Who will get the better coach: UWL of UWRF?

Well UWL has the better recent history and the better facilities. I'd go with them to get the better new HC.

02 Warhawk

congrats to the 'hawks for the 6 straight WIAC championship.  :)

With the Oshkosh loss Saturday, UWW will, at worst, have a share of the WIAC title. Seems like that's always Lance's goal to start the year...win the WIAC, THEN go from there.

I agree with everything that's been said about the game so far. However, I will say that there's no longer doubt on who the best punter in the WIAC is....I'm not sure how many times Jenkins put the ball over Rusch's head saturday....that was very impressive. I have to agree with BW, it wasn't pretty watching him punt, but you can't argue with results.

His punting distance was spectacular,  but his punts appeared to have less hang time than Rosholt.  If he had been played back far enough, returns might have been possible because he outkicked the coverage.  No complaints, but if he is going to try to punt at the next level, hang time will need to improve.  At least in my humble opinion.

Does Whitewater get to keep the revenue from the football games or does it have to share some of it with the rest of the WIAC?

From the WIAC bylaws -

28.2.2 Revenue Distribution. Unless otherwise stipulated, revenue generated from distribution rights pertaining to WIAC regular-season events shall be divided equally among the conference's member institutions whereas revenue generated from distribution rights associated with WIAC postseason events shall remain with the conference office.

Thanks. Does "distribution rights" refer to gate revenue or revenue from media distribution (i.e., radio, tv) or both?

The reason I ask is because if they do get to keep the money then it seems like they could use some of it to bring DIII teams to the Perk.  Maybe not necessarily playoff caliber teams, but teams interested in the money. Kinda like the Badgers and other BCS teams do.

Distribution rights, not gate revenue.

Thanks for the clarification Pat, you are right, that would not be gate revenue.  So, I emailed the WIAC Commissioner and asked him.  Lets see if I get a response.

BoBo, enough of, what seems to be, a self-imposed hibernation.  Come on back.  Considering where you live, it won't take much for me to start worrying.   :-*

No, no fbf413...not even close!!  ;) The new school my daughter is attending this year has a fall recess, like spring break, but 2 weeks long. It was long enough for us to take a short get-a-way to our little villa we own on the island of Rota in the Northern Mariana Islands. It's only a 4 1/2 hour flight from Incheon to Guam and another hour by puddle jumper northeast. A beautiful 87˚ everyday; the rainy season just ending. I have no idea what this thing called the internet is when we're there!!  ;D

Sounds like the Warhawk's took care of business on Saturday. I figured they would, but Point came to battle, as we knew they would. I just listened to the weekly podcast – KM painted a nice picture of the atmosphere in and around the Perk. He seemed to be very impressed. Had good things to say about UW-SP, too.

I'm off again on a long, short trip; going to miss my second straight game. But, I think we'll handle UW-O OK to clinch the outright championship. Coming to America!! Haven't said that for 3 years...yeah!! However, we're going to New York to see Army and Air Force for the first time in 10 years. Our niece has invited us to be her guest at the game. Despite the fact she's an Air Force Major, we still like her a lot.  :D I'll be rooting for Army, of course. Hope they wear the "camo" uni's they introduced last week (did you see those?). Be back next week.

bobo...anything to report on the north/south shots fired?...are you safe?

Fortunately, the only shots fired at me came from post patterns...and then I think they were either blanks or from someone who couldn't shoot straight!!  ;) There were probably more shots fired in Milwaukee that day then here. No big deal; it does happen all the time, but usually never gets reported.

Those Army camo uni's were very cool.  They need a version with the dark green/brown/black color mix and the Desert Storm mix - though they were almost somewhat in the direction of Desert Storm on Saturday.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Yea!  Glad all is well and a much needed vaca was the reason for the hiatus. Your absence sure was conspicuous.  ;)   Wow, sure seems that you have a very interesting life, BoBo.

After giving a bad answer from the WIAC by-laws I contacted WIAC Commissioner Gary Karner and asked the question.   He answered first thing this morning which is very impressive.  :)  Here is his response, "Gate receipts for all WIAC contests with the exception of the WIAC Postseason Basketball Tournament are kept by the host institution."

So each school benefits when it has a team regardless of sport that "packs the house".

Just FYI.

Great detective work!  The football team probably uses the money to travel and to bring teams in.  Money is probably also used to fund the other sports at Whitewater like football does at Wisconsin.  For the Badgers, I think that only football, men's hockey, and men's basketball make a profit.

skunks_sidekick

Do I remember reading from previous years that the students all get in/got in to the games for free?  Our that many times their ticket costs were covered by a certain "friend of the program"?

The only reason I ask is I wondered how that affects the overall revenue generated from the gate?

I look forward to coming up there sometime for a game, but preferably when it is warm at the beginning of the year.   :)  Of course, that will mean it will be a non-Mount/UWW game, but we get to see that match-up enough as it is.
