Wow, slow day at the office wc11?  ;) Is this like your idea of spelunking without leaving your home? If you were really diligent, you would find an archived story about her in jsonline.com from a couple years ago explaining how she got the name - not as sinister as you think!! Are you doing research for Gregg Easterbrook or your next Stagg Bowl video?

Kehres making the rounds of WIAC schools...was the Wartburg coach also a finalist at UWRF? Curious about the Western Michigan assistant. On the surface, not the high impact list I was expecting out of La Crosse.

I see on the WMU website that Moreland is from Milwaukee.

Actually, this came across my twitter feed and I saw the uww.edu extension so I took a look.  Sometimes material just lands on your lap.

Neither.  With a little Wildcat around the house I have to choose my projects more carefully and I decided to put together a little video for the Linfield Athletics website featuring your favorite non-UWW team.  Go give it a spin: Linfield Sports

SI jinx should be a wash this time.
Aaron Rodgers is on the cover of SI's midwest region edition and the Steelers' outside linebacker, James Harrison, is also featured on the cover of another region edition of the magazine.

Well they got 2 guys on it, and we have one. I think we'll be okay. The Packers are destin for greatness especioall wit people like
FInely,Grant, Tausher, and Barnett on IR for all or most of the season. No matter what anyone says the Packers are nto at 100% without those four players especially Finely who helped the packers in the passing game.

Mr. Ypsi

The NFL decided to give Julius Peppers essentially a 'free pass' for trying to decapitate Aaron Rodgers.  A 'chump change' $10,000 fine.  (I still can't believe Julius actually tried to protest getting flagged at all! :o)

That hit deserved at least $50,000 AND a suspension.

I don't think that is official...yet, since the NFL doesn't announce fines until Friday each week. I read where the 10 Grand was a rumor from a friend of Peppers with "knowledge" of the situation. Do you have a link quoting the NFL on that? Should have been at least $25,000 - rather intentional, dangerous, and to me, looked like an obvious attempt to knock A-Rod out of the game (and the SB).

No, just an article (SI.com?) I read.  I didn't read it all that carefully. :-[

Yes, Wartburg's Detwiler was a finalist at UWRF.  He is a UWP grad.

I believe it was the right call after seeing the hit in slow motion but I did not see intent to do harm.   Here is a picture of the hit showing Peppers had Rogers wrapped up around the numbers, helmet to the side with his face mask making contact at his shoulder, catching him under the chin.  There was helmet to helmet, unfortunately, (which is why it was a good call,) but to say it was an, "obvious attempt to knock Rogers out of the game," is looking through gold and green glasses, IMHO, BoBo. He didn't aim for the head and hitting the numbers and wrapping up use to be the textbook way of making a tackle.  It seems the NFL agrees with me as reflected in the fine amount.  Just my $.02 on it.  Was going to stay out of it but it has been a rather brutal week around here listening to my favorite sports talk radio stations.  The loss was bad enough but all the collateral damage for the Bears is salt in the wound for this Bears fan.   :'(   Glad it is over and some of us are  back on the same team again!  GO  WARHAWKS!   ;)

If I were one of the players fined $50000 or $75000 earlier in the season I'd be calling the commissioner's office and asking why my hit cost me five to seven and half times more than Peppers' cost him.  I don't think Peppers intended to harm Rodgers or that his hit was intentional but I don't think several of the other players fined earlier in the season meant it either and their penalty was significantly more severe.  This just doesn't seem consistant at all.

I agree. The hit was a good call and should have been fined, per the rule, but not suspended. I hate the turn that the league is taking to protect their pocketbooks under the disguise of "player safety". This rule is a crock and needs to at the very least be changed. It's amazing to me some of the fines that have been levied against defensive players but people like Hines Ward have escaped much of the league imposed penalties.

It's not consistent and that's why it sucks. These fines are thrown around arbitrarily and is especially unfair because you will be fined less depending on who you hit.
