Voice has posted the pre-season roster on Warhawkfootball.com.  Former Mt. Union player trying out, Johan Lorenzo. What's up with that Mount fans? Looks to be an "Anthony White" style speed rusher from this video.

Am I correct that Lorenzo's video are of him playing in JV and/or freshman games?

You're not the only one - same prob here.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

How many players are in camp for UWW?  How many do they usually have, last 5 years, and how many would they like to have vs. school/WIAC restrictions?  :-\

I'm not certain but I think the numbers this year are a bit higher than in the past.  We would probably carry more players if conference rules allowed it. However we also have to deal with Title IX.

There's 130 by my count -- but my old eyes sometimes have trouble counting.  I thought I read a story on warhawkfootball.com or madison.com (can't find it now that I need it) that there were actually less than usual, but LL thinks the overall quality is much better as they are getting more selective in their recruiting -- another story said 136 were expected to tryout. It goes w/o saying that the 30 or so who won't make the 100 man roster will be some very good football players. Use to be almost an entire Wisconsin roster with 1 or 2 from across the southern border, but now Illinois, Indiana, Michigan Minnesota, Iowa, and Florida are represented. Playing under the big lights certainly may have it's rewards. Even a Mount transfer - what's that all about Raider 68?

BTW, got the roster open the Barber Greene method - thanks buddy!!

Looks like CJ Miller is not playing this year. It was a pleasure to see him play in HS and at UWW. He went out a champ with some significant playing time last year. Looks like Lavell Hewlett will be the RB getting the carries in mop up time this year. Good luck to him.

I had seen Mr. Lorenzo in the SAC over the summer time.  He looks like a good specimen of an athlete.  We will soon find out this year.  He also had a younger brother who played WR I think with him that also transferred to WW.

The UWWroster number was 130 when camp started.  I may have been the one that put out the 136 number last weekend.  As far as WIAC preseason roster number down from previous years... there are a number of contributing reasons.  I think the two biggest is the WIAC mandated 100 player regular season roster limit and that banning of redshirting.  When LAX was winning championship after championship the Eagles were able to "stockpile" particularly in the lines.  With the roster limit and lack of redshirting the "game" has certainly changed.   While Mount Union, St. Johns et al continue to bring in 200 players or more - WIAC teams are now seldom above 150 reporting for preseason practice.
2010 reported numbers that I have found:  UWL 155, UWP 155,  UWW 130, UWSP 126

In response to a inquiry I put out on the Iowa page about one of the UWW kicker hopefuls, a freshman from West Des Moines, Iowa Bryan Blazek (thanks kohawk krazy):

QuoteHe was 66-of-69 on PAT's, the highest in Class 4A last year.  12-of-15 on Field Goals, long of 46.  90 Kickoffs, 55 were touchbacks.

I did notice on Kicking.com, he had made FG's of 53 and 51 in 2007.
