Does Whitewater have a hockey team that SJU can whup up on? They seem to be taking just about every other D-III Championship. Must be something in the (White)water this year.

I don't think they have a hockey team.  You probably didn't know it, but they also have the reigning National Wheelchair Basketball champion. I think they beat U of Texas or Illinois for that championship!

Raiderguy:  I hope for the sake of D3 football that your team comes out and proves it.  But if UWW handles you guys the way they've handled everyone else (except Linfield who kept it close and fought the entire game) then I'll stand by the statement that last week was the real championship and YOU can deal with it.  If you guys win or play a close game, I'll be the first one to apologize to you and the Purple Raiders.  BTW, I know that the "Stagg Bowl" is next week, but unless there is true competitive balance in the playoffs, you can't argue much that the Staggbowl is the best two teams playing each other.

2nd half has started with WW taking the kick and starting 1 & 10. A delay to replace the Field Judge who was injuried on the Kick-off

Yes we got the audio back up and running eight minutes ago, by the way.

This is to give more confidence to the Warhawks and not to toot the Johnnies horn. In the last two games against MUC, The Johnnies held them to 60 points less than they scored in the Semi-final games. In 2000 MUC scored 70, then beat St John's 10 - 7, and in 2003 they scored 66, and SJU beat them 24 - 6.  I don't think the Warhawks can hold them to -18, but they shouldn't have too hard of a time holding them under 20.

Why is it at all necessary to have Regions at all? Why don't they just try to pick the best 32 teams in the country, while taking geography into secondary consideration. There has recently been a good deal of back and forth on the Daily Dose section about how weak the East is, with some eastern intellectual arrogance showing it's ugly, and probably erroneous, head.

I just heard the announcers say that MUC beat Rowan 19 - 7. I saw on the Bottom Line crawl on ESPN, MUC won 42 - 7. Which is correct?

Yeah, the Karma force is strong in the East.  Just not the football teams....

MonroviaCat, I get docked every time I say something about it. I probably spend too much time on it but it's only because I feel so strongly and am tired of nothing being done. Something has to be done about the teams selected to play in this region but unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any change in site.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I hear ya Foss.  I have not followed the playoffs as closely until the last 2 years (in part due to not getting into post patterns as much) but this year the inbalance in the regions seems the worst I've seen.  Another problem (that is not the fault of the NCAA as far as I can tell) is that there is not a lot of regular season mixing of Regions.  There is some but because schools can't afford to fly teams all over the country and because some conferences have enought teams to play nearly the entire season in conference, we don't get a lot of chance to see how regions stack up against one another during the year.  As such, we end up with Undefeated Teams meeting up in the playoffs and very lopsided scores resulting.  I wonder, if teams were meeting up more in the regular season, if the the NCAA would give more consideration to balancing the playoffs (e.g. if Linfield beat Rowan by 34 points in the reg. season, and that was Rowan's only loss, would the NCAA think twice about stacking the west and letting Rowan own the East throughout the playoffs?)

Boy, that Beaver sure is a HARD runner. It's really a HAIRY experience if he's coming at you.

I agree with Foss, the pool system should be eliminated and a system like the Division I basketball playoffs should be instituted.  But ya'll have to remember what DIII is all about.  This philosophy appears to be an alibi to be able to pick only teams that win their conferences as opposed to picking a true 32 best team playoff.  Do we really want a BCS in DIII?
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

The WarHawks are destroying Wesley. Assuming you continue to take care of business, best of luck against Mount and keep the national championship in the West.

WarHawk fans, make the trip to Salem and the Stagg Bowl. Great experience and well worth the trip. You never know when you will be back again. Just ask Linfield. ;) I'm predicting a Whitewater win in Salem.
