For the second week in a row I thought a team would give UWW a game, and again I was wrong. Campbellsville had the skill position players to play with UWW (boy were they fast) but their lines and game plan were horrible.

If the CU announcers thought the crowd was "really big" they should have seen it last year on family day. :P It was an average crowd of a little over 6,000 that started to leave ASAP after halftime, mostly students that were leaving though.

I think the CU PBP guy was "expecting" a near sellout - the CU website also indicated in their game notes that a large crowd in the 11,000 seat stadium was expected.  Not sure who told them that. With the nice weather, Badgers playing in Chicago, and first home game since last November, I thought more than 6,000 would've been appropriate, too.

Anybody hear anything regarding the condition of the Campbellsville freshman QB (Zach Eastham) who got carted off the Perkins Stadium field turf, strapped to a backboard.  Hopefully, it was all done for precautionary reasons. It looked like he was moving his hands, as the gator took him off the field. I pray for good news on his condition. The big hit was administered by Greg Arnold as the QB scrambled down the Warhawk sidelines on a failed passing attempt.

8PM EDT From the early top 25 finals on d3football.com:

"Top-ranked UW-Whitewater won its 33rd consecutive game, having little trouble with Campbellsville, 54-14. Campbellsville was ranked No. 17 in the NAIA's coaches poll. Levell Coppage and Desmin Ward combined for 209 rushing yards and quarterback Derek Blanchard was out before halftime in the win."

It appears that Eastham is fine.  The vehicle transporting him went right by the ambulance and right to the locker room. The ambulance never moved during the game. He was on the sideline with his teammates by the end of the game. on a side note, I was encouraged by the standing ovation he got from Hawk fans as he was carted off.

Thank God!  I have been saying prayers for the young man since it happened!  I, too was impressed with the proper way our fans and players reacted.  Both team's, from sideline to sideline, took knees while he was treated, they sat the student section down and then the entire stadium gave him a standing O!  All as it should be.  We were relieved to see his arms move.

What happens at 413's tailgate...................... stays at 413's tailgate!!!!!   ;) ;D 8-)

Had a fantastic time being back at the Perk on a glorious fall day watching my beloved WARHAWKS win!  Great company, great football, great time was had by all!  Well, unless your were the visiting team.  I suspect we probably just used up another non-conference opponent though.  Kudos to them for taking their turn at bat and the best of luck with the rest of their season.

Congrats to the Cougars 413.  I had a feeling they'd get a win.

Blame that one on the students. Being at UWW for the last 5 years you learn that by halftime a lot of the students leave (or just don't show up) because "it's WW football, and they'll win anyways", which is why they stream out at halftime, even during close games like last year against Trine. Yes, it's stupid but it keeps a lot of them away too.  >:(

Heading into Saturday's game, Campbellsville felt like they matched up well at the skill positions with UW-W. What went wrong?
