A win is a win...but a lot of things to work on for next week.

It was a game of big plays...Whitewater happened to have more of them.

Best game I have seen in my 4.5 years at WW... I just wish the administration would change graduation so I can go to the game...

Gig Harbor Cat

Congratulations to UWW--Best of luck in Salem

Congratulations, Warhawks, on the win. That was a heck of a game. You guys have so many weapons on both sides of the ball. Coppage is a load, and dangerous.

Good luck next week. Bring the walnut and bronze back to the West!
Two words:  THE STREAK

Lever Street

Congrats to UWW.  You have a great team.  A tough game for Linfield to lose.  But the competition was great.  Thanks Warhawks.

Go CATS Go!
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

Wildcat'64

Congratulations Warhawks.  Bring the championship back to the West.  Best of luck against MU.  You proved today, once again the West is the toughest region in the nation.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

No offense UWW, but I now hold you with the same regard as the Yankees.....I am a  Red Sox fan!

Good luck next week though! I'd rather see you win than MU!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Harken back to my earlier post. Trony can't cover a football with a blanket. Getting burned all over the place. Credit to the Cats for thier D and pass game so far.

Warhawks are not doing what got them here...the look really out of it.

To be fair about Troney, even pro bowl corners in the NFL occasionally get burned. I gotta give Boehme and his receivers credit for finding the space in that zone coverage. Last week he was toast in the single coverage a couple of times, but came back to make some huge stops on some running plays and the INT. The whole backfield today needs to take responsibilty for playing, at times, poorly. They didn't play very well together. But the quality of the Linfield skill players at WR and Boehme given just enough time to throw allowed them to move the ball. But, the third down throws for first downs were something we haven't seen all year. We never faced a QB like this also, except maybe in the first half last week.

The other thing, Pat Coleman mentioned in the triple take was that the one weakness he saw in the Warhawks was that they haven't had a close game, so it was not known how they would react in that kind of situation. Being behind starting the fourth and scoring the final 17 points, I think they answered the bell on that one very well...calmly, and with a lot of poise. The D stepped up at the right time. The way Linfield's D was stopping UWW, attempting the fake punt at mid-field was a big gamble that backfired for Linfield. They had the wind at their backs and with a good punt could have pinned the warhawks deep in their own end of the field. But, it didn't happen.  The fact that the cats held the warhawks to a 3 and out made it all the worse.  Warhawks get 10 points off 3 turnovers, win by 10...there's your ball game. Linfield got here by creating turnovers and scoring opportunities for their D - got none today, when you live by the sword, you die by the sword - it happened today.

EDIT: Almost forgot ; Brandes - big time receptions today; got the hawks out of some big jams - and Wells too.  Donovan 16.2 yards per completion is hard to beat.

my take is that WW seemed to give up on the run early or at least they passed more then they had to...sure they were stuffing the run but we can't give it up so quick when its our bread and butter...

donovan missed a few WIDE open WR's...he's gotta take advantage of those in Salem as they may be hard to come by...

WTF is up with our punter...this same crap happened last year too where we would stall around midfield and instead of just a nice short kick with a ton of hang time they are kicking them into the endzone with regularity...how many touchbacks did we have today...that could cost us as well in a game of field position...

my biggest gripe though is just the lack of red zone efficiency...I predicted a 42-14 game...I was off according to the final score...but if WW actually converts in the redzone on just a few of the lost possessions they had there this game wouldn't have been in question in the 4th quarter...

again...I know linfield being a great team will do that to the hawks but it is just frustrating to see GREAT opportunities slip away in those situations...hopefully lance gets the boys back and focused for the Stagg...

btw...the last time WW had a close semi final game they ended up winning it all...maybe history is repeating itself???

Wow.  UWW comes out looking real good, then Linfield grabs control in the middle of the game.  But in the home stretch the Hawks got it done.  Great game.  (just a little nerve-jangling ....)

Way to go, fellas.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Watched the game in Milwaukee at a bar on my laptop. Ordered crow for dinner after, but they didn't have any on the menu. NICE GAME LINFIELD.

Note to O coord Z.....run the damn ball.....you almost gave this game away.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I haven't watched WW this year so I can only comment no todays game but aside from Coppage's two big runs (one at the end of the game) he was stuffed very well (I think you take away those two runs and he had like 10 yds total the rest of his carries).  The passing game was working pretty well for the Warhawks which is really what won the game for them--your QB played a smart game---didn't put it up for grabs and when he did make some questional throws they were well out of reach of anybody.  I think the CAT D played tough which is why WW 'appeared' off their game.  What a contest.  Hope to rematch again next season! Good Luck against Mt. Hope their QB is back next week so it's a "true matchup".
Go Cats!

CAT BAT 22

I was impressed with WW Defense... specifically the D-line (captain obvious here) but not just the way they stuffed the middle but the way they stopped the screens that could have gone for long gains.  The WW DB's were tough, even though they seemed to be getting torched ... they really weren't... a lot of that was in zone coverage.

The DB's came hard on run support and i LOVE that.  It's hard to get a DB that does both (can cover and can show up with bad intentions on run support) but you seemingly have 4 of them.

Good game that could have gone either way.  The late TD made it seem more one sided than it was.  Good luck next week, I like your chances even with Mounts starting QB in the game.

BUMP

The D did an amazing job vs. the CATS screens.   Several times there was one guy who managed to do enough disruption to blow up the play which otherwise would have gone for big yds.  Very well Coached Defense.
Go Cats!
