I don't think the NCAA assigns officials from the conference of either team during the playoffs.  At any rate none of these officials worked the WARHAWK/Willamette game last year.

A quick check of the officials in the NWC games indicates that this is not a crew that works together during the regular season but rather members of multiple crews selected for this specific game.  So to say an "all-star" crew.  I don't have a big problem with that and I  understand the logic of that process.  But I'd prefer that they select a crew that has worked together during the regular season and has some familiarity with one another.

Agreed. Although, no matter what there's going to be at least a few people bitchin' about the refs after the game!

Surprisingly, the OAC officials working the UWW/Linfield game got very little, to nothing, said about their performance...that has to be a good sign!!...even the head refs microphone worked throughout the game.   ;)  :D  ;D

The weather for Saturday in Salem is now predicted to be in the mid thirties with a fifty percent chance of rain/snow...very similar to the 2007 game weather. I wouldn't mind 60 and sunny but if the the crappy weather brings the 2007 mojo for the Hawks then I will gladly suffer through it!  ;D

Leaving for Salem and the Stagg Bowl Festivities tomorrow!!  Bringing brownies for both teams as per usual.  Looking forward to seeing you guys at the Gagliardi banquet and at the luncheon and naturally from the 50 yard line on Saturday!!!  I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!  The rest of Stone Station is pulling in on Friday and we are going to have a great tail-gate before, during half-time and after the game!!  My favorite time of year!!!
Now, stealth, you know I wouldn't do that.  You know and they know that I cheer for you guys.  But I treat the players the same with the brownies.  Each team gets exactly the same amount, exactly the same kinds.  Both teams are worth of the honor of being at the National Championship game and should have all the kudos that come with it.  My task is to make the brownies for them, whatever happens in the game.  In fact, I arrived today so that I can enjoy the Gagaliardi trophy banquet and the teams luncheon as well.  To me it's one of the greatest weeks in the year and I plan on enjoying every minute.  I hope to see both teams, both sets of coaches to wish them well.  However, I will wear BC colors (maroon and gold (Stone Station)) and cheer for WW.  And afterward I will be happy for whoever wins.  My team wasn't good enough to make it. Another of my teams lost to WW and a newer one of my teams lost to MUC, so I'm excited to come and see the GREATEST DANCE IN D3 football.  Come by Saturday am and tailgate with us!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

QB or not, WW ten point favorite. MU is on the way down.

Really enjoying the blog, BP.  Your research and writing style are both enjoyable and impressive.

Weather is now looking like it will be a snow bowl in Salem.

Good?  Bad?  What does everybody think it could mean (if anything)?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

The game, I mean.  Not the tailgate (though that will no doubt be important, too!).  ;D

I HATE this idea that UWW is favored!  It doesn't feel right especially in light of the fact that we have only beaten them one out of the last four meetings and the year we did.............was the year that the Raiders were considered by many to be, "the best MUC team ever," and we weren't suppose to have a shot at winning.  Sound familiar?   ;)

OMG, this is quite the forecast.  8-12 inches Friday night, 3-6 more on Saturday!  Will make it very hard for fans to travel and tailgate!   Don't know about the Raiders but I do like our experience and record playing in the white stuff.  Against Welsey and Wabash, we still had success throwing the ball  ;)

Good - those at home watching from the comfort of their favorite recliner eating brunch

Bad - those in Salem Stadium having to sit in a foot of newly fallen snow for 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

Given the options, I'd much rather be in Salem!  ;)

Sounds like the City of Salem is going to have a long night and next morning getting the field playable.

Is it too late to move it to the Perk?  Those guys are masters at it!  ;D

And let's not forget the tailgating time.  Any fan worth his salt will have been out in it for more like 5-6 hours when it is all said and done.   ;D

Yeah - even with snow, I wish I was there, too.  Saw 11 out of 14 games this year, and wishing for more .....

I'm leaning towards GOOD for Whitewater, bad for MUC. Sounds like MUC has had their share of struggles running the ball. They burn most of their opponents throwing the ball down field. If the weather doesn't cooperate, hopefully the snow/sleet will slow down their passing game...especially if Rocco doesn't go and there's an inexperience QB taking the snaps.

It shouldn't affect Whitewater as much, due to their balanced offensive they bring to the party.
