Are there any highlights of the UW-W victory celebration online?
This shows a little of it....http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/79778187.html

The championship is a big deal for the little town of 13,000...they didn't just win, they dominated...funny things said by the reporter and anchor...anyway, on to more important things like:

WHEN DOES THE DVD COME OUT?  ;)  ;D  :D
I'VE REACHED THAT AGE

WHAT HAPPENS."

I think the WIAC is more in the mold of D2. They are all state subsidized schools..... and all have pretty huge enrollments. I think the average enrollment across the board in the WIAC is around 7500 or more. Most of the teams in D3 have around 1500 students and tuition is around $30M because they are mostly private schools. Whereas in the WIAC it's around $7M per year and they are all state funded/subsidized. I really don't understand it. Maybe somebody could fill me in as to why they like to compete with the private smaller schools. Why don't they pick on somebody their own size?

OK...bring on the Heat  :D

D-II and D-III don't have molds, though, you see, they're just figments of your imagination. D-III isn't about a look, it's about a philosophy.

Once upon a time the NWC and WIAC (and ASC) had something more in common with each other than with the rest of Division III, redshirting. But that wasn't in keeping with the philosophy of the rest of the division, which is why redshirting was eliminated.

It isn't about looks; it's about actions. So a school doesn't fit your stereotype? That's not what makes a school Division III. Does Rice look like Penn State? Does Menlo look like NYU? Does Western Oregon look like Kentucky Wesleyan? No. But they play by the same rules.

Thank you Raider68. I appreciate it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too!

My first Stagg Bowl reflection is posted. It focuses on a key seven play sequence that went a long way in winning the Championship for UW-W.

We have a D2 school here in Oregon called Western Oregon University which has a graduate named Kevin Boss. From what I've seen WOU would bascially kick any of the  WIAC's schools $ss year in and year out....so maybe I'm wrong....maybe they wouldn't be any good in D2.

OK...bring on the Heat

No heat needed. This post is surprisingly whiney from a fan of a program as strong and proud as Linfield.

Maybe we could set up a division of:
UWW
Mount Union
Wesley
UMHB
St. Thomas
Central College
Willamette
Wittenberg
Illinois Wesleyan
Coe
North Central
Wabash
Ohio Northern
Capital
Johns Hopkins
St. John's
The other WIAC teams
Any other team that WANTS to be part of this division

And then we can just add any team that happens to give the Wildcats trouble each year.  ;D
Then linfield can play the rest and every year can be like 04!  ;D

"why don't they pick on somebody their own size." Geesh Bluenote. You know better than that. It's not like the teams are picked by a campus wide tryout each year. The teams are recruited. The programs are built through leadership and hard work.  The number of kids who go to the school that aren't playing football is irrelevant to the discussion. if I'm not mistaken the roster size for the playoffs is 52. So truthfully, when UWW beat Linfield, they DID pick on somebody their own size.  ;D

Well...I have been known to have figments of imagination.
I thought what we both had in common was NAIA?
I think I see how state subsidized enrollment action brings up the enrollment to well over 10M on average per state school in WI. That's a good thing in my book....maybe other schools should be as well funded by all the taxpayers as well then to lower their tuition costs.  ;)

I guess that explains why (small/private) Mt. Union has 10 national titles.  And why (small/private) Augustana is still the only school with four consecutive national titles.

And state support is these days so lavish that WIAC schools may have to play each other twice due to travel restrictions.  (And why some Michigan public schools are investigating going private.)

I think MUC should go to 1-AA and go against teams like Montana if they're so great.....   ;D

Senior Y....

The Blue guy and I are only reviving a 7-8 year old argument here, we know.

Mount Union College University is an anomaly - or rather, a football school. We all know their basketball teams suck - though they could probably beat us.

Don't look now but the populous state school won football this year, (we know the run on MUC the previous 4 years), and in the last year 9th in track & field, & 3rd in gymnastics.

The big people's conference? http://www.wiacsports.com/ncaateam/index.html

47 National Championships since 2000!  Seven different schools! Hell! LaCrosses's Men's Track and Field is beginning to rival MUC football run.

Let's take a gander at why this conference does so well.....
