My other tactic is usually just to call it "The Wisconsin Conference."

I practiced saying "WHY-ac" today in a conversation with another conference's commissioner. :)

I voted Wee-Ac.  My own little Operation Chaos.

I think the teacher's union should be Weh-Ache.

And the Wisconsin branch of the International Association of Cheesemakers should be Why-Eck.

retagent

Last year he ran out of gun powder and wasn't able to get the real stuff in time so he had to buy something he called "gun powder wanna be" to use.  He had some left over and wanted to get rid of it so he was using it Saturday.

I would assume that he would be using smokeless powder, of which there should be no lack of supply. On the other hand, if he uses black powder, that requires a bit more care in handling, is a bit more volatile, and may be somewhat harder to obtain.

BoBo

retagent -- you're a former (old) Army ordnance  guy, right?  If so, I can't argue with you this time!!  ;)   ;)

The WIAC folks might be interested in how young the Raiders are this season.  A lot of sophomores in the starting lineup, especially on the D-line.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Ya, with the Mount's JV schedule, their youth isn't much of a concern for me. But the Tale of the tape, however...........
I highlighted some of the ones that stick out to me and could spell big trouble for the Titans.

TALE OF THE TAPE
TEAM STATISTICS MTU (2009) U WO
Record 14-1 0-1
Points per game 45.3                       28.0
First downs per game 24.4                  14
Total offense/game 501.8               295.0
Rushing yards/game 210.6         89.0 Got to be able to run to open up the pass
Passing yards/game 291.2               206.0
Points allowed/game 9.7                  34.0 Hope the Raiders can win with the 34 points they get spotted. ;)
First downs allowed/game 12.3          24.0
Total offense allowed/game 212.1     440.0   How many TD's does these 3 categories translate to for the Raiders?
Rushing yards allowed/game 53.3     183.0
Passing yards allowed/game 158.8    257.0

Kickoff return average 22.3                   26.8
Punt return average 11.4                     7.0
Fumbles-lost 27-16                               1-0
Penalties-yards 91-889                      4-35
Net yards per punt 32.8                     31.5
Time of possession/game 30:59            22:01
3rd down conversion (%) 77/169 (46%)     9/16 (56%)
4th down conversion (%) 15/33 (45%)       1/2 (50%)
Sacks by-yards 49-375                                 1-3
Sacks allowed-yards 19-86                         2-11
Turnover margin +16                                   -1

But, hey, that is why they play the game.  The best of luck to the Titans and their staff.  It is a huge challenge and they win already in my book for taking it on!

Though, only 2 freshman on your entire million man roster!!  ;)  (not including your million man freshman roster)

You could almost highlight that entire page fbf413 -- except net punting yards -- it all spells trouble for the Titans!!  ;D   ;)

I know but I didn't want to be rude, BoBo.   ;)  The Titans really did do themselves proud last weekend against Central IF it doesn't turn out that the Dutch were over rated this preseason and deserve some encouragement for the large task at hand  There is no history, (at least recently,) regarding match ups for the Raiders with any other WIAC team but us so whose to say that the strength of conference won't play a part in the final score.  I am hoping anyway. And let's not forget, the Titans are home!  ;)  ;D

La Crosse has I believe a 2-2 playoff history with the Raiders, including a win in Alliance, back in the early days of their run.

Ya, I wondered about that but didn't want to do the research.  I had actually edited my post to cover my a$$ saying, (at least recently,) just in case but you were too fast!  But 20 years ago doesn't count anyway!   ;)

Just got an email from one of my sisters, an Oshkosh grad. Seems she and her husband will be at Titan Stadium on Saturday. I hope to get a full scouting report on the Raiders & maybe the Titans, too. Unfortunately, her football IQ is somewhere between the IQ of a goldfish and a turkey, but my brother-in-law knows a thing or two -- played at UW-Milwaukee in the early 60's.

The highly anticipated arrival of DE Tyler Weshphal for the Titan defense appears to have gotten off to a slow start -- 0 tackles, 1 pass break up.  I have to think, common wisdom was expecting more than that from the former highly touted D1 transfer.  :-\

so did a buddy of mine regarding Booker Stanley. Prior to saturday's game, all i heard is how Booker is going to break a long one for TD and how he's going to dominate DIII. I on the other hand had my doubts...

I had a tough time trying to convince him that Stanley was third on UWW's depth chart, and also I don't see how Lance is going to sit an All-American RB, and start a former DI player who's been out of the sport for 4 years. I'm not doubting Booker's talent, but looking back at what Coppage did last year....how can one possibly consider taking the ball out of his hands? lets just hope he keeps his fumbles under control  ;)

In response to 02 Warhawk...I think Booker will add great power and size to this position.  At 215lb vs Coppage at 180lb, he brings even more depth to this position.  If Anderson or Coppage ever go down during a game, having a guy like Booker to split plays will be nice.  Although, having a guy like Booker will "water down" Coppage and Anderson's stats this season....it will still keep our focus to "pound the rock" this year as Blanchard continues to develop and improve as we move through the season.

All in all, I will always be a big fan of Levell.  Last years 2107 rushing / 2249 all purpose yards / 35 TD's are impressive numbers!!!  Go Warhawks! ;D
