I was in madison for the  pro day and Lane did 28 reps at 225, and his second run at the 40 yard was a 4.39. He was very impressive and seemed to catch the interest in the scouts that were there. He looked good in all his position drills as well. Still I do agree that he will not be drafted but I think if he gets picked up as a free agent he has a good shot at making a team. Best of luck to him and his future endeavors, I am interested to se how cecil will improve at his pro day on the 16th.

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering about the comment highlighted. I assume you mean the active roster, not a practice team? Considering the odds, why do you feel he has a good shot at making a team?

That's McMurry, and they're moving FROM d3 TO d2.  Despite their longstanding 'Indians' nickname (agreed to by all relevant tribes/nations), the 'powers-that-be' have decreed that they must change their 'logo'.

I think lane has a good chance for a number of reasons, 1 being all his times and numbers at the pro day would have been number 1 or 2 at the NFL combine in indy for all strong safety's. Also he looked very good doing the safety drill at the pro day it looks like he could convert back to safety well. Another thing that he has going for him that Justin beaver didn't is he played all special teams and was dominate especially kick off. If lane is going to make a team it will be through special teams were as Beaver if he was going to make a team it was going to be as a running back or nothing at all.

Fair enough wwfan99.  You're right, the fact that he is a defender and the fact that he has more NFL- typical physical size than Beaver would be to his advantage, as well. It's nice to have someone to root for. I wonder how the prospect for no-NFL season due to the labor issues will affect guys on the bubble like LO. How these guys are going to make some cash with the lock-out here is going to be interesting. How many of them can actually afford to hold-out long enough for the ego's on both side to reach a CBA? We could be in for a long court battle.
