HELP WANTED:

Looking for Pollsters for a "soon to be unveiled" D3 TOP 25 FAN POLL.

Publishing site: www.uwwfootball.blogspot.com

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Commit to submit a ballot ranking the D3 Teams 1-25 by stated deadline. I'm thinking that will be midnight on Mondays.
2. Research the teams and try to be as unbiased as possible in ranking them.
3. Think through your own philosophy as to how much to weigh previous ranking, won/loss record, your sense as to who would win head to head, national performances in recent years, quality wins, and whatever reasonable criteria you care to choose.
4. Submit a ballot EVERY WEEK by the deadline. Missing a deadline will be cause to forfeit your spot. Create and submit your ballot BEFORE viewing the D3football.com poll. You can look at previous weeks polls to get you started if you are having a hard time filling out the last few slots.

PURPOSE OF POLL

This poll is to promote meaningful and fun discussion on d3boards.com.  It is simply something that will be fun to contrast with D3football.com's poll. D3football.com's poll is the one legitimate poll we have in D3 football in my opinion.  This poll is not even intended to become #2. I just think it would be an interesting point of comparison and discussion.

HOW TO APPLY

Send me a private message. In your message indicate:
1. you are applying to be a pollster.
2. What team/conference you follow.
3. Whether you can submit a poll as early as this Thursday. (That is not mandatory, if everyone can we may do one this week).

WHO WILL BE CHOSEN?

The first 25 respondents will be our initial group of pollsters.  This group will remain the D3 FOOTBALL FAN POLL TOP 25 pollsters unless they resign their position or miss a deadline.  Pollsters, I will never post your names on the boards.  If you choose to, that is fine. If you are beyond the first 25 responses, your name will be placed on a "waiting list".  If there are fewer than 25 respondents by midnight on Wednesday, we will go with what we have and continue to have "open" slots to be filled.

Remember FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!  ;)

Check out THIS wild play from high school player Joe Sobucki in Girard (Pa.). It's the first play on the clip. We've all seen the hook and ladder, but probably not like this. "We just call that the 'Oop-de-oop,''' Sobucki told the Times-News.

The best part of this play is the statistical breakdown.

He gets 82 yards passing and credit for a passing TD.

He gets 79 yards receiving and credit for a receving TD.

He does not get credit for a reception, as that goes to first guy who catches the ball.

If St. Thomas and UWW win out... what are the chances Mount goes East, Whitewater goes North, Wesley goes South, and St. Thomas stays west?

Sounds reasonable.  Chances are probably pretty high.

Only if North Central loses. I wouldn't say "chances are probably pretty high" that UWW goes north with 2 undefeated and top 5 teams sitting in the North region. It really depends on what happens in other regions as well. There is no rationale right now to make the Tommies a top 4 seed over an undefeated CCIW champion.

The one game at a time advocates would say..."we're only in week 7, what are we talking about what 'might' happen in week 11?" Win the games your suppose to and everything should work out accordingly, IMO. Pencil your team a playoff berth, and funny things start to happen with your won/loss record. Furthermore, it is usually difficult to know exactly what the championship committee will do - the last few years has brought a few surprises.

Agreed.  Lots of football to be played, and on any given Saturday anything can happen.  I suspect there are a few Alfred, Coe, Baldwin-Wallace, Cortland State, and Randolph-Macon fans that were thinking about week 11 prior to last Saturday's game.

while I agree with your view this is the mentality for the players and coaches. If we all subscribed to that there would be no message board. :)

USee, what is your opinion on that North Central win vs Eau Claire now? Just curious.  ;)

I'll be curious to see if Aaron Rusch's 8 receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown plus his 10 yard touchdown pass are sufficent to get the WARHAWKS their first WIAC offensive player of the week.   Eight receptions is a nice number though admittedly 69 yards isn't all that many.  But a receiving and passing touchdown in the same game is pretty unusual.

I don't really know what anybody else in the league did though.  So we'll have to wait and see.

I don't think it tells us very much other than UWW is good (surprise, surprise). It means the top CCIW teams are a lot better than the middle-bottom WIAC teams. I am guessing we all thought that already. It means about as much as Wheaton's win over Platteville at this point.

Looking forward to the NCC vs Wheaton game.  That might tell us something.

The NCC and UWW defenses used the same formula against UWEC - shut down the rush and pressure the QB from the edges.

Offensively, UWW has a lot of talent and experience at the skill positions. They can score a lot of points against anyone.

In Game 3, NCC was still looking for their offensive identity. They've gone from a Pass Happy team for the last 7 years to one that is more run oriented. They lined up four different players at the QB position against UWEC, but now seem to have chosen one player. The offense is substantially different than it was against UWEC.

Having seen both teams in person, it's going to take a heckuva performance to hang with UWW for 4 quarters. Even UMU. You have to execute and don't dare miss a tackle.
