and study for finals.  Too bad Stealth didn't visit the Catdome the last time these two teams met and see a great ball game....in my opinion, you may have the same type of competitive event next Saturday (but perhaps with a different result).

MONROVIA CAT,

Dang it, the CAT is out-of-the bag! I saw them at practice the other day running the Single Wing!  :)

Two great programs one great day/ Thank God for DIII football.

Lost in things I love most: the Universe, a good woman, and LINFIELD FOOTBALL

D O.C.

UWW is a cousin from the West and they know what to expect. They know Wittenburg was just the first of 3 season trophy taking games. They will not be falling for looking past any team to MUC. And they are not going to be sucked into having to defend the 10,000 population state school debate once again. Besides, players and coaches only read this site, not participate.

I find it amazing that I went to the same game as many with purple goggles, and I saw vulnerability, where they saw only greatness. I'm thinking Linfield 28 - UWW 24.

If the Wittenberg QB doesn't have to leave, it could have been even closer. What impressed me most about UWW was their composure when threatened. They have been winning most games this year "easily", and they could have gotten rattled by Witt's ability to move the ball, and make them work for every yard. They came through like Champions, and this may work against my prediction, but Linfield's ability to handle the Tommies causes me to lean their way.

I watched both games yesterday. The main thing I saw was Linfield's defnese not playing that great, especially against the run. Coppage and Anderson should be able to gash them for some big runs allowing us to do a lot of play action passes.

If the last two games show Linfield should be able to pass against us rather easily with lots of quick slants. Hopefully the Hawks will finally be able to counter that. On the plus side though we made IWU and Witt work hard for every yard they got. Not much YAC. What always impresses me about UWW is their ability to make big adjustments at halftime, especially this year. If the game is close they change with it and almost fully make their opponants one dimensional with passing and are then able to take over the game.

Stealth....  I like your confidence in your team.

I watched the UWW game and am confident your boys will know they were in a game  after playing us.  The best thing about it... we're the underdogs and I LOVE that!

Oh, and if you wanna give me 24 points ... PM me and we can come up with some sort of gentelman's wager ;)

Nice Witt-UWW story by the Milw JS in today's sports.  Bunch of pics, too.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Regarding the running attack against Linfield, i'm looking at what Quincy Daniels (UMHB) did two weeks ago at the "Catdome." He averaged over 5 yards per carry and finished the day with 117 yards rushing, probably could of gotten more but they were playing from behind so they were forced to pass more often than what they where comfortable with. He and Coppage are very similar runners, quick and illusive. Coppage may be a little bit better with a stronger offensive line. This will setup the play-action pass for the WIAC player of the year. Hopefully whitewater can pound the rock as usual, win the time of possesion, wear out Linfield's D.....which is what whitewater excelled at all season long.

I give a lot of credit to Linfield for a great job defending the pass against UMHB, with four interceptions. Throwing the ball is definitely UMHB's achilles heel. they rank 200th  :o in nation in passing, while Whitewater ranks 43rd. Donovan won't be as careless as UMHB was when stepping back in the pocket. He is the third most efficient QB in the country, only throwing 5 picks all year.

On the defensive side, UWW's rush defense is very strong like UMHB's. Linfield was just able to average 1.7 yards per carry that game....I see whitewater's rushing D putting up similar numbers this up coming weekend. Forcing them to be one dimensional by throwing the ball...which Whitewater will have to stop in order to win. They showed a little volnurability this past saturday...hopefully Borland can gets his boys to adjust.

Looking forward to a great game....sorry i'm going to have to miss it  :'(. Go 'Hawks

CAT BAT 22

I watched the UWW game and I observed something...

They were very good against the Extra Point... hopefully they will have plenty of opportunities to defend the XP this Saturday.

I think this is one reasonable interpretation of what was seen at the Perk on Saturday. I don't completely agree with it, but I don't find it a "slam" or an "out of the ballpark opinion." I will be reflecting on my interpretation within the next day or so.

For now, here is a UWW-Wittenberg game writeup from Saturday:

I find myself agreeing with 02's  analysis. The one disagreement I may have is the he doesn't just  have a stronger Offensive line, I would say he has a MUCH stronger Offensive line. They were pushing the Witt defensive line about 3 or 4 yards downfield on just about every running play. I'm reaching my senile years, and I think I could have gotten about 60 yards rushing if I had made it to the back of my "O" line every play, and nothing else.

Of all the things to observe in this game, you picked up an interesting one CAT BAT. You've actually identified something that might be an edge for the CATS. Experience in defending the extra point. Considering the Cats gave up 38 TD's so far this year as compared to 15 by UWW, the CATS must be REALLY used to lining up in that defensive "block that kick" formation!  ;)

This catch by Brandes was incredible.  The pass had interception written all over it but Brandes just lept over the top and snagged it.
