I was wondering if UWW is getting scared that they may have to play an away game?

no

I was just thinking, as good as the Franklin game was, it would have been even closer if a couple receivers hadn't dropped passes when they were in the open. Think what 'COULD OF" been.

I know, the joy you could have experienced!  Franklin could have had two more first downs and still lost by 31. Or maybe they got first downs anyway, rendering the drops irrelevant.  And Retagent, the correct grammar is "COULD HAVE". (Yes, I know that's why you did it, but it's just fun to correct you wherever I can). :)

Probably.  Although the fact that the last time they lost an away Division 3 football game (not counting Salem, since it's a neutral field) was in 2004 may give them some comfort  ;D

Sakman 1111

During the tournament....chartered planes, nice hotels. and good food supplied by the NCAA for away games. No school while on the road and let's face it a thousand fans or so really doesn't matter that much for home games. I remember when we started this 5 years ago when are players said they loved playing on the road.....I doubt that has changed......

I just finished re-watching the game...Franklin might have dropped 4 out of 70 passes. Probably rather standard for that many attempts. UWW had 3 or 4 illegal motion penalties - take those away and who knows, they might have scored 60 or 65 points, not 52!!  ;)

I didn't think so in that bracket.     ::)

Backtrack about 20 pages but I think Linfield fans know that UW-Whitewater has played a good number of away games on this run. (Especially compared to Mount Union, which has played zero this millennium.)

Ya...they played a big game at the CatDome....heck of a game but I didn't like the outcome.....   :'(

Oh...and I forgot they played a huge game at Willamette when Willamette had a fantastic team. I saw the=at game and met a few of the Whitewater fans who had made it out....

Alas, no games AT a CCIW school - YET! ;)

(And, yes, I'm very familiar with the expression "Be careful what you wish for". :D  But, if they both make it, better Naperville than Whitewater.  Whether or not it is enough better, we may see.) 8-)

Hey now, don't pull Mount into this.  Actually the last 7 losses for UMU have been at Home or at Neutral Sites.  Their last Away loss was in 1994 to Albion.  The abundance of Home playoff games may have skewed the numbers a bit.  ;)

You mean they haven't grown a pair - YET?  ;)

btw, BoBo and family are safe and sound...you might've heard about the afternoon (Korea time) artillery fired courtesy the DPRK at the South Korean island in the Yellow Sea (or West Sea as it is called in Korea). It was a couple hundred KM to our west; a few ROK Marines dead and a small number injured, along with a couple civilians. Kim Jong-il seems to be looking for a little attention. These kinds of actions from the north have become so commonplace, that while we were out at dinner tonight, the TV in the restaurant was showing non-stop coverage, but no one paying close attention to it. Go figure...

Congrats to the Warhawks for doing what they had to do and moving on to face Trine.  UWW has a great team!  Congrats to the Grizzlies on a fine season and for playing hard at UWW.  It was a shame that we had to meet in the first round.  Now you can see why d3football.com voted the Franklin tailgate the "Best D3 Tailgate in the Nation"!  :)

A regular season game would benefit both schools but would be tough for the Grizzlies since they have already scheduled Mt. Union for a home & home.  :o

Trine is very similar to Franklin.  The Thunder edged Franklin at Trine in 2008 and the Grizzlies returned the favor at home in 2009 (Trine's last regular season loss).  Watt and Ray are similar QBs.  Ray is a more accurate passer but Watt is a more dangerous runner.

Since the Warhawk defense held Ray well below his seasonal completion percentage, sacked him 6 times, and intercepted him 3 times, hopefully they can have similar success against the Trine QB...Warhawk run defense is stronger than their pass defense, IMO.   ;)

Ok Bobo........I have wanted to ask this before (and possibly someone already did?)..

You are the "resident" UWW expert, and from SO FAR away.  How about letting us posters know a little bit about the who/what/how you ended up "way over there".  I think it would be interesting, and informative reading for those of us that are blessed with your intelligent insight (even if you are a UWW honk).   ;)
