An example of class:  according to one of the Falcon assistant coaches, several Oshkosh football players came over to John O'Grady after their 42-15 win last Saturday and, knowing of his retirement plans at the end of the season, told him they had enjoyed playing against his teams over the past few years. O'Grady was almost overcome by emotion as a result of their comments, the assistant said.

Part of what makes D3 football special is the kind of kids it draws.  That's the kind of story that makes it easy to love the WIAC and D3! Way to go Titans!

I love this statement. Here is a video clip from Yahoo of a great interception.

Just was reading the post from a few weeks back and decided to join the conversation.   I was wondering how many paid coaches each progam has, and if there is a direct correlation between that and there success.  One has to think the more paid coaches the better the recruiting will be.  I am a fan of UWRf and think they really only have three paid coaches.  just wondering if anyone knew how many the others schools have.

I dont' have the answer, but I think there's really three categories here:

1. Full-time athletic department staff
2. Coaches paid a stipend
3. Volunteer coaches

That is awesome! Coach C not only helps develop football players during their college careers but he also develops character. For example, while I played for him upper classman took part in some leadership training. This past summer (July 29, 2010) some UWO coaching staff and players assisted WWII veterans as they prepared for the Old Glory Honor Flight to D.C.

Pretty cool stuff.

Best of luck to Coach O'Grady as he finishes his last coaching season of his career!

I knew the Hawks should be able to run the ball against the Pioneers given the size difference on the lines. The Hawks appeared to be much bigger.  Now Platteville did have success in the first half finding zones in the Hawk secondary. Plus the fact that the Hawk DBs seemed to have a problem turning around and finding the ball.

After going up 7-0 the Pioneer student section started the "overrated" chant. Hawk fans looked at one another and said, "little early for that".

Looking at the box, I am really surprised at Blanchard's numbers. Very nice game for him. David Leaf did not play.

Coppage had a nice game but appeared to be hurt for most of the game. He did a lot of stretching and got a lot of trainer attention on the sideline. Appeared to be a front quad issue, not a hamstring.

David Leaf was reported injuried on the radio broadcast. They thought that might leave the Warhawks a little thin at WR. The results didn't indicate that. Blanchard only missed on 6 of 30 throws.

I hope Stephen Guelff is recovering from his injury and is able to return to the field...and really soon. It's quite obvious that kicking job is still available!! Special teams need a BIG boost.  :-X

After the Hawks went up 49-10 the Platteville coach gathered all of the players on the field and appeared to give the play for pride and not roll over speech. Not sure if that was noted on the radio broadcast.
