Received one of the two championship apparel items I ordered with a note saying the other one would be shipped in 7-14 days.

Grrrrrrrrrr, dont they know who they're messing with.  I'm BADGERWARHAWK for god's sake.

I has seen many posts about UWW fans waiting and not receiving championship gear. Unless you are ordering something much different than Mount has, the time delays are ridiculous. For past Mount championhship teams, the gear ( 90%) of  it at the bookstore, no later than Wednesday following the game. Special items do take longer, but the UWW fans patience
is beyond normal. Whatever part of UWW that is in charge of championship gear must have a different approach than the Mount people.

As far as Mount Union and its championship gear, I guess it's not surprising yours is available so fast. you guys probably start printing championship shirts and hats at the begininig of the each season!  ::)  :P   ;D

With that being said, it makes me woder......is some third-world country getting a shipment of 2009 Mount Union national champs t-shirts?  ;) just kidding mount union nation

I actually was thinking the same thing.  But I bet they just have the stuff pre-ordered, and if they win the Stagg on Saturday, they have the printers start working on Sunday.  Don't need to print near as much as a DI team winning, so they probably don't pre-print it.

The NCAA does probably ship stuff out though, because they have gear available immediately after the game.

I have heard that all the shirts for the losing teams are donated abroad.  Just think, in a 3rd world country somewhere, they, too, are bitching about a 5th go-around between UW-W and MUC!
"Geez, shirts from these guys again?"   ;) ;D

Actually what has happened is that all the gear is planned in advance and yes, they call it in after the game and it arrives the following Tuesday, Practice makes perfect! :)

Raider66:
Is it true that when Mount Union doesn't win the stagg bowl which doesn't happen often three times in the 2000's that they do not have a banquet or was that just a one time thing after they played St. Johns in 2003. I heard from alum who played in the nineties that it's a tradition that if they don't win it all the players feel like thay have let their alumni of the program who did win it down. Found it interesting that they have such a proud tradition that if they don't win it all they have nothing to celebrate.

In the last 17 years since the first title, the Raiders have lost 3 National Championship games, won 10 and have not celebrated their season quite the same after a loss. However, the have come back to win the title 2-3 of the following years with players who felt the did not finish the job. Take Cecil Shorts who would probably get a shot at the NFL, but is coming back for 2010. Yes, they take it seriously for those who did win it.

Correction. the Raiders won 1-2 titles following 2 losses of the title game.

Thanks Raidder 68: I heard that from a couple of former mount union people, but was not sure if it was true. Yes making the championship game is a greata ccomplishment. However second place well is the second loser, and No one should brag about finishing second no matter how good they played. Just my opnion.

The UWW alums and fans will begin to feel that finishing 2nd is no reason to celebrate either, now that they have won the title a few times. The problem with all that is managing expectations which will now always be very high!

Actually isn't second place the last loser?  Are silver medals meaningless hunks of metal an Olympian should be ashamed to wear in public?

Of course I'm proud of our national championship teams but truthfully I'm not overly embarassed by our runners up.

These are just my opinions.

The Olympian has to wait 4 years to go for gold, but the football players have only one year. I those chances better! :)

The olmpics are just a little bit different. Your competing against the WORLD. Raider66, I think it just becomes expected after a while to be at the stagg bowl every year especially if you have had a run like Mount Union has had. Managing expectations must be hard. However in meeting coach Kehres I do not see him as an arrogant coach who brags about winning the titles all the time. He is pretty down to earth and a nice guy.
Hopfully UWW can start a string like Mount Union has had. Where they walk through conference and then walk into the stagg bowl.
