Linfield will always be a classic in my mind.

Absolutely one of the great playoff games of the decade. I was only able to partially listen online because I was traveling for a funeral, but watched the game tape later as well.

Happy Post America's birthday, Gentlemen!  Been enjoying a family vaca  in Northern Minnesota. The 05 Linfield/UW-W game was the most amazing 60 minutes of football that I have ever seen!!!  ELEVEN lead changes puts it at the top of any list and Elliot and Co., put on a passing clinic from the first whistle!! Thank goodness we had a running game or they'd have put up 80!!!  When we took the lead with 42 seconds left, all I could think of was," OMG, that's too much time!!!"  I know it was and still is a complete heartbreak for the Cat fans but the two programs earned major respect from each other and those of us present knew we had witnessed something special!!  Next on my list would the the second half of the 07 game for obvious reasons but in both previous meetings, we had hung tight with the Raiders until the half and then they pulled ahead in the 3rd.  I remember thinking that this meeting could end differently when we finally withstood the Raiders push after half time and still had lead going into the 4th.       Awww.........those are some great memories!!!

I remember listening to that game (Kool's internet stream) at my apartment when it still lived in IL while putting up Christmas decorations. The second they won, I text all my friends how I knew from Whitewater to meet me at the game the following week against Wesley.

As far as games I physically attended I have a hard time picking out my favorite. One game that comes to mind was the 2007 playoff game against UMHB. Very tight game in the bitter cold. It was a very intense game with little scoring (16-7)...great atmosphere.

02- that UMHB game was cold and tense (flask came in quite handy as I recall).

I can't remember the team but it was playoffs a couple years back at home and two Hawk LB's did the Malachi Crunch on a QB that was giving us fits running and throwing. Game over from that moment on.

If you want a non-football moment you could always say the streaker at the 06 Wesley game, that got the whole crowd laughing.

As for football for the games I've been at UMHB playoff game, froze my ass off but it was worth it. The second half of the 09 Linfield game was great too, loudest I heard the Perk with only slightly more then 2,000 fans.

emma17

Right Bobo- that was Wittenberg and their star defensive end- Eddie Malloy or Mallory?
Master- Good call on Linfield 09. Remember the crowd on the pass and long run to 1 yd line, then the interception by Deavers?

emma, or Eddie Vallery. . . he was their star on defense, but our O-line neutralized him pretty much all day (3U, 1A tackle) to render him a non-factor in the game, IMO.

With summer camp approximately 6 weeks out for the WIAC, what will be the forecasted standings and what will be the major competitive "key" position battles for the top teams this fall?  :)

Raider 68, we'll have to wait until about August for the poll results since the WIAC SID's do the voting and they are probably still enjoying their summer vacations.  Don't know when they are due back in full force!!  ;)

Before we get off the subject completely, the one half of football that can't be left out of this conversation would be the amazing second half comeback for the Hawks against LaCrosse during the 07 regular season.  Their, "Refuse To Lose," attitude, 25 point scoring run and defensive clampdown in the 4th quarter saved our season, post-season and created the chemisty that allowed them to win UW-W's first national championship!  ;) ;) ;D

I was leaving that one for you 413- I think you're absolutely correct.

Thanks Bobo for getting his name right- I have become quite a name butcher. :-\

There were a number of big plays in that 4th quarter, wasn't there fbf413?  I think the "defensive clampdown" was more like a "defensive knockdown!"  ;)  ;)  I remember one play in particular that made a number of highlight reels and has continued to changed the course of this rivalry!!  La Crosse has never really recovered and been the same since.  ;D

I watched that game on the telly, and I believe with the clues being laid down here, the play being referenced was an LAX fumble created by a monster hit from a certain WW linebacker.  ;)

I remember thinking that play just changed this whole game.
