well i think talking about the ranking of brackets and all that stuff is nice, but since when did the actual ranking of brackets come into play? the last couple years when i played we were always told bracket rankings never were in effect.  also playing NCC will be something else if either team gets to that point, but until either team makes it to the 1/4 finals i wouldn't even worry about it.  the way i see it is uww is the team to still beat regardless where they r in the bracket or playoffs, they're #1 and defending champs.

So just take it as it is and let the guys play ball.  I no they will be ready and if they lose when they're ready then so be it, if it's another purple vs. purple stagg so be it.

I would be very surprised to see NCC lose before facing UWW. I wouldn't have said that in any of the playoff years before this one but this NCC team has a championship caliber defense and special teams. The only question I have for them is on offense where I am not sure they have enough playmakers to compete w UWW. Unless someone can tell me ONU's defense is as good as UWW's or UMU's then I don't see NCC losing until they face a defense that can match theirs.

UW-RF's non-conference teams all made it to the playoffs but:

NONE of them are even close to UWW.  The ability and talent level of UWW is way above any of those three teams.   Also I believe that NCC will more than likely get knocked off and that final game will be at Whitewater.

Also UW-Stevens Point is better than any of those non-conference opponents.

The first point will be played out on the field. But on paper and history, yeah, we'd all have to give you UWW as the prohibitive favorite over everyone, except of course UMU. That's always a battle

the latter point. Based on what grounds? I think UWSP is a very good team, but they lost to a 3 loss Willamette squad did they not? Certainly not a given they are better than UST.

The TOP of the CCIW is always tough and that hasn't been Carthage for awhile.  NCC/Wheaton have held the top spots recently along with the occasional upstart like IWU last year.  Augie has a rich history but not so much as of late.  The bottom half, very weak, but whoever rises to the top every year could take the vast majority of the top of most D-3 conferences, I suspect, except the WIAC, OAC, MIAC, NWC, etc.  A number of those schools recruited my son and most are in my, "backyard," so I am  somewhat familiar with the conference.  Just my 02 cents.

The good news is we get to test this theory this year. I am excited about the opportunity Wheaton has to play in the west bracket. I have a healthy respect for the MIAC and NWC but have limited experience other than seeing Wheaton v Bethel each of the last two years and a few of the playoff games at the Perk I attended. It will be a great challenge for Wheaton to play in this bracket and see how they match up.

One of the most interesting things about the playoffs this year is:

Wow........bold statement considering the team was 1-9.  Methinks maybe you are just a tad bit biased in that observation.   ::)

Ooops...now realize you were talking about Stevens Point......well at least that has a bit more credibility.
More than a, "bit more credibility." in my opinion, considering that the Pointers only lost one game in the WIAC to the Hawks, 24-14, the closes score we have had this season. Their 1 other loss was their first NC game against 7-3 Willamette from the very tough NWC but it is what they did in the WIAC that I put more weight on.   #2 in the WIAC, gives you a lot of credibility in my mind but ya, I might be a tad bit biased.   ;)

Hold the phone there young lady!   ;D  Didn't they finish 7-3?  Big loss to Williamette, loss to UWW, and a loss to UWEC?

Again......I have to say it's a "stretch" to say the least to tout them as better than St. Thomas or ONU.  Hmm...not buying it.  But it's good chatter... ;)

Oh, Damn you are fast!  I just realized that I screwed up. They lost to UWEC as well and I missed it the first time!  I was going to fix it but just decided to delete and start over and just after I did it, I saw your post.  Now my incompetence is documented, SS.  Thanks for that!   ;) :D ;D BTW, love the, "young lady," part!
Ya, remembering that they lost to the BluGolds as well, doesn't look great considering where UW-EC ended up, going 2-5 in the WIAC.   :(

Ditto that.  I've always wondered how the CCIW would stack up against the IIAC.

you're absolutely right...lets first see how UWW and NCC do in the first two rounds before looking and predicting beyond that. I know UWW is a VERY tallented team, but it's my nature to worry.  :-[

what's more shocking?

No #1 seed for UWW or that UWW didn't finish last in penalties this season in the WIAC?  :o   :o   :o
