UWW's Lane Olson has been named to the USA Men's National Team that will complete this summer in Austria in the IFAF Senior World Football Championships. The link to the announcement is HERE. Lane's announcement is 4th from the bottom. Twenty-six of the 45 positions have been selected, with more to come. There's even a guy named Kmic selected as running back (I guess it helps to have your coach as offensive coordinator  ;) )

It probably didn't hurt Lane either.  Personally I hope Lane is too busy in some NFL team's camp to compete.

I don't follow your train of thought, bw.  Lane's coach isn't one of the USA coaches.

My line of thought is that Kehres, if he had anything to do with the selections, has to be pretty familiar with Lane Olson having seen him play in four National Championship games and having watched who knows how much video of WARHAWK games.

Here we go again!! $60 million high school football stadium being built in...where else? Texas. It's larger than that new one planned at UMHB.

The Allen High School Band marches 600, and they are outstanding!  The musical quality of their performances approach those of UT or Texas Tech.

The school already draws 14,000 to the current stadium.  Allen's District foes are nearby, and so as many as 3-4K fans from the visiting team.

The governing body of interscholastic competitions in Texas public schools, the University Interscholastic League, conducts state championships in marching band, just like about 20 other sports, fine arts and academic competitions.

This was discussed on another board (MIAC I think) a year or so ago when it was announced.  The citizens of that community voted for a Bond to pay for the facilities.  They are also building a Performing Arts Center right next door and I think the community had passed a bond a couple of years prior to this to purchase new School Buses and Technology for the schools.

I think this is a Very Wealthy suburb of Dallas with a supportive tax base.

The school is only 10th-12th grades and has over 3,800 enrollment and is the only high school for a city of 84,000 people.

^ I just thought it was interesting that when UMHB announced it's plans to build their on-campus football stadium, there were some saying how this new facility would become a blue chip magnet and draw in football players to UMHB that normally wouldn't attend. For many high school football players in Texas, that new facility in Belton would be a step down in terms of size, atmosphere and amenities to what they play in now!!  ;)  A six hundred member band would have to be a sight to behold.

You Texans take high school football to a whole new level.  $60 million for a football facility, good gracious.  That sort of spending referendum wouldn't stand a chance of being approved in Wisconsin even if it was intended to build an entire new school and facilities.

Yes, but so would all of the others, if not in size then in atmosphere. (A couple ASC schools play in HS stadiums but can't possibly fill them.)

Kmic has been working out religiously over the last year in an attempt to get another opportunity on some pro level.  He is in shape, and has kept his hands on the football over the last few years.  I am sure it didn't hurt that the OC is LK.   ;)

Not sure what's in the water (or beer) here in Wisconsin, but what's with this state producing some of the best offensive lineman in the country?

Madison - Best O-line in DI last season
Whitewater - Best O-line in DIII last season

And it's not just a one-year fluke.  Madison and Whitewater consistantly have outstanding o-lineman...all homegrown here in the dairy state.

Not intending any disrespect to the UWW OL, but Coppage helps make an OL look good.   :)

The offensive line helps Coppage look good too.

For as long as I've followed WARHAWK football there has been one constant and that is a strong running game.  It doesn't seem to matter who's in the line or who the running back is.  It's just always been a strength.
