Had to learn about this new article in the UW-W Royal Purple published last week from a student in the parking lot yesterday.  My son never tells me anything!   ;) ;D

I love the way A.J. puts life into perspective.  Having cancer survivors in your family, certainly makes the entire family appreciate everything more.

Great story on AJ, 413.  He was an inspiration to his teammates as a WARHAWK player and now he's an inspiration to many more.

A few random thoughts...

How about the catch Adam Brandes made at the close of the third quarter?  A fifty yard reception/run on a pass that had interception written all over it.  You could just see the Eagle defender getting ready to make the interception when Brandes leaped over the top of him, stole the ball away and then gained another 10-12 yards before going down.  The Eagle defender was on all fours and had to wondering how the heck Brandes took the ball away from him.  Brandes makes some of the most incredible catches which remind me of the catches Derek Stanley use to make.  I hope the SID office submits the video for consideration as the play of the week.  Absolutely incredible

It was great to see Kindler drill both field goal attempts.  Each week his confidence grows.

After four penalties in the first quarter the WARHAWKS committed only one more the rest of the way.

Jenkins punting mechanics aren't exactly text book and the punts aren't the best looking I've seen but he sure boom them and they sure were effective.  It is isn't often that you see Rusch running backwards and fielding a punt over his shoulder.  IT was impressive.  Both he and Akers are good receivers too.

I thought Point's defense played a pretty decent game.  We were fortunate to get some short fields due to their offensive mistakes.  When forced to make lengthy extended drives their defense did a pretty good job.

Coppage did a great job in his first extensive use of the season.

Great job by our defensive front.  Swank was under pressure all day.  In addition to the four sacks he was knocked down several times.  They also did a great job stuffing the Pointer rushing attack.

Is there anything in football older than the reverse handoff on the kickoff return?  Point got some pretty good field position off of it.

While I enjoy seeing the WARHAWKS whoop up on opponents it's games like this one that do more to prepare us for the postseason.

The catch by Brandes was amazing...he really bailed Blanchard out on that play as the ball was under thrown.  The d-line had a great game.  They really smothered the Pointer QB. It was like a sea of black in the backfield!

KitchenSink

Add me to the Brandes backers - that catch was awesome.  Absolutely picked the DB's pocket.  Where's the Youtube on that one??
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

MasterJedi

I too loved the Brandes catch, it got the crowd pumped up. I also like that this big crowd had more energy than the family day one. Got so packed by the time my roomates dad got here we had to tailgate in the parking lot down by the William's Center by the sand volleyball and tennis courts. Either way great game with great weather.

Agree with BW that it is competitive games like this one that help prepare a team for the playoffs.....Truly impressed with Coppage. Without breaking a long run he simply was terrific. Watched him all through high school where he was very good but now he really has matured into a super player. He is able to almost always avoid the hard hit......Have to give props to the defense especially the Dline and linebackers....Love to watch 97 come in on pass rushing situations and rush the QB....Pound the Rock.....

Raider 68,

I would put the odds of a UW-W/Mount Union Stagg Bowl at 50/50. However, I don't take anything for granted in the playoffs.  The teams I am most concerned about are Linfield and St. Thomas.  Truthfully, I can't see anyone on Mount's side of the bracket that would pose much of a threat to them at all.  I don't think NCC could either score much against the Raiders or stop them too well.

That's funny.  I was thinking the same thing about no one in the west giving UWW a game and worrying about Mount having to face NCC or Wheaton or ONU again, or.........

Montclair State? Albright?  ;)

I would agree with bleedpurple..I would rather play East teams then West teams in the playoffs.

WarhawkDad

I think the O-Line performed well and the D-Line and D front 7 were outstanding.   It was a "workmanlike" performance.  People around us in the stands were complaining about the play calling and wanted to throw more on second down and open it up.  From my perspective, we were controlling the clock, limiting their possessions and it was a strong performance.   You do not have to win in spectacular fashion each week to continue to improve.  It is the outcome that matters.  Unfortunately, we won't be able to travel to Oshkosh, so I hope those attending have great weather.

FYI, the teams I listed are NORTH teams.  Not east.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Pretty sure that's why he said he agreed with bleedpurple, who listed East teams.

And I'm pretty sure we'd all agree the east with be significantly easier than either than north or west. So if Mount goes east, they will have an easier road than UWW, who will be in either the north or west.

No arguments on that with me.  north and west are significantly stronger.
