Quarterback seems to be a popular position for transfers.  Danny Jones followed by Matt Blancard and Rump, who came and went.  This year it's Fry and now Woelfel

You mean Morris - Woelfel was the writer of the article.  Morris is an amazing athlete who could contribute in several ways besides QB.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Wouldn't be surprised if we see him at WR for the 2010 season. Lance may have that in mind already when he asked him if he's willing to play another position.

Or he can be our running QB kind of like Greg Michelli.......... He was the offensive player of the year for Wisconsin on a spread team that lost early in the playoffs. If things happen the way they're appearing going into the fall, it should make for an interesting season next year.

I thought Blanchard was our running QB or at least our double threat QB? He seems more the Danny Jones type than the Jeff Donovan type. Do we have a Jeff Donovan pocket passer type on the roster?

Not that I've seen that much of Steve McCollum but what I have seen leads me to believe he is probably more of a pocket  passer than running quarterback.  Also when I saw Frye play in high school he was more of a pocket guy.

We may as well get use to the idea that it could be a while before we have another Jeff Donovan.  In my opinion he is the best quarterback we've had in the 40+ years I've followed the team.  But I would love for one of the current guys on the roster to prove me wrong.

I guess the main thing that I hope for is that the QB can take advantage of the strong receiving core the Hawks still have on the team (Brandes, Rusch).  My initial thought is that if Blanchard is the QB the team may favor the run a little more than this year. Also with the run oriented background of Dinkel. Who will be the QB coach? Leipold?

Sounds like both UWW and Mount Union have questions regarding the QB position next year. The Raiders have a sophmore  returning who had playing time behind Rocco, but the word is that there some others coming that could make for some real competion. ALso Cecil Shorts is returning :)!

Darn, I was hoping Shorts would go for the NFL now that a certain receiver from Mount is so famous  ;)

Word is the C. Shorts has one more year of eligibility remaining due to an injury in his freshman year. Most people here including me are surpirzed that he will not move on, given that he would get a look from the NFL. Others believe that he has received some input already to play another year in college to improve his strength and skills.

Maybe Shorts would improve his stock if he moved on to Ohio State for his final year. I believe he already owns DIII. Nothing to prove here  :)

Shorts posted on FaceBook (in January) that he was playing again next year.  He would have to sit out a year if he transferred to a higher division.  You can transfer "down" without sitting, but not up.

I was under the assumption that he felt like he had some unfinished business to complete in Salem...

He also is 1 semester away from his degree and a HS coach/teacher as a Dad to please.  Leaving MUC after this season was never a question.
