La X is on the ETBU 39 with :54 remaining with 1 TO. ETBU just took their 2nd TO.
Indians Eagles trail 26-20.

Nick Anker throws INT at ETBU 2...La X goes down too.

The ETBU QB takes it 98 yards to the house on the first play after the INT. Final 33-20
He also had a 95 yard run in the 2nd, if I remember right. Each team needs work on run D -- both had 200 yard rushers.

LaCrosse turns the ball over (fumble, interception) on their last two possessions in ETBU territory and loses 33-20. LaCrosse with 5 turnovers in the game, ETBU 0.

Edit: Oops, that will teach me to wait for the final.

From the accounts I heard listening to the game and on the NWC update board, the roof caved in on Stevens Point. Leading 14-0 early, they fell flat and lost 33-14 to Williamette. In the process, their freshman QB Barnes from Homestead, by way of Northern Michigan injuried his ankle or leg in the fourth and never returned. Don't know how bad it was. That would be a big blow to the Pointers if he doesn't return next week.

So, Northern Michigan transfer QB had a 1 and 1 weekend.  ;)

I hope and pray Casey (Barnes) is all right.  He is a great kid. As much as I want UW-W to win the conference championship, I hate it when anyone gets hurt, especially a quality kid like Casey.

The Eagles looked flat and uninsipred in their 33-20 loss to ETBU. Nick Anker was not sharp at QB, and only Lee Lauters looked to be in good form on offense. It gets worse with a tougher opponent coming in next week, Could be a long year.

I must have seen all or parts of 15 games today on streaming video and Matt Blanchard was the best QB I saw. I hope he can keep it up when WW plays the better teams.

WIAC 3-5 this weekend. Ouch!

Ouch is right.  I hope this is not a sign of what's to come in the WIAC this season.   Appreciate all the observations about the game, I admit that with my birthday celebration, I was not as attentive to the game as I could have been.   ;)  Congrats to the DEFENSE for pitching a shutout, very impressive considering Coach B was not given film, and to the offense which appears to have loads of weapons.  The kicking game will have some growing pains but expected in light of the fact that we are replacing a 4X AA and trying to do it with freshmen.  Can't imagine the pressure that kid felt being center stage in his very first, ever college game.  Congrats to UW-Oshkosh and UW-River Falls on stellar performances.  Had a blast seeing some old friends and loved being back at the Perk again.   ;D

Happy Birthday footballfan413!!  :-*

Thanks, BoBo.  Being surrounded by all my wonderful family and dear old friends.......well, let's just say, a good time was had by all!   ;) :D ;D

BTW, I steered away from giving my opinion on the GREAT job that Matt Blanchard did because it might be considered biased by some considering the fact that I love the kid, all his family and the birthday cupcakes that his mother brought to the tailgate for me.   ;)

I heard one of uwec's top WR suffered an injury returning the ball on kick off or punt return - not sure which.  Possibly a serious injury.  (I assume my information is correct) I checked their two deep roster and saw they have their two top WR returning the ball on special teams.  Is that common?  Seems a lot of injuries occur on special teams, I was surprised to see that.

I think because it was simply an unknown there were some doubters but Matt answered their concerns yesterday.  What I liked best is that he played within himself (excuse the cliche).  He was patient, saw the field well and didn't try to do things that go away from his strengths.  He's only going to get better with more experience.  He was hit hard by two Adrian defenders in the end zone on his touchdown run and when the dust settled he was the one still standing in the same spot.

Adam Brandes had another incredible catch.  I never stop being amazed by some of the things he does.  He's just a really, really good athlete with hands like fly paper.  Put the ball within reach and he's going to catch it.  Some of his catches remind me of those Derek Stanley used to make.

Booker showed that he's still got game.  I think we'll see more of him as the weeks progress.   We've got three tight ends that could probably be starting for any other program in the league.  They're going to be a big part of both the running and passing offenses.

Happy birthday 413

The pass defense wasn't tested all that much.  Shane Covington is a little behind the learning curve because he came to camp late but he did get on the field and he's another player I think we're going to see more of as the season progresses.
