I think I want the Packers to win today.  I am ready to shoot the TV with all the hype around this game.  I do not think I could take the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl.  The media gets so stupid around sports.  When the Blackhawks had their victory parade, they all dutifully reported that 2 million people attended - a number a policemen later said he pulled out of his ass.  A quarter of the Chicago area's population did not attend the parade.  There were a lot of people - probably over 200,000.  But not a million or two.  You could not fit that many people in that area.  But rather than reporting, the media becomes part of the hype.  And I assume it is just as bad - if not worse - in Wisconsin.

That said, one nice  story in the NY Times.  It is about John Siegal and Ed Frutig - now both 92.  They are the last two men alive who played in the only other Bear-Packer playoff game in 1941.  Most stories about that game make note that it was a week after the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Most overlook the fact that most of the participants in that game hung up their cleats and joined the military shortly afterwards.

Getting back to the ridiculous, get your Bear or Packer wedding dresses!!!!!

Most lop-sided down-to-the-wire game I've seen in a while!

The Pack absolutely dominated the game, yet once a third-string qb I'd never heard of came in for the Bears, I daresay that any cheesehead who wasn't nervous right up to the final interception is a liar! ;D

My guesses: Todd Collins in finished (unless he brings in a lot to the locker room - I don't really follow da Bears).  Caleb Hanie (despite the 2 INTs) is a solid #2 (and Cutler better watch his back :D).  Hanie was BY FAR the best Bear qb today.

413,

Sorry about your Bears I did not see much of the game, but what I did see was a "very strong PACK defense" You are right Defense wins Championhsips and that could be the difference against Pittsburgh. +k :)

Agree!  Bears did not have the game they needed to have, (due in large part to the Pack,) and the Pack looked stellar and not only did we only lose by 7, we actually had a real shot to tie or win in the final minutes.  ??? Collins better be history as most Bears fans have known for some time that Hanie is an untapped talent. Afraid Cutler will take some heat from the fans/media about whether he could have gone back in or not. It would not have mattered.  The better team won yesterday.   But I am off topic.
A BIG congrats to my wonderful Wiscy friends on the BIG win yesterday!  I really am so happy for all of you guys and am happy to jump on the Green and Gold bandwagon for the next 2 weeks!  My love for so many Cheeseheads far outweighs my hate for the pack. In fact, it still feels like I have a dog in the fight, kind of..............     ;)    Congrats again!   Now go and win it all!!!!!

Thanks, 68! The 2010 Bears were definitely over achievers and have nothing to hang their heads for.   Being in the final four was something many of us did not expect and it gave the fans of both programs a great week of football and fun!

Todd Collins has made a career out of being a Backup QB.  I'm sure he'll catch on somewhere if the Bears release him.  I think there was an article in SI or ESPN Mag this past year about him.

The bigger question IMHO, is about Culter for next year! :-\

It looks like whitewater fans can stop worrying about Coach Leipold leaving as  he has lost out on the head job at Gardner Webb. This came from footballscoop.com this morning.
Gardner-Webb: We have confirmed that Ron Dickerson Jr. accepted the head coaching job at Gardner-Webb.

I honestly don't blame Lance for looking at other jobs. Although I was hoping he would be like his two college coaches and be a l;ifetime warhawk. Although when in your first four years as a head coach you go to four straight national championships. You become a wanted coach. So in a way thats good for him. Although bad for the program as other WIAC schools can use that fact against them in "recruiting" potential student athletes.

As far as being inured??? b/c his job as starting QB is not going to be in question.
