One of the strangest 52-21 games you will ever see.

Glad that one is over, too. You're right dallas, time to get re-focused, concentrate on Trine next week and nothing else.

Kudos to FC for a well played, hard fought game.

Agreed with all of that....

I fear what the score would have been today if the opponent had any type of running game.  I haven't said this in MANY years, but FC looked more physical on the line than UWW for a big portion of this game.  I have a feeling watching film is not going to be a lot of fun.  I also have a feeling practice will be a bit more intense this week.

Intensity is DEFINITELY the deficiency.  There were waaaay too many people taking plays off. I foresee pursuit drills. C'mon guys, we're better than that.

Pursuit drills.....I love it!

VERY impressed with the comments made by the FC coach during the post game press  conference. Easy to see how they played so hard and intense.

Boy, I wish I were in that locker room at half.  I hope there are some pissed off players and coaches.  We need fire.  We need Coach Bu to throw some clipboards and scream (old school, late 90's reference).

I once saw a basketball coach smash a clipboard to the floor, a piece flew off and hit a team manager in the cheek, opening a small cut.  Without missing a beat, he turned back to his team and screamed, "Now look what you made me do!"

And you guys think you deserved a #1 Seed. "You're not Penske material."

Franklin was fun to watch. I wonder if this was typical of all their games this season. At half, I ddn't have the feeling that a UWW win was a foregone conclusion. Neither team had any rushing game in the first.

^ That was a tough game, retagent. The FC coach said at the post game press conference that their game plan was to pack the box with 8, always having someone on the outside to keep Coppage from being able to bust outside. They did a really good job of doing just that. It seemed FC had more energy than the Warhawks. They didn't know that Brekke would start at QB, but he said it didn't matter. They were trying to stop the run. Who would've thought Brekke could throw for 4 TD's w/o a turnover? Coppage still rushed for over 160 yards, so they were able to find a few holes. But, the going was tough, as tough as it was all year.

Hopefully, this was a good wake-up call.

It shows that the good team can win when they do not play their best. Brekke could throw the ball. He could give Blanchard a run for the starting job next year. Blanchard looks to be a better runner, which, IMO, gives him the edge though.

I was quite surprised at the athleticism of Franklin. They really played the run well in the 1st half. Coppage broke a couple in the second. I was a little surprised they didn't use Stanley more, and maybe Anderson as well. I guess that shows why I am not the coach. Leipold obviously knows that sooner or later, Coppage will break.

What makes you think this based on the performace of Blanchard's entire year vs Brekke's one game??

Not the ideal first half, but as was just said, winning 52-21 on a day when you came out very slow isn't all that bad.

You won the game by a wide margin on an off day. You get the W AND the coaching staff gets to legitimately hound the players all week about their effort and not looking past anyone. Really kinda ideal...provided of course your QB is able to bounce back.

[He showed poise in the pocket. His passes were crisp and accurate. He didn't throw any up for grabs. This was the first game he started (I think) and he has not been under that pressure before. He never seemed to get rattled, even when the start was not that good, and the running game was not doing well enough to rely on. The defense was not playing well, so he knew he had to put points on the board, and he did. Other than that. Nothing.

Welcome to the jungle Trine. It's been a while since our last meeting. Since we last met you've changed your name, your conference, your attitude, and reversed your win-loss record.  Besides that, what else is new?

Retagent,

The way Franklin played today, how many teams in the country do YOU think beats them by 31 with their backup quarterback?  Huh?  ;)
