Veteran sports columnist Gery Woefel of the Racine Journal Times had the following on Olson a (Racine Horlick grad) (Olson portion of column is about halfway down)

Is it Olsen or Olson? (Is it tomāto or tomӑto?) Did the Badger hoopsters have that ugly game vs Purdue or Penn State? It's been a while since I've seen this many errors in a newspaper article!!  ;)

The article stats slighty different numbers than were previously reported by bleedpurple on 3/10 and by wwfan99 but still, very impressive.

Very fast and very strong for a guy at 205lbs.

Mr. Goulet - outstanding Pro Day for Wenger. I hope his height doesn't prevent an NFL team to give him a free agent contract.

As far as UW-Whitewater's Lane Olson is concerned. He also caught the eyes of NFL scouts at the UW Pro Day.  Lane's numbers actually were on par, or better, than the Wisconsin Badger players participating in the 3/10 Pro Day.

I didn't realize that Olson was only 5'9. He put up extremely impressive numbers. At the very least he should get invited to a few camps (assuming the NFL gets there crap together and they have camps this offseason).

oshfb,

I know UWO has many returning starters this fall, Will we see any new stars in Alliance for the Raider's first game? :-\

Unfortunately I'm out of the loop Raider. It sucks getting old, ha. I know where they need to find replacements and I like to think that there will be someone very ready to fill in where needed. As for a breakout season for someone though, I'm hoping they find one in the receiving corps.

When does spring ball start for the WIAC?

Congrats to the "voice" - we should now refer to him as the "Hall of Fame voice" after receiving the WFCA Citation Award.   :)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

CSIII ran a 4.53 at the combine.  But I think he was still recovering from a hamstring injury he got at the Shrine Bowl.

MTU is hosting a Pro day on 3/16/11, we'll see what Shorts runs then.

Shorts was a Top Performer at WR for these "events" at the Combine:
Bench:  21 Reps - 3rd
3 Cone:  6.50 - 4th
20 Yard Shuffle:  4.07 - 5th

Other Results (from NFLdraftscout.com):
40 Yard Dash:  4.50
20 Yard Dash:  2.54
10 Yard Dash:  1.59
Vert:  34 1/2"
Broad:  9'6"

40 Yard Dash before Combine: 4.34 - 4.43 - 4.54

According to a league Source, Cecil Ran a 4.34 and a 4.41 40 at his Pro Day:

NationalFootballPost

Stop the presses, Dad...your source said he ran 4.35, not 4.34. Didn't think anybody would check, did you?  ;)
A 40 yard sprint between CSIII and Lane Olson would be basically a dead heat. Who'd a thought that was possible?

I did.  I watched Lane cover Cecil at the 2009 Stagg Bowl on the last two series.  Anyone else remember the great defensive play he made?   :D

So I take it you're Lane's dad?  I would probably do the same.  But if in your best delusional day, you think he can run with Cecil......I will just say WOW!  And people say Mount fans are myopic.

Hey....I hope the kid gets a chance, and makes the most out of it.  We Mount people LOVE when  D-III player get a shot.  The difference is.......at the end of the day......Cecil gets drafted.....Lane does not.

As an example....we still claim London Fletcher as one of our own....even though the last time he played against Mount he was kicked out for spitting on a Mount player.

badgerwarhawk

Lane's ability to run with Cecil isn't delusional.  We've seen it happen and his 40 times prove he can.  None of us here think he'll be drafted.  But the reason won't be because he can't run with Cecil.

During the Stagg Bowls I think Lane took good angles to get to Shorts, rather than just chasing him down in open field, which would be very difficult to do.

However, their 40 times are a lot closer than I would have guessed.

I agree with BW, I doubt Lane will get drafted, but Shorts will.
