I would say that besides the backups to Coppage, the only other area of concern for me is the D-line.  Lots of young guys will be asked to contribute.

Only having 1 & 1/2 starters on the offensive line is a concern too

UWW backups have seen so much playing time, plus 5 extra weeks of practice a year for what seems like forever, playing against in practice one of the the best OL in all of D3. And I haven't mentioned the coaching, btw. They will be strong enough and prepared to the max when the time comes (yes, my glass is 3/4 full), IMO.  ;)

Hey bleedpurple are you doing game predictions again this year? I greatly enjoyed them last year!

I will probably go for it again. I have lots of research to do at this point! Hopefully, I will be able to put some time into it the next couple of days and come out with something on Friday.

Warhawk roster posted....no Steve McCollom or Aaron Samplawski.  I want to wish them well after their great Warhawk careers!

That just took me to the 2010 roster

You'll have to choose the 2011 roster

. . . and how is that done? . . . the drop down menu doesn't include 2011!!  :-[  :-\

What is this?  A new version of waterboarding?  C'mon, we thirst for knowledge .....
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Looks like I'll be doing a WIAC doubleheader on Saturday. I'll be at the Buena Vista/UW-Platteville game in the afternoon and the UW-Whitewater/UW-La Crosse game in the evening. Looking forward to it!

Samplawski has an injury and wouldn't have been able to start practicing until the season was almost over.  He's been considering a medical redshirt so I suspect that is what he has decided to do.  I'm not sure about McCollum.
Sorry to hear about both missing the season.  I did see McCollum in a leg cast, I guess that would be the reason he's not listed.
There is so much unknown about this UWW team right now, which is why I can't wait to take the trip up to Lacrosse. I believe their defensive line will be very strong, as well as their secondary.  The O-Line, linebackers, recievers and back up running backs are the areas I'll be watching intently.
Go Hawks.

I feel badly for the kids who are injured. I hope and pray they heal quickly and play next year if they want to.

Here are my first predictions for the year:

O-Line: I believe they will be fine. They will start off being pretty good (remember, we are used to great), they will get better as the season goes along, and they will be very good by the end of the season.
Linebackers: Will be great. 3 studs. Enjoy the show.
Recievers: The most athletic set UW-W has had the entire Stagg Bowl run.
Back up running backs: Warhawk fans will be hearing "Levell Coppage the ball carrier" in Irv's voice much like 2007 when "Justin Beaver the ball carrier" was like that song you can't get out of your head. However, I do think by the time conference play starts, you will be more comfortable about the backups.  Still, a Levell Coppage injury would be a nightmare scenario. However, until the playoffs last year, I would have said the same thing about Blanchard.

Well it was up yesterday afternoon!  Nothing especially surprising except for Samplawski and McCollom. It is notable that the Warhawks seem to have a more "national" recruiting presence with players from Alaska, Connecticut, Colorado, and Alabama new to this year's team.

McCollum (like Samplawski) will be back next year. Good thing we have depth at the DB position.

From what I'm hearing from fans, the coaching staff and players...that DII transfer is a beast. He'll be taking McCollum's spot. I'm looking forward to seeing him play.

Josh Williams is banged up too. He'll miss half the season with an Achilles injury.

Desmin Ward is no Lavell Coppage but I think he'll be ok.  That is assuming he doesn't keep shrinking. ;) :D  After that it gets a little dicey.

Being a local WHITEWATER guy I was glad to see another Whippet on the roster.  Though it's unlikely he'll have the impact Minette will have Nic Romani is a nice player and given time he could develop into a contributor.

There were only 98 players listed on the 2011 roster yesterday (Yes, I counted them.  I know...I need a life.).  The roster doesn't have to finalized until tomorrow and the word is two players will be added.  So maybe that's the reason it isn't available today.

A player from Alaska?  Cool.  I guess you can't complain about the cold wind when walking across campus with him around.

I was really looking forward to watching Josh Williams, he showed so much talent last year- made some nice plays in the Stagg Bowl.

Weather looks good for Sat night, should be a great tailgate and game experience.

BTW, I think the Michael Zweifel show is on tonight-vs Augie- should be a good game.  Michael and UWW's Minett- two potential AA's (post season)- representing the Whippets!

Need to keep Coppage healthy for hopefully another playoff run.  His value in the playoffs is obvious. With the depth and talent at receiver might the Hawks do a little more passing than pounding the rock this year? Also, bring in the backup RBs early in those game where the Hawks have a big lead.

That is the musings of this "coach"  :)
