Yeah -- I mean, no way that Wesley at home is better than Trine on the road. Come on! :)

Gotta go with 413 on this one Pat.  Wesley has done nothing at this level to show they could score 34 tomorrow. I'll go back farther than necessary to support the opinion:

2005 Wesley scored 6 in semi-finals. (UW-W)
2006 Wesley scored7 in semi-finals. (UW-W)
2007 Wesley scored 10 in quarterfinals. (UMHB)
2008 Wesley scored 14 in second round. (UMHB)
2009 Wesley scored 7 in semi-finals. (Mount Union)
2010 Wesley scored 19 in quarter-finals. (UMHB)

UMHB is the 102nd ranked defense in the country. UW-W is the 7th.  In terms of scoring defense, UMHB is 44th, UW-W is 6th.

The Wolverines simply don't put up 34 against the "big boys".  And they won't tomorrow.  Stick to your guns 413! UW-W will prove you right tomorrow!  ;)

I sooooo love it when you boys have my back!    :-* :-* :-* :-*

NO WAY they hang 34 on us!  My defense will not let me down!!!  ;)

bleedpurple, i love the numbers all are true, but please answer this question about the uww offense, why did they only have 7 points against ncc in the 4th quarter?

Duh, because they were hiding their true capabilities for the Stagg.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Dats right HS Coach.   :D

I'll go out on another limb here.  Not only do I believe we will come to realize Trine had a better offense than Wesley, I  believe we will also come to realize NCC had a better defense.

Good one, but I gotta stick up for my conference here.  UWW had only 7 points after three quarters because NCC had a DANGED good defense.  Alas, they were finally let down by the offense (or the UWW defense finally got their takeaway mojo going; take your pick).  Even the '85 Bears would have eventually melted if the other team continually got the ball deep in your own territory! :(

MasterJedi

Prediction is still 45-14 UWW. Wesley is in for a shock as they face the best team they have seen all year and their lines collapse.

wesleydad

master, you have just proven you have no clue.  45 is so over the top it is laughable.  the most they have given up is 28 and that is a game in which they scored over 60.  you uww people are jokes with your arrogance.

Nice change of subject.  NCC has one of the best defenses in the country. In fact, it is probably the best defense I've seen in  the 6 year run UW-W has had through the playoffs.  They are good and they played very well.  But I don't think you want to take this discussion too far. The bottom line is still playing 60 minutes of football.

Over 60 minutes last week:

UW-W scored 20 points against the #3 ranked defense in the country.
Wesley scored 19 points against the #102 ranked defense in  the country.

Perhaps the better question is, why did Wesley score so few points against such a low ranked defense? I mean it's not like they are Salisbury (LOL LOL LOL  ;D) or something.

wesleydad

bleedpurple, answer the question.  does uww score anymore if there are no turnovers.  stop the game playing, you guys keep chirping about scoring 30 + points, yet you only had 7 in the 4th and scored of turnovers.  seems like something is missing to me.  we did wesley only score 19, they didnt finish, simple as that.  you got gifts scores, we likely wouldnt even be having this discussion if not for the turnovers.

bleedpurple

So now the best play a defense makes, a turnover, is a gift! What, do you believe turnovers are accidents? They are forced by great defenses. If that philosophy permeates the Wesley program, it would certainly explain why they have turned the ball over 30 times this year!

MasterJedi

After tomorrow we shall see that:

1. Wesley does not truely have the number 1 defense in the country.
2. Their offense isn't as good as they think it is.

As others have said I don't see anything different about Wesley to think they can play good enough to defeat UWW (or UMU for that matter). They only have played against 4 teams all season that could have beaten them (Del Val, Salisbury, Montclair State and UMHB), none of which are as good as UWW>

Except:

The most points Wesley allowed in 2006 was 21 and UW-W scored 44.
And the most points Wesley allowed in 2005 was 26 and UMHB scored 36 and UW-W scored 58.

So excuse UW-W fans if they aren't real impressed with your "most they have given up" statistic.
