Yes it is only our radio coverage.  Ramer Field is still third-class and has no internet either.

Mobile...broadband...card.  The internet can't hide anymore.
The last time I checked, we are all state funded schools, yet River Falls has been the last to get most upgrades to their athletic facilities. Of course, if some off you want to refer your deep pocket funders our way, we can get it upgraded to what everyone else has.  ::)

BTW, you just gotta love the continued digs by those that have of those that don't on this site.  ::)

For UWW to get ITS facility upgrades it took a hell of a lot of private fundraising locally.  Huge Kudos to Paul Plinske, Bob Berezowitz and a number of others for seeding the football facility upgrade.  If fundraising was easy EVERYONE would do it!
I don't disagree, but how does that justify the snide comment by Just Bill? After watching the game, it reminded me of something someone told me a long time ago. Do not judge a team by it's fans, as they don't select them or have any control of them. I can say the team handled themselves well and are a well coached. As for some of their fans, well they have to look at themselves in the mirror each day and answer if they are representing "their" team the best way.

I will end with something that will likely not break a few hearts on here. I am going to walk away from this site for the rest of the season. I can get the information that I need else where and would rather stay away from those that don't seem to have a positive view of our conference as a whole. I wish the best to everyone on the rest of the season and hope the WIAC brings home a national champion.

Hey BoBo,

My summary of the game was posted at 3:53; I know, it's easy to lose track of posts when they don't concern your Warhawks...

Come on over to the Politics board; your ad hominem attacks would fit in just fine there...
;D

Hey BoBo - I didn't read much in-depth analysis or opinion in the in-game comments from you this week for the UWW/UWRF. How come? Did you use up all your constructive criticism last week?

Oh - I just reread your post; you talk about remedial English lessons? Perhaps you need a refresher, too. I never bitched about whether people read or don't read my responses or reply to them. In fact, I actually challenged you not to, if you don't want to.

And that's a big difference from what you think I wrote; I merely said you guys wonder why others don't bother to participate here. You responded during that topic back in August, but perhaps you've forgotten participating in that conversation, or didn't comprehend the points being made by others...

I really don't care if you do or don't read my posts; but when people poke the beehive, I respond. And that's not a matter of having the last word; it's merely having an equal opportunity to speak...

And you accuse me of distorting things? Where did I say your smart-ass responses were objectionable, over the top, or in poor taste? I said they were smart-ass and shots...

I've had my balanced time here, addressing the posts here who have managed to keep the pot stirred. Shall we continue down this line? Or does BoBo want the last word? I'd really prefer talking football here, but methinks BoBo will take the bait... Ha. Sharpen your stick; you've been poking the beehive so much, it's getting dull...
;D

Yawn...... ;)  This is getting very old. As someone who drove from the Chicago suburbs all the way to River Falls in the rain, until we got about 18 miles northwest of Eau Claire and enjoyed the company tailgating and the weather and a fine Warhawk's win, I would rather talk about that game.  From my perspective it was a game of total offensive line domination.  AA ran very well behind the first string line and the second string line of which my son is one, totally dominated the first string RF defense and Pirtle ran wild as well.   It was nice to see the second string quarterback get a chance to throw the ball.

Back to the starters, Matt Blanchard had another superb day.  Was not asked to pass often, but when he was he responded with accurate passing with great decision making.

After the game had some fun visiting with Warhawk Fans,, visiting with my son and the drove back to Eau Claire and found a place called Dana's Grill and Bar and they had all you can eat ribs, with soup and potato and 25 oounce Miller Lite drafts while the Chicago Blackhawks game was on, they lost   :(.  Dana's was only about a block from our hotel.  Hotel had great breakfast and a drive home.

All in all a wonderrful day and weekend.

I looked for a picture of the "War On 94" traveling trophy played for by Stout and UWEC and all I found was this picture of a 1994 Triumph motorcycle.  :P   :D

Beyond Prime, stick around please. You are a solid poster. :)

Not so long ago, someone commented on the dramatic fall from prominence of UWL and UWRF compared to what they were 10 years ago. Since the head coaches during those days gone by are still active,  could it be that something besides incipient senility is at work which may be beyond their control? I would suggest the shift is directly due to the amount of time available to coach and recruit free of teaching requirements, which make it virtually impossible to leave campus. If the season ended Saturday, how many coaches could hit the recruiting trail tomorrow?  From the grapevine I've heard--
UWL   = 1 (Coach Terry himself)
UWRF = 1 (not O'G)
UWO  = 4 (fifth coach has one class)
Others?

Since I'm waxing nostalgic, I will continue with the observation that the WIAC is no longer the nation's premier conference, top to bottom. Even those hated neighbors to the west--the MIAC--has three teams that can beat everyone here except UWW consistently. UWEC would protest, but I would not bet one penny on them against St. John's now that the attrition of a long, hard season has taken its toll.

Some claim parity is a sign of mediocrity, but just the opposite is true. And, parity is AWOL in the conference now. UWW is the premier team. Stout, UWO, and UWSP are competitive. UWEC, UWP, and possibly UWL are mediocre.  And, UWRF can't compete--at least not defensively.

The upshot of all this for me personally is a loss of interest in D3 football in Wisconsin and nationally, too.  Maybe I'm unique, but the diversity of posting at this site speaks to the contrary.  In the deepest sense, the "games" are now won and lost before the teams ever hit the field. The new game-breakers are size of coaching staff, released time to coach and recruit, ability to grayshirt and stockpile players, resources available to retain players, and the ability to secure financial commitment from private individuals and commercial entities to supplement public funds.

If the current trend continues, UWW would do well to seek to replace St. Cloud State in the NSIC, while UWRF might emulate Macalester's solution to keeping football on campus.

Of course, I would prefer to see parity come back to the conference. For that to happen, some antithetical solutions merit discussion:
(1) no home visits of recruits
(2) perhaps no off-campus recruiting allowed, period
(3) only public money (no donated cars) can be spent in recruiting
(3) no grayshirting
(4) reinstate red-shirting
(5) increase roster limits from 100 to 110
(6) institute generally similar budget limitations--ala the NFL--on what schools can spend on football.

Hope alot of these young minnesota players from UWRF stay at UWRF in the coming years!  Seems they have a few decent young players in Adams, Mandoza, Bjorkland, Mehan, Brandt, and Udeh to name those listed in the recap! Things will get better there for sure!
And I hope the arrogant people in the south stay there! BTW, I live south and am glad my son decided to go north!
Beyond Prime.

I went back and read all the posts that led up to you saying you were leaving the Board.  For one, I enjoyed River Falls yesterday, the setting, tailgating and I thought the River Falls fans were first class.  When I went to the UWW- Platteville game, I was surprised to see way over 1/2 of their fans leave at half time and they were still in the game.

I agree that the State of Wisconsin should do something to equalize the facilities as much as they can, but it will probably not happen in the current economy.

From purely a football fan standpoint I want the WIAC to be as strong as possible and given some of the young talent on the Falcons roster, I think they will continue to improve.

Also, stay on the Board, everyone adds to the discussion.

Hey BlueDevil Bob -

Congrats on the War on 94 win today...

Good thing the UWEC D showed up, or it would have been a blowout...  ;)

Gotta pin a 9-point loss on the Blugold special teams this week, however, seeings they gave up three field goals!  ;)

Or maybe it was an inept Blugold O?
I've been using the football forum to gear up and get in midseason-form for posting in the hoops forum. Can't wait for that season to be in action, too... How about you?  ;)

Have a victory toast on me!

Thanks bulk, it was a very offensive minded game.

Warhawk fans would have enjoyed seeing Carlos Conception's 90 yard return for a touchdown of the 2nd half kickoff. Seems the WW posters enjoyed watching him down there.

Watch it here:

The wideout #4 for the BluGolds was exceptional. Good on returns and tough to deal with on offense.

Nice win for the Devils and the trophy is ours for another year. Glad it didn't rain!  :)

BlueDevil Bob

Nice run by Concepcion!  I had to go get my wife to watch it.  She loved how hard he ran in the UWW game and of course the hair.  Is he ever used out of the backfield for pass catching?   Big strong guy and getting him out one on one would be interesting.

For Christ's sake...I don't think I ever seen so much drama on this board before. People just have to remember this is a just a message board....RELAX!!! People are allowed to voice their opinions, and if you don't agree you're allowed to state your reasoning.

Some of us are taking this to heart WAY too much... :-\

Talking about how bad your opponents were, after you beat them, is sure to cause some hard feelings. It's totally unnecessary.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.
