I'm wondering if Wesley will have much of a home field advantage. Seems like they have been drawing fewer than 1,000 for the playoff games and the field is Field Turf (just like Whitewater).  The weather is going to be perfect-46 degrees, no rain, and light winds.

This is as close to playing on a neutral field as you can get.

No excuses for either team.

I understand that and we consider the conference selections as much as possible. But often conference teams take into account solely conference stats, often they are slanted toward the champions, etc. We recognize all games, obviously, and try to somewhat lessen the slant toward the champion but we're aware that we also tend in the same direction. After all, the team is champion for a reason.

At least the WIAC isn't like the NWC, which put three quarterbacks on the first team. Three running backs, two receivers, a tight end and six linemen is a little excessive but not as bad.

After all Blanchard was 1st Team all WIAC  QB   Just my opinion.

Thanks for the response.  That is one of the things (beyond your football knowledge) I really respect about you.  You answer questions and provide insight .  I do agree with you that I much prefer having just one at each position on at least the first team.  I can see loosening up as you get to the third team or honorable mention.  Thanks for the response.   :)

So are those players mentioned as criminals being allowed to play saturday?  I think that's a little unfair for criminals to play since this isn't the NFL now.
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Geez Conrad, kind of an immature statement.  I actually think what UWW did in giving Booker Stanley a second chance is what society is all about.  I was at first apprehensive, but after watching his behavior all season and hearing about the type of teammate he is, I applaud our coaches and our athletic director for making what had to be a tough decision.  Think about it, if he had turned into a jerk, disrupted team chemistry and instead of contributing to it, they would have been roundly criticized and second guessed forever.

I certainly hope the young men that made the mistakes they did at Wesley, learn from them and that they two can refocus on academics and whatever is left of the athletic careers.

As I always tell my kids, take the high road.

ummmm.....that phrase doesn't apply in this situation. We're giving a guy a second chance that already paid his debt to society.

ummmmmmm....... so will those kids. And maybe someday, if they grow up and deserve it, they will get a second chance too.

yes, i don't doubt that...they will get a second chance if those they chose to come back (maybe not at Wesley). but whitewater hasn't (in recent memory at least) kicked a player off it's team for crimal activity...as your idiom suggests.

And I never said that they shouldn't give a Stanley a second chance, Warhawk93's statement infers that they shouldn't have. The immature statement was his. I was merely trying point out that it was hypocritical.

From what I've read, he's been a model citizen and good teammate. Good for him!

Answer the poll question!

What "has to happen" for UW-W to win Saturday?

I would also point out that Booker wanted to join the team last year but Coach Leipold told him he would have to prove himself and that he was serious about getting an education first and then they could talk about him joining the team.  He's done everything that has been asked of him.

People make mistakes.  Sometimes they're serious ones and they have to pay the price for their decisions.  Stanley did that and now he's proving that you can turn your live around, get back on track and be a productive member of society.  I, like Warhawkdad, hope the Wesley players can do the same thing.

Agreed +1, I believe I alluded to most of those points.

34-17 Warhawks. That's my prediction, we'll see how it holds up.
2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 NCAA Division 3 Champions.
2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 WIAC Champions.

WarhawkDad

Everyone is talking statistics, playing conditions, etc.   But after one more thorough look, I actually believe that the D3football staff has hit the nail on the head.  The turnover/takeaway issue appears to be huge.  UWW is 3rd in the nation in takeaway margin.  Wesley is 133rd. They have put the ball on the ground 17 times this season and given up 13 interceptions, for 30 total turnovers.   UWW conversely does not give up the ball at that rate with only 9 turnovers all season.  This includes playing against NCC.

So nice job to the D3football guys on the frontpage article today.
