Coppage is just unreal: 38 carries for 304 yards and 3 TDs!

He was Houdini-like on a lot of plays in the second half. I think his total was (only) 300. Gained 304, but had 4 minus yards.

although I will openly admit our D did not play well against the pass this game, I can't wait for someone to come on the board and ask what is wrong with UWW...

for having our backup QB in and playing two teams in a row that attack our biggest weakness, not only on defense, but on our entire team...its good to see the teams come out of these two games with wins...I look for the Hawks to be extremely focused on the road next weekend and cut down on the penalties and mental mistakes...

do we know which conference will be reffing our game next weekend?

Barber Greene

It was really two games in one wasn't it?  A track meet in the first half and a ball possession/field position game in the second half. Both teams made great defensive adjustments at half time to slow down the passing game.  The difference was the Hawks ability to run the ball with Coppage.

Not to mention not having guard Matt Weber available because he was sick. Jimmy Norris came in and performed very well helping to open lanes for Coppage. Warhawks have a lot of quality depth.

Pressure on the Watt forces an intentional grounding penalty. He was sacked and threw it to no one on his way falling back. But they picked up the flag.
Let's just say, we aren't getting any calls.  Picking up the flag was bogus!  At last we are up by 2 possessions, maybe I will start to breathe.

I would expect that out of a CCIW crew... but whatever, we're still undefeated.

Did you guys have a CCIW crew today?   Is that all randomly done for the playoffs?

I havent been reading your boards...is your QB done for the year?

If the weather doesnt cooperate, there are plenty of places to have an early lunch and a beer within a 4 minute walk of NCC's stadium.

^ The warhawk radio guys said Blanchard looked pretty good in warm-ups today. Sounds like he could've played today, if needed. I think it would be likely he returns next week. Lee Brekke has played well in starting his first two games of his college career.

Yeah. All I had to do was copy his name to google and Augustana, Milikin, Carthage, Wheaton etc. started popping up. Then I said "Oh, just as suspected."

By the way, what are some of the best places to eat and drink in Naperville?

There is Features, Jimmys, Black Finn, Bar Louie, to name a few places to have a beer before or after the game.  A few steakhouses and a Mongolian Barbecue for dinner.

You could say the Warhawk defense won this game despite the bad (for their standands) first half performance. Pretty much shut down the Trine offense in the 2nd half.

Trine's 2nd half possessions:

Punt
TD - followed INT to the UWW 1
Interception, Punt, Punt, Punt, Fumble

That was after a first half that saw this:

Punt, FG, TD, TD, TD, end of half

I thought Trine's running out the clock at the end of the half was a missed opportunity. They had the ball at their 27 with :47 left. They had just scored 3 consecutive TD's and the Warhawk defense was reeling. They didn't even try to get into FG range. They had time, but wasted it, IMO.

Do you hear that...Cannon man has been banned from the hill by the NCAA...KABOOM!!

The NCAA official at the game was from Knox and he decided that the rule meant you couldn't use an artificial noisemaker that could be heard in the stadium as opposed to the rule interpretation that the noisemaker could not be inthe stadium which every other NCAA official for three years had said the rule meant.

Watt running for his life, gto to the three and made a pitch to the WR near the sidelines for a TD.

Defense not looking good...Trine looking good on offense.
Bad call on TD, QB past the line of scrimmage when he pitched.

I saw the replay.  The pitch was backwards and therefore a lateral. Legal

What a run by Coppage for a TD. Stopped cold in the backfield for a loss, he broke loose took it up the middle, was hit again about the 3. He proceeded to carry 3 Trine players into the endzone.

UWW 45 Trine 31

Incredible, that was as good of a run as you will see at any level of NCAA football.

^ nevermind  ;)

Thanks 413 for that correction!!  ;)
Well, I don't want to be the only one around here with senior moments ;D

That was wayyyyyy tooooo closeeee for 3 quarters! Trine played us really tough but as we have said, sticking for 4 quarters is hard against us. Hope we can start fast and finish hard next week,  The Cards will give us all we can handle, I suspect.
We will be at that game as it is virtually in my backyard, a 45 minute drive.   Congrats Hawks.  You boys need to quit scaring me like this.................

Remember what they say.  Those things which do not kill you only make you stronger.  Trine was good team that could have beaten any team in our league.  Yet we found a way to beat them.
