* Every Whitewater opponent this season has won their following game...and by a healthy margin. I expect Stout to do the same (maybe not the healthy part, but they will win), whether it's played using bp's (fake) schedule or BDB's (authentic) schedule!!  ;)

* excluding Dakota State University - their next win might have to wait until the '11 season.

Wow, tough crowd. OK OK OK the game is at STOUT!!

Bobo, I know UW-W is the center of the universe and everything, but do you really think that playing UW-W helps a team the next week? What do you make of that? Does UW-W's goodness rub off on them or what??  ???

I left as soon as I posted the invite to retagent so didn't see this until this morning.  Of course you were welcome to stop by and I wish you had.   Homecoming?  We set up on the parkway in front of the stadium and are easy to find.  I am the one wearing Levell Coppage's number.   ;) ;D

I'll try to make it for homecoming. Big Levell fan, huh?  ;D

Maybe UW-W should establish our own tradition of the "anti-retired" number. We only give 33 to potential all time greats!
 ;D
LOL.  I like it!
As a matter of fact, I am a BIG Levell fan even if he does play on the wrong side of the ball!    ;) :D ;D   A very worthy recipient of my favorite number!  Relieved to see him run so well the 2nd quarter.  Man, he is quick!  Hope we can get our trio back to full strength.  Still a lot of football left to play.

Absolutely, we need the horses!! Although my suspicion is that as long as the REALLY BIG horses up front stay healthy we will be just fine. Just lose some of the holding penalties and the UW-W O-Line has to be among the most dominant in the country.

BoBo, it was Brekke at quarterback.  He was also the backup to replace Blanchard in the Platteville game though the stats crew incorrectly identified him as Wilson.  Wilson is a defensive back.  This happened one other time earlier this season when Antwan Anderson was incorrectly identified as Chris Treptow.  Both players wear #24.

I might have to agree...I was ecstatic to see such a huge turn out for the game, but I guess it was kind of quiet now that you mentioned it. After tailgating from 9:00 am till kickoff, i was anything but quiet. I screamed every first down, catch, big run, etc......infact between drinking, screaming and having a cold...my voice is still lost since saturday night (and it's now monday morning). We walked in to the game just before kickoff, and our group of 7 had to be split up and seated in three different sections, it was tough finding room to sit.

I'd like to thank my dad for making some epic smoked ribs, and my brother for some great chili.....it was a great day all around.

Go 'Hawks....Coppage for president   8-)

I was thinking it's only a coincidence, but just to be sure, I'm going to have to convene a séance and attempt to communicate with the spirit of Carl Sagan or maybe Copernicus to see if they think if UW-W is really the center of the universe?  ;)  Pending a positve result, I'll consider the other questions. But, it'll  have to wait to tomorrow, since I have to read my daughter a bedtime story.  :D

A fiend asked me earlier in the season if it was a good thing that O'Grady announced his retirement at the beginning of the season, or wait until the end. My response was the announcement could have one of two effects. Motivate the team, such we are seeing right now with Michigan State, or deflate the team. After today's loss to La Crosse, it looks like it is the later.

RF didn't lose that much talent and actually should have gained ground this year because they played very young last year. Yet, if you see them in the game, it is in the first half. The second half has been usually down hill. So it looks like the team is already starting to hang up their cleats and waiting to see what will happen for next season.

What does everyone else think?
A fiend? I hope that was a typo>>>  ;)

Tough call; it can go either way... Win one for the gipper, or lose all hope? I, for one, would hope they continue to compete and dig deep, since you never know what can happen on any given Saturday....

I guess it boils down to the senior leadership. They are playing the rest of the season out on pride; that isn't going to get them too far, though, if they don't have the rest of the team beleiving in itself. This team has to take the cliche one-game-at-at-time approach, and look toward finishing at .500 on the year, knowing that it will probably take an upset of two for them to do so, but this conference is the WIAC, where they do, indeed, happen...

UWRF has played a tough schedule, losing to the #4, #13 and #15 teams before playing UWL... Two winless teams pitted against each other yesterday, and something had to give; UWRF may have caught UWL at the wrong time, since I'm not sure how a second game would turn out this season....

UWL, from what I've seen, including yesterday, has been on the brink of its first W all season, but didn't play a complete game all year until yesterday... They cleaned things up yesterday and didn't make the stupid mistakes like they did in the previous games...

UWRF has a good grind-it-out team; they had two nice long drives to put up a 14-7 lead, but then UWL got the big momentum. After a tie at 14, UWL forced a fumble on the next play, then scored on a weird play = QB Nick Anker went out, and a frosh QB, Mike Butterfield, ran the wildcat formation and took it to the house by getting outside and scampering down the sidelines for a 47 yard TD, making it 21-14 UWL...

The big mo then shifted and was in the Eagles hands at halftime; UWRF drove down field on the next posession to the UWL 37, but were stuffed on a forth and one, turning it over on downs. UWL then put up about 30 yards rushing on its next three plays, then had a nice 27-yard sideline catch to set up a 2-yard rushing TD... That made it 28-14 at half; and UWRF wasn't able to stretch the field and make up the difference the second half.... UWL D played welll; had four turnovers...

Another big factor was that UWRF's RB Taylor Edwards, who was leading the conference in rushing, went out midway through the first quarter with an injury and did not return... Not sure how serious it was...

So, the Falcons have to just take it play-by-play and build on it; if I were a senior, I'd tell the underclassmen that they are auditioning for jobs next year, since a new coach is coming in, and they aren't guaranteed to keep their starting roles when a new set of eyes will be evaluating them come next year...
Yes, thanks that was suppose to be Friend.

You account of the second half has seemed to be a theme for RF this year. Edwards being out is a serious problem for them, but they have a couple of other decent backs too.

I hope they are able to pull an upset this season, but it is looking worse and worse for them.

Devil Badger Gopher

Being a Blue Devil fan, I am excited to think that many see them with the possibility of running the table.  I hope this to be true, but still not sure that will get them into the playoffs.  They are 1-1 vs. NAIA schools so their regional number would be 7-1 if they can run the table.  That is a low amount of wins and I am sure the committee may peak at the extra loss out of conference and division.  Still a long way to go for that, but it will be interesting.

I stand by my quote earlier this season when I said they would go 0-7 based on past performances and the coach announcing retirement prior to season.  Without their stud RB, I see them really falling off towards the end of the year.

It does, but you have to earn that privilege -- we don't give it to the newest posters because there was a tendency to abuse it. You should qualify to move to second-stringer soon.

02Warhawk,

I feel the same way.....for the same reasons!  ;D  But if this what I have to sacrifice; eating good food, having some cold beverages and cheering loudly throughout a game for the Warhaws to get a "W", then I am willing to do it!  Oh, the sacrifices a parent has too make   :D

Any word on how badly Edwards is hurt? It would be awful if he's out for the year or any length of time for that matter.  I don't doubt the Faclons have some good backs behind him, but I'd feel really badly for Taylor.  :(
