Thanks, KS, I've been anxiously waiting for it to come out.  In fact I was just thinking about checking for it today but hadn't got around to it yet.

New lights at the Perk.   After the collapse of a light tower in a wind storm last year the state has instructed the university to replace all of the towers.  So it'll be a tad brighter at the Perk next year.

In the 2009 stagg bowl lane covered cecil man to man more than once and made plays, I agree that Lane could very well run with cecil as well. Cecil ran a 4.53 at the combine and yes a 4.35 and a 4.41 at his pro day were lane ran a 4.39 and a 4.41 at his pro day. Pretty sure that would pretty much be a head to head race in my opinion. Yes cecil will get drafted and Lane will most likely not but there are plenty of free agents that become big time players at the next level. I believe they both have a good chance of making a team and wish the best of luck to both.

I hope they both get a real shot. On Cecil, it is not just his 40 yd speed, it is his acceleration on the routes that is key. Pierre Garcon has that too, one of the reasons why he made it in the NFL.  :)

CSIII ran a 4.53 at the combine.  But I think he was still recovering from a hamstring injury he got at the Shrine Bowl.

MTU is hosting a Pro day on 3/16/11, we'll see what Shorts runs then.

Shorts was a Top Performer at WR for these "events" at the Combine:
Bench:  21 Reps - 3rd
3 Cone:  6.50 - 4th
20 Yard Shuffle:  4.07 - 5th

Other Results (from NFLdraftscout.com):
40 Yard Dash:  4.50
20 Yard Dash:  2.54
10 Yard Dash:  1.59
Vert:  34 1/2"
Broad:  9'6"

40 Yard Dash before Combine: 4.34 - 4.43 - 4.54

According to a league Source, Cecil Ran a 4.34 and a 4.41 40 at his Pro Day:

NationalFootballPost

Stop the presses, Dad...your source said he ran 4.35, not 4.34. Didn't think anybody would check, did you?  ;)
A 40 yard sprint between CSIII and Lane Olson would be basically a dead heat. Who'd a thought that was possible?

I did.  I watched Lane cover Cecil at the 2009 Stagg Bowl on the last two series.  Anyone else remember the great defensive play he made?   :D

So I take it you're Lane's dad?  I would probably do the same.  But if in your best delusional day, you think he can run with Cecil......I will just say WOW!  And people say Mount fans are myopic.

Hey....I hope the kid gets a chance, and makes the most out of it.  We Mount people LOVE when  D-III player get a shot.  The difference is.......at the end of the day......Cecil gets drafted.....Lane does not.

As an example....we still claim London Fletcher as one of our own....even though the last time he played against Mount he was kicked out for spitting on a Mount player.

WarhawkDad isn't Lane's dad, Skunks SK, just for the record.  I think it is very impressive that Lane, a LB, has done enough in his 40 times, (especially given his position,)  and pro day that we can even have a discussion regarding whether he can hang with a possible NFL caliber WR from Mount!  THAT in and of itself is something.  Converting from LB to Safety for the pros would not be an easy task but his 40 times are impressive for any NFL prospect.   The best of luck to Lane and Cecil!  Hope they both make some noise next month.  It is a shame that the NFL is in the middle of a pi$$ing contest though for any player coming out of college.  What do you guys think about the players union asking the guys to not attend the draft!  What a terrible position to be put in.  Imagine having dreamed all your life about having your name read and walking across the stage to accept that NFL jersey and then to have this situation await you.  Is it a tough call or does the player have no choice but to boycott the festivities?

Would probably put an undeserved label on any guy that decided to attend the draft after being invited by the NFL and be recognized publicly when their name is called. I'm sure it would stick with them for some time. That first training camp might be an extra special experience! However, with many of them allowing vanity to cloud their wits, most of the elite 1st round choices these days wouldn't give a rats a$$ what a veteran player thinks about them (you know there are a few more Dez Bryant wannabe's waiting in the wings).  ;)

The NFL players have backed off of their position regarding asking draftees not to attend the draft.  Instead they are planning an alternative event to take place a couple of days later.  Personally I thought the idea was stupid.

Part of what the players are looking for is a rookie salary cap.  So it's pretty clear the current players aren't interested in helping those who are coming into the league yet they ask those players to skip something they've dreamed of and worked their behinds off to accomplish to help them.  Ya, that makes a lot of sense.

If a college player is a number 1 pic by an NFL team, then by all means he should atttend the draft and enjoy the honor. It is something that is a  personal highlight moment, that should not be minimized by veteran players under any circumstances, period!

Nah skunk, I am an offensive lineman Dad and you know how jealous and delusional we are about speed!   ;D  Lane has very good coverage skills and made some great plays at the 2009 Stagg Bowl, but I will have to admit at the 2010 Stagg, Cecil, on the touchdown catch added another gear to catch up to that ball.  I believe he will be drafted.  As far as Lane, I am just proud of the leadership he has given the Warhawk team and the fact that he still wants to compete and hope that he gets a chance.

So glad to hear that they have backed off this idea.  I totally agree with you and 68, and thought all along that it was a really crappy move for the NFLPA to make.  Or I guess I should say the, "de-certified NFLPA."  ;)
