By the way, the easiest thing the NCAA could have done this year is move NCC to Wheaton's spot in the St Thomas bracket, make UWW #1 North and Wheaton #2 North. Nothing changes for anyone else. Wheaton and NCC are 7 miles apart. That way, the OBVIOUS 3rd and 4th team (UST/NCC) are in the same bracket and can battle it out on the field. It wouldn't have created any extra flights or reworking of brackets to do it.

The other question is, based on the criteria, why did the committee move UWW North and Wheaton West? They are both #2's and regionally proximal to each other. What is the criteria used to move UWW North as a #2? I can understand the move of UMU East as #1 and UWW North as #1, but #2 makes no sense. To me it again highlights the inconsistency of how the criteria is applied.

There was an easy solution but the committee missed it.

Why would wheaton be in the south? or do you mean Wheaton be #2 in the north?

MasterJedi

^ I would imagine he means West. And since they don't like conference rematches it makes sense to switch them so that the only way it would happen would be in the Stagg Bowl.

good catch. I meant just swap NCC and Wheaton as they sit now but make UWW #1 in the North. S wheaton North and NCC west. Nothing else changes. You could swap seed and spots with Wheaton (so wheaton plays Franklin and UWW plays St Norbs, etc). would have been simple (and it reflects the bracket Pat and Gordon created.

Not bad...plus it'll be easier for St. Norbert to travel to Whitewater, WI compared to Naperville, IL.

But I think NCC is a better team than STU...but's that an irrelevant debate  :P

Well, the downside of that bracket change is it makes the west very, very tough but it aligns those folks thinking UST v NCC deserves a #1. That's clearly what the smart people are debating and that's also the game that would be most interesting.

For those of you who will be unable to attend the WARHAWK game I've been told that there will be live video streaming of the game.  A link will be added to the athletics' website later this week.

Perhaps, I didn't express that accurately. As it was told to me, Karner called for an "urgent" meeting without detailing the topic.  Many ADs and Presidents had no idea what it was to be about, but never expected a plea about football scheduling.  So perhaps it was more a case of a lack of providing information, rather than providing misleading information.

Can anybody simply call for a meeting and not announce a purpose and actually expect anybody to show up? What did they do, tell them they would provide free pizza and coca-cola, too? I find this rather weird at this or any level.

I don't know. It was at the NCAA Convention so all the players are in the same location to start with.  I would guess that perhaps they expected it to be a discussion on pending legislation.  It wouldn't be unusual at a convention setting for a group of schools and conference from the same region to "huddle" up and come to a consesnus opinion before going to the convention floor and debate/vote.

I agree with Bill and think some of you are getting too caught up in the clandestine aspect of the meeting. It's a convention, attendees gather in sub-meetings on different subjects all the time if it is like any convention I am aware of.   Point is, he asked, they laughed.................'nough said!     :(

Atleast one regional committee member admits this year's selection had more to do with numbers, and little to do with common sense.

Let me take a shot at this one, though I didn't make the original comment.

NCC beat UWEC in a game that any NCC fan will tell you was more a blowout than the 20-6 score it represents (  ;) ) - UWEC beat SJU in OT and UST beat SJU narrowly in a game they coulda, shoulda, lost. Hence, NCC is a better team!! Makes perfect sense, right?  ::)

EDIT:

The quote functions are all screwed up - don't actually know who made the first one; retagent asked the follow-up. retagent, learn how to use the quote button correctly, please!!  ;)
