Anybody (besides oshfb...I know he'll be there) plan on attending the UWW-UWO game?

I was thinking maybe we can get together for a little tailgating if anyone is interested. I was thinking across the street from the Stadium (the bank parking lot). We plan on getting there fairly early Saturday morning.

We'll have a beige pop-up tent with a Whitewater flag hanging down from it. Anyone interested on getting together??

Whitewater fans, Oshkosh fans, all welcome...

I plan to be there, but I won't arrive until at least noon.  I'll try to look you up.

The GAME NOTES on the Oshkosh website begins with this informational sentence:
QuoteTwo nationally ranked squads with impressive winning streaks meet to decide first place when UW-Oshkosh hosts UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Oct. 22) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Warhawks=36 games since Dec 20, 2008
Titans=4 games since September 10, 2011

This reminds me of Hot Rod Hundley's line:

There has been a break, sort of, in the information blackout out of Oshkosh on the status of UWO quarterback Nate Wara for tomorrow's 1st place showdown game with U-Dub-Dub....

The following is an exerpt from today's Oshkosh Northwestern preview story of tomorrow's game.

One question mark will come with who is starting at the quarterback position for the Titans. Starter Nate Wara left last week's game with an injury. Backup Nick Olla came in and preformed solidly, throwing for 100 yards and scoring on a running touchdown against the Pioneers in Wara's absence.

Although Cerroni wouldn't divulge who would be taking the snaps on Saturday against he Warhawks, he was certain that his offensive output would be just the same under either quarterback.

"We are very fortunate to have two quarterbacks that we built this offense around," he said. "I think we are going to be all right."

Keeping this in perspective, the article also states: "The Titans own a 5-1 record for just the second time since 1972. UW-Oshkosh started 5-1 in 2005, while its last four-game winning streak came during the 2003 season."

So while no where near as impressive as UWW's 36 games, it is still one of the better streaks by a UWO squad in school history. The 1972 squad finished 8-2 and the 2005 squad finished 7-3 (with a very dissapointing 13-10 loss to UWRF in OT - game in which I was knocked stupid with a concussion).

I'll be making the trip up.  Have to - missed the Stout game because of that cheesy Friday night scheduling.  Will look for you.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Hmmmm.........if I were trying to build a D-III football program to compete on a national scale...

UWW - PURPLE
UMU - PURPLE
UST - PURPLE
MHB - PURPLE
LIN - PURPLE

It's simple....immediately change your school color scheme to feature PURPLE!   :o 8-)

... I can take this another step further...

Look at basketball.  UWSP has won 3 titles in the last 7 years... and has purple.

Williams has the same color scheme as UWSP... and has been in 3 title games in 8 years, winning once, and making it to the final four in the last two seasons.

Amherst has purple as their primary color and won the title in 2007... and has been to 4 of the last 8 final fours.

St. Thomas, as noted above, has purple as their primary color: http://d3hoops.com/notables/2011/03/tommies-make-salem-purple

Unless that's what Cerroni wants everyone to think.  The plot thickens....

A part of me wants to see Wara play, just to see how the Warhawks handle him. Then again, I should be careful what I wish for.
