I wonder if anyone here would like to take a smartphone to a game sometime and do a D3report. You guys here know your stuff, obviously.

:) I think you know I know, right? I was using it more generically. Next time perhaps "y'all" will work better?

Of course I know but I couldn't resist.  I'd volunteer, by the way, but it seems like something that would get in the way of my tailgating.................  ;) :D ;D

My big shout-out goes to 02 Warhawk for inviting me and my wife to his tailgate yesterday.   Thanks, pal.  Beautiful day, great food, and a Warhawk win.

PS - 02 has mega-cute daughter who gave me a hgh five.  She's gonna go far!
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Great game today! Weather was great and UWP was pretty overmatched all game. Their points came off of someone (can't remember who at this point) getting burned twice (kind of like last year) and what I consider a trick play to end the half (though that guy should have been covered). UWP is a good team though and they have a good shot at taking second place in the WIAC (along with UWO and UWEC). Was kind of annoyed when UWP basically rushed the field at half when they tied the game, but oh well.

You'll have to explain the part about rushing the field. I certainly didn't see UWP rush the field, and the referees didn't either since no penalty was called. UWW is the big dog in D3 football, they are the hunted. Teams are going to have to play UWW with emotion and execution to beat the Warhawks. I would expect UWP to be excited after tying the game right before halftime.

Both cornerbacks were beat several times in the first half. Fortunately, UWP was only to connect on a few passes. There was one blatant pass interference as well. Passes over the middle were well covered. In the previous game, a couple long passes were also completed for touchdowns. In the second half, UWW mixed up the defenses more, with many blitzes and different coverages. I haven't seen may UWW games (2-3 per year) but this seems to be the pattern.

Blanchard 13-18  144 1 TD  1 INT on a tipped ball in the end zone on the Warhawks first possession 2nd and

I'm not sure but Blanchard may have been more like 15-20 with 166 yards.  The official stats had Rosholt going 2-2 for 22 yards.  I didn't notice Rosholt, the punter, throwing any passes.

I have to give Platteville some credit.  They kept going for first downs on fourth down though they ended up 0-4.  That was a significant momentum thing for the WARHAWKS.  The best one was when we stuffed them twice on 3rd and 4th and a couple of inches to go.

It definitely helped that Nick Anderson was unable to play.  Overall their quarterbacks were more of a running threat than passing and Anderson would definitely made them more difficult to defend.  I hope he's able to get back on the field at some point.  They need him.

UWP was fighting an uphill battle before the game even started with many injuries, not saying it would have made a difference in the outcome of the game.  Anderson, Vlasak out with injuries before the game started then I heard they lost their best lineman in the 1st quarter.  On defense they were without their best safety (#26, can't think of his name) and three starting linebackers, one being all-conference LB Snyder.  Then I heard when they did try to use Vlasak on a 3rd&4th and inches that got stuffed, questionable play calling by UWP (I bet the UWW defense was thinking something like this "Oh Vlasak is in for the 1st time today I bet they are going to give him the ball").  Talk about telegraphing they play call, using Vlasak as a decoy would've probably worked in their favor.  I've never understood how UWP expects to get tough yards on the ground going out of shotgun with their linemen out of a 2point stance, hard to get a forward push when you are starting on your heals not to mention going against the UWW defense.

If UWP gets everyone healthy with their bye week they will have a good shot of winning out.  If they can win out and finish 8-2 (only loses to #1 & #7), good possibility of getting an at large bid for playoffs.

^^ Wheaton lost this week and has dropped in the rankings. That may or may not be a "good" loss when it's all said and done. Two loss teams haven't had much luck getting into the play-off field. UW-EC made it in a few years ago, but it's not been common. Every week from here forward is like a play-off game for a lot of teams.

Right now, Wheaton looks like the 3rd best team in the CCIW, and they hold a head-to-head edge over UWP. UWP would have to have a lot of things go their way to get into the playoffs as an 8-2 team. And, they still have some tough WIAC games to play. A lot of one loss teams are in playoff mode already. I'd say that the odds that UWP could run the table AND get a Pool C berth are slim at best.
