Anyone know if Whitewater plans on doing anything to recognize the 2009 team prior to the game next Saturday? i.e. hoist up another flag in the south endzone? If so I'll be sure to try to wrap up our tailgating a little early to watch it.

WIAC PREVIEW CAPSULE #7: UW-RIVER FALLS

www.uwwfootball.blogspot.com

I am open to requests! I could try to do a weekly AROUND THE WIAC feature with at least a couple of notables for each team regarding their last game, their next game, or general "status of the team" thoughts.  If that is something that would fill a general void for WIAC fans or would widen the scope of the participation on the WIAC board, it would be a worthwhile venture!

Perhaps I should use a different blog for the WIAC stuff so ya'll don't have to get that sinking feeling of watching UW-W come out of the locker room every time you go to get info on conference teams!  ;D

Video link to each WIAC game would be nice   ;D

That's already done on the WIAC football homepage and D3football.com scoreboard!!

I was half joking, b/c i know it's nearly impossible to get a live video feed of every WIAC game each week.

plus the D3 scoreboard is a good half-day behind schedule each week. I'm sure it's not easy keeping up with all the games.

Please consider this post an "open invitation" to participate in the OAC Pick-Em's contest.    Over the years there have been quite a few WIAC guys that often cross over into the OAC page, some of which have matched wits in the pick-ems.

We had 63 participants in our 2009 contest with about half of them from outside of the OAC page.  If anyone is interested, the spreads for Week 1 have been posted.

Please note however the season actually opens on Thursday, September 2nd so I'll need your picks by kick-off on Thursday.

THANKS

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Too bad he can't pick a WIAC game if his life depended on it.  :-[  :'(

The season can't start soon enough, Packers preseason football isn't doing it for me atm...  :)

I would suggest if you want more updated scores you let the schools know they should make use of our site.

I doubt we are ever a half-day behind but yes, some schools in the WIAC do not bother to report their scores to us. Each school has a login to post scores directly on our site, and they can choose to post in-game, final, or (as often in the case of the WIAC) not at all. If a score is not reported then it's up to me or our volunteers to track them down and post them.

Schools that use PrestoSports for their school sites get their information posted on our site as soon as it is on their site. We share the same database.

It takes about 45 seconds to log in and post a final score. If posting in-game scores on a regular basis, it takes even less time. But not every school has enough people in the press box to do that sort of thing, and I definitely understand.

I would say if there's more demand, we'll get some supply. Otherwise, yes, we are not the Associated Press or ESPN Bottom Line and we're not going to be because we don't have that kind of staff/money. :)

Like I said, I'm sure it's not easy keeping up with all the games. I think I especially watch the dIII scoreboard during playoff time....to see who advances and who doesn't. I would wish the schools would post those scores sooner rather than later for us on-lookers. Regular season on the other hand, it's not that pressing to know the scores every second of game.

anyone get to catch whitewater's scrimmage today? any improvements from last week?

Pat Coleman

Gotcha -- during the playoffs we definitely do not sit back and wait for the schools to post scores but we're also trying to do up to 16 games at once, so there are probably times we're behind. (Especially if we're broadcasting games ourselves.)

Good to know how that scoreboard "operates"...learn something everyday.

Thanks for all you do on the website Pat!!!  +K to you!!

Quick question, is there any plans for a D3football iphone app? I imagine they are pricy to make just know that there is a market for it.

Would be interested in seeing his take on what the problem areas were. I have not gotten to see any of the practices or the scrimmages.

Well, so we're in the middle of moving the entire site to PrestoSports, not just the scoreboard part. Presto has a mobile app that will work for us, but will take some customization. I don't have a timetable.
