At first I was pretty upset.  I certainly think UWW got the short end of the stick.  The fact of the matter still remains.  WE ARE THE BEST FOOTBALL TEAM IN DIVISION III.  I'm still planning a vacation to Salem in December to watch my 'Hawks play.

Warhawk fans, don't worry.  I can assure you the players and coaches are not worried.

I don't think anyone is worried. We're just pissed that we have to go all the way to Naperville to watch NCC get triple monkey stomped by us instead of watching it in Perkins stadium. They're not in our our league both literally and figuratively and their disposition towards playing us is as big an indicator as any.

The only indicator I have seen from you so far is completely classless representation of your school. Go ahead and be pissed at the NCAA but don't be an idiot to other schools and their fans.

Wrong on all accounts. I'm not being an idiot, I know what I'm talking about. I can be pissed at NCC if I want to because they won't schedule us and their fans are spending the afternoon trying to justify their ranking. Class is an issue brought up by the self righteous when they can't seem to come up with an argument to dispute a position opposite of theirs.  Way to go, you sure taught me a lesson.

Wrong.  Titan Q was not trying to justify the ranking, but rather was trying to explain how the NCAA might have come up with that ranking by applying its criteria.  There's a difference.  I haven't seen anyone from the CCIW or anywhere else say that the NCAA got it right.

I never mentioned Titan Q specifically. I understand his intent and he is not the subject of my criticism of NCC fans. There are people that are downplaying the level of talent in the WIAC and trying to call us out for not scheduling tough teams. The fact of the matter is that North Central went down to the wire with the second worst team in our conference and they're acting like we haven't played anyone. No one will schedule us but they'll schedule some of the poorer teams in our league and say "hey, our conference beat yours head to head." That's my point. The second worst team in our conference took your champion to the wire. The strength of our conference should play a factor into seeding.

Is UWW, along with Cortland State, SUNY Maritime, & Christopher Newport the only public schools in the bracket? Just wondering...  But, I'm certain this has nothing to do with the seeding.  ;)

Mr. Ypsi

On subjective (i.e., perception) grounds, I haven't seen a single poster on ANY board arguing that UWW shouldn't have been a #1 seed.  BY THE CRITERIA for D3 (voted by the members, not imposed by some alien NCAA), NO ONE from UWW (or elsewhere) has explained how THIS year (prior years are not in the criteria) UWW is any more deserving of a #1 seed than are 10-0 St. Thomas or 10-0 NCC.

Rather than continuing the bitching session, perhaps someone could step up to the plate?

I, too, on subjective grounds was shocked that UWW was not a #1 seed, but by the member-voted criteria, why should they be?

The only conspiracy here, I suspect, is to see different colors in the Stagg Bowl.  We are being penalized for being successful, not public.

You could make an argument that Mt U should've been a #2, instead of UWW.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Pat Coleman

I will throw out the common opponent.

UW-Whitewater 45, at UW-Eau Claire 0
at North Central 20, UW-Eau Claire 6

There was room in the criteria for the NCAA to make this decision if it wanted to. Clearly it did not.

Guess UWW shouldn't have taken the foot off the gas in the fourth quarter and let the No. 2 offensive line and No. 4 running back run out the clock without scoring.

Let's face it - at least as far as Whitewater is concerned, the bracket is a travesty.  Any serious D3 fan knows that.  This is a ham handed attempt to increase the odds that there will be at least one new team in Salem in December.  Why didn't they just put UWW and Mount on the same side of the bracket as #1's?

If they committee was using Titan Q's concept, then Mt U would have been #4, not #3.

Lets see what UWW's football resume for the D III Football Committee......

UW-Whitewater Football - 6 consecutive WIAC Championships - five consecutive trips to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl - 2007 & 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships - the nations current longest win streak (any division) - and a No. 2 seed in the 2010 Division III Playoffs, Priceless ??? :'(

Whitewater gets penalized because D III schools, particularly CCIW schools refuse to play the Warhawks.

Great playoff system NCAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
instead of the whining by you and a few others from UWW today, how about you just line up and play and prove the bracket doesn't matter?

"down to the wire" isn't very accurate.    Show me where anyone from NCC was "acting like we haven't played anyone" or said anything close to "hey, our conference beat yours head to head". If anything, we have been equally surprised at the lack of a #1 seed for UWW!

And since Mt. U jumped from #3 to #1 in the North the very week that #2 NCC whupped #1 Wheaton, 28-6, I would certainly join you in making that argument! ;D

Common opponents:
STU 27- UWRF 3
UWW 63- UWRF 14
NCC 20- UWEC 6
UWW 45- UWEC 0.

It's obvious that there's a huge difference in talent when UWW takes the field. We've destroyed our common opponents while these other two (more NCC than STU) are eeking out tough wins against them.

will the selection show be posted on this site? I had to run to a bar to watch it b/c we don't have espn news...but the audio wasn't on. i was curious what was said.

By the way it sounds, it doesn't look like explanations have been giving yet...

I'll play along...apart from what happen last year (i agee with you about that). Do you think NCC is a better team than UWW?

There's probably no one that thinks NCC is better than UWW. Wesley, St. Thomas, Mount Union, and MHB may not be better than UWW.

However, according to the NCCA's criteria, they all grade out higher than UWW after 11 weeks of football. The message is that SOS is important. Don't be complaining that no one will play you. Other teams make the same argument (UMU, Trine, NCC, etc.). Get creative to schedule better non-conference competition.

On the WIAC board, the UWW supporters belittle all the other WIAC teams. You need those teams to be better, to actually have a couple games where UWW sweats a little. In the last D3 Poll, only UWSP received votes (besides UWW) and it was just 1 vote. So, the rest of the country doesn't respect the rest of the WIAC. UWW could win the D3 Chamionship again, but the WIAC is not the best conference. The CCIW has had 2 teams in the top 20 all season, and other teams have received votes week to week. Look at the scores of Wheaton's games and you'll see a better balance in the CCIW.

The other thing that is somewhat irking to me is that there is all this concern with regional ranking, SOS within a region, opponents SOS soforth and so on. Then, when they go to make the brackets, regions are somehow forgotten about.
