I was disappointed Matt McColloch didn't make one of the three teams.  His stats are better than Heard's who was on the second team.

Yeah, it is what it is. They're making an effort to keep every team involved and I understand that. We know that we have some very good players that didn't make the list.

To all of the Warhawk Football players that felt that they should have made all-conference or all-region: Don't worry we see you. You have plenty of love and appreciation for your efforts from everyone in Warhawk Country. We don't accomplish anything like what we've been able to do without having people like you.My hat is off to you!

As of Monday, UWL begins official search for football coach; search and screen committee to make first review of candidates Jan. 10...

I'm interested to see who applies. Are there any rumored candidates, who might be front runners for the job?

I know that they "have" to make the openning available to the public, but I'm sure they have a few people in mind already.

emma, no meters on the streets.  the charge is high and it is to discourage the college kids from tailgating and leaving a mess all over the place.  thus it has killed the tailgating.  when my son first went to wesley in 04 the field was packed, if you didnt get there by 10 - 1030 for the 100 start you didnt get in.  obviously now you can show up 5 minutes before the game and park there.  shame to since we had some good times before and after the games.  i was at uww in 06 and we were having fun watching all the uww peeps tailgating in 10 degrees.  we liked it because we could get a case of beer and leave it in the trunk of the rental and not need a cooler.  one of the better 24 hour trips i have taken, flew out at 6 est and was in uww parking lot at 1015 your time.  15 minute delay was waiting for the beer distributor to open next to the mcdonalds near campus.

$20 to park in the tailgate lot?  And for security?  It's like never having left Chicago.  They probably have meters on the streets too.

You better hope it isn't "Pumpkin Chunkin" weekend. THE largest "sporting event" in Delaware
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I think it's actually Punkin Chunkin (married a Delawarean).  I'd love to see that but haven't made it yet. :)

Regional Teams have just been released.

Glad to see the WIAC is well represented in the West
I guess if you are injured and do not play in the playoffs that you basically fall of the face of the earth :P
Why didn't Matt Blanchard get any consideration at the QB position?   Until injured he was the 3rd ranked QB in the nation in passing efficiency.   This makes no sense to me at all. ???

He did get consideration. He just didn't get selected.

On Nate Heard -- it's hard to measure cornerbacks solely based on stats. You could be a great corner, in fact, an NFL cornerback, and have nothing to show for it because teams don't throw to your side. Not wanting to make the mistake we made with Tony Beckham, we asked all Division III coaches who were the players they thought were the best cover corners they saw, and Heard's name came up more than once. I think it's only reasonable to ask so that we aren't solely going on numbers.

That makes sense.  Heard's a good player.

Love the Napoleon Dynamite (edited) quote!

(To finish it off ...)

Did you shoot any?
Yes, like 52 of 'em! They kept trying to attack my cousins, what the heck would you do in a situation like that?
What kind of weapon did you use?
A freakin' Warhawk, what do you think?   ;)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Kind of a direct cryptic response, but I guess in your position you can not really say why certain decisions were made.  I am just a fan who thought that he had a significantly better year than at minimum the 3rd team QB Nate Wara.  After all Blanchard was 1st Team all WIAC  QB   Just my opinion.

All this chatter about a rematch in two weeks and everyone seems to be forgetting that UWW has a game this weekend in Dover, I hope the UWW players are taking Wesley so lightly~!!!! ;DI am sure the WW fans will get to know the name Mays by Saturday night. He is number 90 but you can't see his number because it has been torn off by every other lineman Wesley has played trying to stop him..Not forgetting the rest of the Top rated Wesley D

WarhawkDad response:  There is absolutely no chance UWW is taking the Wolverines lightly.  Since getting a second seed in the north region, the team has had a completely focused approach and frankly a slight bit of a chip on their collective shoulders.   Our players and coaches take each day, each practice, each challenge one at a time.  They intensely prepare for each new team and each aspect of that team.  Again, having talked to several players on Tuesday evening, they are obviously totally concentrating on Wesley.  They embrace the challenge of facing the number 1 seed in the country, knowing that they have to defeat Wesley to continue the tradition of Warhawk Football.

WarhawkDad, you're right, the WIAC coaches had it right. He was hands down the best QB in the WIAC this year - not even close. Matt had a terrific year leading the #1 ranked team. My guess is those who made the decision looked at the playoffs unfolding and saw how the Warhawks have advanced without missing a beat with Brekke & must've figured UWW could put anybody in there (you or I perhaps) and they would, in simple terms, just continue winning. So, in other words, it was the success of the Warhawks, and the fact that they are so loaded on offense, that IMO prevented Blanchard from being more highly considered.  ;)

Anyone else remember this play from I believe the beginning of the 06 game? UWW completely fools the entire Wesley defense, everyone goes to the left, except for Jacobs who hides the ball perfectly on his hip and runs into the right side of the south endzone. He really could have walked in, nobody else was within 20 yards of him.

Pat Coleman

I understand that and we consider the conference selections as much as possible. But often conference teams take into account solely conference stats, often they are slanted toward the champions, etc. We recognize all games, obviously, and try to somewhat lessen the slant toward the champion but we're aware that we also tend in the same direction. After all, the team is champion for a reason.

At least the WIAC isn't like the NWC, which put three quarterbacks on the first team. Three running backs, two receivers, a tight end and six linemen is a little excessive but not as bad.

Just to fill in some blanks about the $20 fee for parking. When Wesley changed Presidents a few years ago the student body decided that all rules that had been in place no longer exsisted. The student body decided to stay in the lot during the game and they caused damage to vehicles and it was one druinken mess. at the time the fee was 5 dollars. The following week things changed and the people who had been tailgating for years were more or less the ones who suffered the loss of the lot.
